Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 253 comments Finished Lover Revealed(Book 4 of BDB), have to say it's my fav so far! Now I'm on to Blue Moon(Book 8 in Anita Blake), can't wait to see what happens to Anita next :)

I can't wait for Mercy Thompson Homecoming and Hunting Ground, but Kim Harrison's Hollows (and Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels)is still my favorite series! Dead Witch Walking was a little confusing at first. If you decide to read it, check out the time line posted at http://www.kimharrison.net/Extras.htm that explains how the world developed.

I just finished The Devil Inside. I was "ok". It's got a pretty high rating on Amazon.com, which shows that we all have our own reading preferences. I decided to give The Devil You Know, a chance. It's now become the first PNR/UF book that I am not going to finish.

I hate picking new series! I've never read Dark Lover and everyone seems to love it so I guess I'm reading that now.

I wish I had under 40! My to-read shelf has gotten ridiculous.

message 2758: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I only have books I own and books I currently have checked out from the library in my tbr shelf and it's close to 300. I can't even begin to calculate how many it would be if I put every book I want to read on that shelf! I have a spreadsheet of the books that I'm interested in so I don't put so much on here. I'm a bit ocd myself, and I feel like it's a to-do list so the less on there the better for me!

Shannon (theholyterror) | 313 comments Melissa wrote: "I only have books I own and books I currently have checked out from the library in my tbr shelf."

Same here, only books I own are on my to-read shelf as well as a few I want to check out from work (maybe less than 10 or so), that's what makes it so scary! o_O Everything else is on my wishlist shelf.

message 2760: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Wishlist! Good idea! I might have to start another shelf!

Glad I'm not the only one with lots of books unread on my bookshelves at home. Yet, I can't stop buying more and I can't stop checking things out at the library!

message 2761: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) Well after I finish the Mercy books...and after finally reading ALL the Dark Hunter books, I FINALLY get to read #22 ACHERON! I'm more excited than I should be about this book, but after reading all the others I can't wait!

I'm going to the library tomorrow to get it :D

You're in for an emotional roller coaster with Acheron's book. My heart still aches thinking about it. Although the book was very good I don't think I could bring myself to read it again. I do hope you enjoy it though.

Hi Ann,
I just read Karen Marie Moning's "Fever" series a few weeks ago and it has me hooked! I think I read the three books in about four days. I loved MacKayla and can't wait to find out what happens to her. Have you read her "Highlander" series? I really like those books too, but this series is different (even though there will be a crossover with a few characters). Please let us know what you think when you have finished "Bloodfever!" I would love to discuss the series!
Ally

Morgan (neimanmarxist) | 19 comments I'm currently reading:

Kushiel's Dart I love it, but I'm kind of losing steam at a little over the halfway point.

No Rest for the Wicked Completely devouring this one! I like it so much more than the first!

Magic Kingdom for Sale--Sold This one was free from Shortcovers. A great light hearted read so far!

Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3) Really enjoying Anita Blake's crazy antics!

message 2765: by Ally72 (new)

Ally72 Hi Morgan,
I love Kresley Cole! She is one of the best paranormal writers I have ever read! Have your read her other books in the series? I can't wait for the next one to come out in October! I just started reading the Anita Blake series and I like it. I finished the first one a couple of weeks ago, but am looking forward to the second one. I have read that "Circus of the Damned" is good.
Ally

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 461 comments I'm a big Kresley Cole fan too. I am pining waiting for the next Immortals After Dark book.

I only read the first one, which I liked, but nowhere near as much as the second! The second one has more action/adventure. Plus I love Kaderin and Sebastian. I almost don't want it to end! But alas, it has to because I already traded it on swaptree and have to mail it out tomorrow. Have to finish the last 50 or so pages tonight. Oops. :( hehe.

Same think with Anita Blake, I liked the second one better, but loved everything I've read so far!

message 2768: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) Just finished Vampire Academy. Already can't wait for Frostbite.

Getting ready to start Stray by Rachel Vincent (as soon as i get off the computer).

Currently reading Divine by Blood and Goddess of Spring, both by PC Cast; and Child of Flame by Kate Elliott. It's #4 in the Crown of Stars series-a pretty good medieval series with elves, magic, centaurs, and all kinds of cool stuff.

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Started to read Dark Lover - not too sure how I'm feeling about it so far but it's early days.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 461 comments Don't give up, Gems. Dark Lover is by far the least lovable in the series. They get much better IMHO. I plan to reread it and I think I'll like it more the second time.

message 2775: by Ally72 (new)

Ally72 Hi Gems,
I agree with Danielle. I felt the same way after I read "Dark Lover" last fall and didn't even pick up the second book until March. I just kept hearing how wonderful the series was so I decided to give it a second try. I am so happy that I did because the series is now one of my favorites. J.R. Ward creates such rich characters and is a terrific storyteller (I think). I hope you decide to hang in there for it...The second one in the series is probably my favorite (Rhage and Mary)!!!
Ally

message 2776: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments I probably will hang around and read the rest of the series just to say I have but I really am not feeling the book at all, it's almost work trying to slog through it and I don't think a book should ever be a chore. Could be I'm not in the right mind-set for it though...

