What are you reading right now?

...I want another book to read before going to get blood bound tomorrow. Should I read Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr or Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison?."
I can't wait for Mercy Thompson Homecoming and Hunting Ground, but Kim Harrison's Hollows (and Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels)is still my favorite series! Dead Witch Walking was a little confusing at first. If you decide to read it, check out the time line posted at http://www.kimharrison.net/Extras.htm that explains how the world developed.
I just finished The Devil Inside. I was "ok". It's got a pretty high rating on Amazon.com, which shows that we all have our own reading preferences. I decided to give The Devil You Know, a chance. It's now become the first PNR/UF book that I am not going to finish.
I hate picking new series! I've never read Dark Lover and everyone seems to love it so I guess I'm reading that now.

Heh heh."
I wish I had under 40! My to-read shelf has gotten ridiculous.

Same here, only books I own are on my to-read shelf as well as a few I want to check out from work (maybe less than 10 or so), that's what makes it so scary! o_O Everything else is on my wishlist shelf.

Glad I'm not the only one with lots of books unread on my bookshelves at home. Yet, I can't stop buying more and I can't stop checking things out at the library!

I'm going to the library tomorrow to get it :D

You're in for an emotional roller coaster with Acheron's book. My heart still aches thinking about it. Although the book was very good I don't think I could bring myself to read it again. I do hope you enjoy it though.

BloodFever by Karen Marie Moning today; to many books not enough time lol..... "
Hi Ann,
I just read Karen Marie Moning's "Fever" series a few weeks ago and it has me hooked! I think I read the three books in about four days. I loved MacKayla and can't wait to find out what happens to her. Have you read her "Highlander" series? I really like those books too, but this series is different (even though there will be a crossover with a few characters). Please let us know what you think when you have finished "Bloodfever!" I would love to discuss the series!

Kushiel's Dart I love it, but I'm kind of losing steam at a little over the halfway point.
No Rest for the Wicked Completely devouring this one! I like it so much more than the first!
Magic Kingdom for Sale--Sold This one was free from Shortcovers. A great light hearted read so far!
Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3) Really enjoying Anita Blake's crazy antics!

I love Kresley Cole! She is one of the best paranormal writers I have ever read! Have your read her other books in the series? I can't wait for the next one to come out in October! I just started reading the Anita Blake series and I like it. I finished the first one a couple of weeks ago, but am looking forward to the second one. I have read that "Circus of the Damned" is good.

I only read the first one, which I liked, but nowhere near as much as the second! The second one has more action/adventure. Plus I love Kaderin and Sebastian. I almost don't want it to end! But alas, it has to because I already traded it on swaptree and have to mail it out tomorrow. Have to finish the last 50 or so pages tonight. Oops. :( hehe.
Same think with Anita Blake, I liked the second one better, but loved everything I've read so far!

Getting ready to start Stray by Rachel Vincent (as soon as i get off the computer).
Currently reading Divine by Blood and Goddess of Spring, both by PC Cast; and Child of Flame by Kate Elliott. It's #4 in the Crown of Stars series-a pretty good medieval series with elves, magic, centaurs, and all kinds of cool stuff.

[bookcover:Succubus ..."
That's a good idea, Shannon.

I agree with Danielle. I felt the same way after I read "Dark Lover" last fall and didn't even pick up the second book until March. I just kept hearing how wonderful the series was so I decided to give it a second try. I am so happy that I did because the series is now one of my favorites. J.R. Ward creates such rich characters and is a terrific storyteller (I think). I hope you decide to hang in there for it...The second one in the series is probably my favorite (Rhage and Mary)!!!

I'll withhold my verdict until I finish it. Could be that Wrath just isn't the brother for me - though that's never really been a problem in other series with a combination of males, most of them usually appeal to me on some aspect as long as they're alpha.

He's not my favorite but I love Beth. The neat thing about this series is each book is about one couple but also not at the same time. There's all kinds of intersecting storylines that if you're not particularly digging a certain part you just have to wait a chapter or two and it'll shift focus.
I wouldn't force yourself through it though, maybe start something else and go back to it later.

Welcome to the club Lauren!:) I just started Blue Moon(Anita #8) :)

Gems, I liked Dark Lover but just finished Lover Eternal and thought it was way better. It was not only an absorbing read but at times a very emotional one.
I'm just starting Darkfever tonight.
I'm currently reading Jeaniene Frost's Halfway to the Grave... and can I just say, "Hellooooooooooo Bones!"
But - I do have to say, at least at this point, I feel that Cat is a bit grating, in the same way I found Sookie grating in the Southern Vampire Series. Not so much that I would stop reading an interesting book. But I just keep thinking, "COME ON, CAT! PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!"

I love the Night Huntress series! Bones is l-o-v-e-l-y!!! I agree with you about Cat...I wasn't a big fan of hers in the beginning, but it is great to see how her character develops (and matures) thoughout the series. I just read "At Grave's End" about a month ago and am really looking forward to reading the next one.

yeah its like right up there with my Dark hunters and BDB

Still I did enjoy the book, once I got into it and the characters were pretty interesting. Though I don't know whether it's because I'm from Ireland but the way they talked sometimes grated a little on my nerves; over all, though it wasn't too bad.

That's pretty much how I feel exactly. The names and dialect annoyed me quite a bit (and I'm from the US). I'm still excited to read the second book though!

No, it's not just you. It took me a while to get passed the funny spelled names and the made up words. The slang can be a little much at times too. But you just kinda have to go with it.

I just dislike having to reread sentences in dialogue to 'dig' what they're saying.

It's not too bad so far.
I'd just finished Dark Lover really wanted to go on to read Lover Eternal, but didn't think I'd finish it before the August challenge starts, so I'm going to save it.
