Dominion (Dominion, #1) by S.E. Lund Ascension (Dominion, #2) by S.E. Lund Retribution (The Dominion Series, #3) by S.E. Lund

It is a Hot, suspenseful, dark. thought provoking emotionally charged PNR series - NOT a YA READ
it is by far one of the best PNR reads I've had in years

message 28169: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments Well, I started the year out right. Two great reads: UnWholly (Unwind, #2) by Neal Shusterman which got under my skin in ways I can barely articulate and Wool Omnibus (Wool, #1-5) by Hugh Howey about which all I can say is "Wow". Needless to say, both received five star ratings from me.

Now as soon as I finish Living Nightmare (Sentinel Wars, #4) by Shannon K. Butcher I'll have three great books in a row. Wohoo!

Up next, I'll finally be starting the October Daye series with Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) by Seanan McGuire

Christine | 1127 comments Lala wrote: "Girls, is the Sentinel Wars series really interesting? Keep hearing about it so often.."

I am one of the biggest proponent of the Sentinel Wars series. The first book starts out kind of slow but the series quickly picks up pace and with each book moves further and further up my list of favorite PNR series. There are numerous things I love about this series. I love the interaction between the men and the women. Yes, we have mated pairs like in a lot of PNR. But in this case, the woman still has to choose to accept and stay with the man. She isn't "stuck" with him like in some mating bonds. Plus, each pair comes together to form an awesome fighting team. There is none of this business of the women sitting around at the mansion twiddling their thumbs waiting for their big, tough warriors to come home. The woman are vital, even essential, to the fight.

And I love the complexity of the story lines. With each book we learn a little more information about this world. Some questions are answered others are raised. For me, this is one of the few series that does a really good job of balancing an UF plot with a PNR plot without sacrificing either.

I'm totally agree with you Christine, this series keeps building and expanding that keeps you begging for more. The creatures, the relationships between the men and women just everything about this series seems fresh to me.

It is good to see some friction between Eve and Roarke, they are already amazingly good together and when they fight, it makes them feel more humanly normal. HAHAHAHA.
