message 30851: by Sassy Sarah Reads (new)

Sassy Sarah Reads Finished The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1) by Jessica Sorensen . Finally that book was so boring and uneventful. Reading Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta and I'll probably pick up a galley from Netgalley that's paranormal this time.

I'll never understand what everyone likes about these books... ;) They are so OTT, and I can't get over the names.

Reading Three of Swords (Precog in Peril #1) by Theo Fenraven

I agree that the names don't do nothing in the books, and the series are built like many other (although Vampire in America are more OTT than these I think).

The reason I got into them is that I got to like the many MCs and side characters and really want to see what will happen to them next! :-)

It's basic PNR romance, they're not heavy reads, but I find them really enjoyable!

message 30865: by Steelwhisper (new)

Steelwhisper | 140 comments Heh, I don't read much vampire romance, I sort of terminally overdosed with the first two Twilight books ;) And I used to love them. ;) I tried the first of these and was mainly rolling my eyes, so I guess I'm still beyond it for a while yet. :-)

message 30866: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 192 comments Finished Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle and thought it was alright. I haven't decided if I'll go on to book two.

Also had mixed feelings about Ecstasy (Shadowdwellers, #1) by Jacquelyn Frank . I thought the Shadowdweller world was pretty interesting but the connection between Trace and Ashla was kinda strange.

On a side-note... I saw a lot of folks reading Forged in Fire (Red-Hot SEALs, #1) by Trish McCallan for the July Challenge. I thought the final scene (view spoiler) was probably the weirdest use of the "soulmate bond" I've come across. I'll be interested to see what you guys think, haha.

message 30867: by Cynthia (new)

I've read Singh's other series. Hav either of you read that and how does this one compare to that ?"

Chelle is fine....;D

I have only read the first book in the Psy-Changeling series. I keep meaning to get back to it and I will at some point.

From that and things that I have heard from others who have read both....Guild Hunter is a much darker series. I like that about it though. It makes it very different from other series and Raphael is to die for...

P.S. Raphael is mine. :D

message 30871: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Ok I'll try to keep that in mind. Raphael is yours. Lol

Thats good to know. I hate it when authors basically do the same thing just a different setting. I'll give it a try sometime. When I get to all the other TBR books :-)

message 30872: by Michelle (new)

Michelle P.s. makes live more easier calling you Chelle. Otherwise I might feel like I'm talking to myself

Ah.. their story isn't straight forward and a lot of frustration lay ahead.
But I like how 'normal' and imperfect they are, I really like Karina Halle because of that.
You should try Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy, #1) by Karina Halle , I felt the same and am really looking forward to the next one coming out in August

I'm still poking at From Heaven to Earth by Sherrod Wall I wish I had more time to read but my daughter's nap time is coming up in an hour so ill be able to knock out some more pages then. Mr. Wall's editor needs to find another profession. There is great substance here! An awesome supernatural plot of which i've never seen the like, with great memorable characters that are caught up in something much bigger than themselves. (even though most of them are of super human quality being half-angels and half-demons) I just wish his editor had been more thorough. They carelessly mishandled a novel that deserves so much better. Somehow, despite the editorial issues, I'm loving every moment of it and wanting more. It takes a great writer to transcend copy errors, as most people, including myself would have shunned such prose to its grave. That is why I don't write. Haha. Can't edit worth anything. This site is so awesome. I get so carried away talking about books I forget my schedule and responsibilities. On that note ill update again later.

How did you like Out of Breath? I just downloaded the 2nd book from the Kindle Lending Library and can't wait to read it. Don't know if I can wait another month to download Out of Breath from the lendng library, may have to buy it.

message 30891: by [deleted user] (new)

Don't worry about it Sherrod. Like I said I'm still enjoying your novel. I'm about to sit down and read it right now actually. Lol. That should tell you you've done your job as an author. I doubt very seriously the errors are completely your fault. They will get solved and if they don't, find a new publisher. The imaginative universe you've created along with the tumultuous conflict and the struggle you convey with your unique angelic and demonic characters all speak in your defense. I have no doubt that everything will turn out fine. Keep on writing and I hope the issues get resolved.

Hi Denise! Have read Mistborn The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson and The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson and just starting The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3) by Brandon Sanderson with some buddy reads now.
This series is fantastic!
It's about/with Vin and much much more others! :-)

message 30894: by [deleted user] (new)

46% into From Heaven to Earth by Sherrod Wall now. My god the conflict has gotten intense. I thought I had the plot figured out generally and now I have no clue what is going to happen. I got to see Mr. Wall's romance scene chops too in this section of the novel. Kept it pretty steamy without venturing into the R rated zone.
