First, I loved Grimspace and pre-ordered Wanderlust. Can't wait for it to get here. :)
Second, I just had lunch with Ann Aguirre in Denver at Worldcon!!! Woo Hoo! I was only there for one day and she offered to meet me for lunch since I was going to miss her signing. How cool is that? First time I have ever met someone as a fan. :)

Oh, and you might be interested to know I did start on Boyd's Passion, but unfortunately I'm considering dropping it right now. It's a little overdramatic. It does seem to be true what some reviewers say, that the books are kind of Anne Rice for werewolves, but the writing could use some work. :( She's not very good at building suspense through events and characters, more like she says "it was suspenseful." And I had such hopes... So I'm considering moving on to CL Wilson's next book instead since I enjoyed the first.

Right now, I'm reading The Becoming because Breaking Dawn was pretty much boring me. Too bad. I guess I was in a different mind state when I read the first 3 because I thought they were pretty darn good. Not so much now. LOL

gbina, that's so cool! She seems really nice from the emails I've gotten from her.
I finished Grimspace last night and started Wanderlust this morning. I'm really digging this series.

I'm reading Cry Wolf right now, and it is helpful to have read the Mercy series, if for nothing else then to understand the refrences.

Cheri, I'm glad to hear that Dodd's was as good as hoped. I have Into the Flame on my BF list, and this time I've made sure it'll ship next, lol. Argh, the waiting.
In the meantime, I'm starting the T'en series when I get a free moment.

Next . . . a toss-up between about four books. Turbulent Sea by Christine Feehan, High Noon by Nora Roberts, Daughters Grimm by Minda Webber and the Vampire Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks. I love this kind of dilemma*g*.

I'm on www.paperbackswap.com. They've got a good paranormal romance section. I've found it a great money saver and a wonderful way to try out new authors that you might not otherwise give a chance. I think all of the book swap sites are hit-and-miss when it comes to getting the all the books you want from a series. My solution has been to try for one the first book of the series, and if I like it, then go ahead and request the next few in the series, buying the ones that don't happen to be available.
http://www.bookmooch.com is pretty good for swapping, too, though it can be difficult to find a particular title at times.

I liked this book but I think it was my least favorite of the three series that I've started this week. The Southern Vampire series is still my favorite, followed by Rachel Morgan, The Hollows. I'm sure I'll read more but I want to read more Sookie first.

New_User - let me know how long it takes for BF to ship your books , Also I think I know why they sent your books out of order. When I first joined they sent the first books I added to my list no matter wht order I put them in after adding others, but don't worry they'll start sending them in the order after the intial shipment.

I just read the first three of LKH's Merry Gentry series over the weekend. (Wow, it's been a long time since I had that sort of time on my hands.)
I read the Anita Blake series up until Micah and needed to take a break before going any further with those. The Anita character has strayed so incredibly far from her roots, it's hard to even recognize her anymore, so I'm a little undecided about finishing the remaining books about her.
I wanted to give the Merry Gentry ones a try, and am hooked. I think I like the Merry character because she doesn't have remotely the amount of angst that's carried around by the Anita character, so I feel more sympathetic, I think. Now I just need to acquire the rest of the series.
I'm excited to read a good review of Acheron, as well b/c I've been SO waiting for that one!

I haven't read the Dark Jewels series but from what others have told me it's much better than the Eupherma series that I've just got done reading. I'm planning on picking that series up next. From what I hear, those books are really yummy.

It's also very different than Mead's other series. Her Georgia Kincaid series is fantasy that reads a bit more lighthearted. Her Vampire Academy series is YA and reads a little more like the Twilight (Meyers) or House of Night (Cast & Cast) series. Storm Born is more fantasy, but definitely has more sensuality than her other writing.
Has anyone else read this?

I read A LOT (over 150 novels/year) mostly in the Fantasy & PNR genres and the Black Jewels trilogy is one of my favorites of all time! They are definitely dark fantasy - and the "dark" part includes the sensual nature of the novels. It's done very well, but if alternative sensuality (think fetish) really bugs you then these aren't the books for you. I personally would liken the sensuality aspect of these novels to those in the Jacqueline Carey Kushiel series.
Hope this helps!

Also, just two cents about Anne Bishop. If you don't like weak, almost negligible male characters, I advise against it. If, on the other hand, you like the whole She-Ra fantasy, go for it, lol, jk, jk. At any rate, it is a fantasy series so the romance is really a subplot.

I just finished up Ann Aguirre's GRIMSPACE (which was GREAT), and now I'm reading Jenna Black's THE DEVIL YOU KNOW.

I loved Rebel Angels and am looking forward to reading the last book in this series.
