La*La Wondering about the Iron fey series by Kagawa... Looked through reviews, it looks too much like Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead (which I haaaated!). But maybe the Iron fey series is better?

message 28311: by Brielle (new)

Brielle Saleman | 4 comments I just started a novel that was recommended on another site. It's a first time author, but I've heard it's really good. I'm about five chapters in and it's really good so far. I'll come back for further analysis later. Reign Genesis by Jeffrey Wergin

LOL! Honestly, I just sort of clicked the wrong book and ended up reading half of it in one position. 80% through now and I REALLY REALLY LOVE IT! :)

message 28314: by Goldingurl (new)

Goldingurl | 83 comments i don't know about the dark swan series, but the iron fey is very good in terms of the characters, world etc i can only speak for the first two books and in the second book the female lead is a bit whiny but then she's sixteen and stressed so i let it slide.

I have not read the Dark Swan series, so I can't compare, but I really like the Iron Fey series. I love the concept the author developed for the Iron Fey and the whole story.

Iron Fey series is really good. I did not read the Dark Swan series because I was told it would make me mad. lol

Valerie Sange (valeriedusange) | 7 comments I'm writing a PNR right now, so I can't read any for fear of stealing good bits without meaning to. So I'm catching up on sexy bestsellers from decades past, and reading a Harold Robbins book. An alpha, some bad behavior on airplanes, and the dawn of the TV business. It's good so far!

message 28320: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 21 comments I'm almost done Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson, #5) by Patricia Briggs
I love this series, I love the world she's created, and Mercy is my favorite PNR protagonist.

Well I loved Elena from Bitten too.

message 28321: by Irene ~ Witchy Reads (new)

Irene ~ Witchy Reads (witchyreads) | 201 comments Im reading Colour of magic by Terry Pratchett, it is the first book in the disc world serie, it is pretty old, but after the authors name kept popping up everywhere I decided to give him a change. It is a good read, funny and creative. The movie is also great btw. I own it and watched it before I started reading because I didn't know it was also a book. I don't usually watch before I read. I do watch books movies because Im always curious how they turnout.
I am also reading Carlos Ruiz Zafón's Shadow of the wind (in dutch). He's a real master of the art of writing, it is amazing! It is no fantasy but it is really good!

I have read them both and I can see where you might think they are alike, but I dont really think they are. There is not as much back and forth between worlds in Iron Fey and there is not much of a love triangle as in Dark Swan, which annoyed me too.

message 28324: by Julie (new)

Julie | 188 comments Started reading the behemoth Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness and am enjoying just as much as the first one. There is just something about this series that just sucks me right in...Like this one because you get to see how everyday life was in late 1500s; which I always find fascinating.

message 28325: by Karin (new)

Karin Shah | 49 comments Just finished, Last Kiss Goodnight it was solid, but not earth-shaking. I'll probably buy another book by Gena Showalter, but I'm not racing out to get her earlier series. I just would have liked more conflict between them in the beginning.

It's nothing like dark swan, if anything iny opinion iron fey is much better than dark swan. The only comparisons, is that oth main characters are part fey part human.

Sillylittlefishey | 1025 comments finished Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks ...it started out pretty slow and I found most of the characters lacked depth, but I did end up really enjoying it regardless.

Now I'm reading Ritual in Death (In Death, #27.5) by J.D. Robb which I'd like to finish tonight since it's so short, but we'll see.

Agree! After reading Mercy Thompson, the other female leads do not stand a chance against Mercy!