I'll withhold my verdict until I finish it. Could be that Wrath just isn't the brother for me - though that's never really been a problem in other series with a combination of males, most of them usually appeal to me on some aspect as long as they're alpha.

message 2777: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (theholyterror) | 313 comments Gems wrote: "Could be that Wrath just isn't the brother for me"

He's not my favorite but I love Beth. The neat thing about this series is each book is about one couple but also not at the same time. There's all kinds of intersecting storylines that if you're not particularly digging a certain part you just have to wait a chapter or two and it'll shift focus.

I wouldn't force yourself through it though, maybe start something else and go back to it later.

message 2778: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments It's begun to pick up but I don't think reading it so soon after rereading the Psy/Changeling was such a good idea. I'm comparing and finding BDB wanting, still it's really coming into it's own now. Can't get over how big these men are supposed to be.

message 2779: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 443 comments Am a little over halfway through Darkfever - this is not my beloved Highlanders, and I'm not a big fan of 1st-person narrative, but it does grab you and suck you in. However, this is not the Ireland I've always wanted to visit!

message 2780: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Ooh, I should read that. I love reading about Ireland in books... simply because I live here and it always intrigues me how it's depicted.

message 2781: by Ally72 (new)

Ally72 I think I left a message a day or two ago about how much I LOVE the "Fever" series. It is not like Karen Marie Moning's Highlanders books, but still very good. It totally does suck a person in to reading all of them! I think I read the three books in four days. I can't wait for the next one in August. I am upset about how Faefever ended.

Gems, I liked Dark Lover but just finished Lover Eternal and thought it was way better. It was not only an absorbing read but at times a very emotional one.

I'm just starting Darkfever tonight.

message 2785: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm currently reading Jeaniene Frost's Halfway to the Grave... and can I just say, "Hellooooooooooo Bones!"

But - I do have to say, at least at this point, I feel that Cat is a bit grating, in the same way I found Sookie grating in the Southern Vampire Series. Not so much that I would stop reading an interesting book. But I just keep thinking, "COME ON, CAT! PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!"

message 2786: by Ally72 (new)

Ally72 Hi Lara,
I love the Night Huntress series! Bones is l-o-v-e-l-y!!! I agree with you about Cat...I wasn't a big fan of hers in the beginning, but it is great to see how her character develops (and matures) thoughout the series. I just read "At Grave's End" about a month ago and am really looking forward to reading the next one.

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Just finished Dark Lover and am moving on to the next book in the series. I have to admit, I'm not completely sold on the idea. It's good, but it's not brilliant so far... I'm hoping it gets better.

Still I did enjoy the book, once I got into it and the characters were pretty interesting. Though I don't know whether it's because I'm from Ireland but the way they talked sometimes grated a little on my nerves; over all, though it wasn't too bad.

That's pretty much how I feel exactly. The names and dialect annoyed me quite a bit (and I'm from the US). I'm still excited to read the second book though!

No, it's not just you. It took me a while to get passed the funny spelled names and the made up words. The slang can be a little much at times too. But you just kinda have to go with it.

message 2792: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments It does give them a certain individuality and you can kind of get why they talk that way, evolving and adapting so they don't stand out such much. I always found it funny that vampires always seemed to stick to the old way of speaking; it kind of screamed 'you're not quite normal' to anyone that dared to speak with them.

I just dislike having to reread sentences in dialogue to 'dig' what they're saying.

message 2793: by Willow (new)

Willow Brook | 47 comments I was ok with the odd names/spelling but the dialogue bugged me a bit. It seemed like an affectation at times. I think you will like Lover Eternal more than Dark Lover. I found LE a very gripping and powerful read. It even made me cry, which I almost never do with books. At first I thought maybe it was my own issues or a rough day, but then I read some other reviewers who said they cried as well. Not a sad book, but emotional.

message 2794: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments I've just started Lover Eternal and Rhage seems pretty cool so far; for a confessed womanizer, he's really interested in finding his Shellan, lol.

message 2795: by Willow (new)

Willow Brook | 47 comments Ah, but wait until you fully understand why he womanizes and what he thinks of the womanizing. :-)

message 2796: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline Coleman (jacqden04) | 18 comments LU is one of my favorite story about BDB, so far. It gets better as you read it. ;)

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 386 comments Just started The Nymphos of Rocky Flats, not bad so far. The main character was made a vampire while fighting the war in Iraq, he's now a P.I.

It's not too bad so far.

I'd just finished Dark Lover really wanted to go on to read Lover Eternal, but didn't think I'd finish it before the August challenge starts, so I'm going to save it.

message 2798: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Yeah I get why he womanizes, Willow, - or I think I do - but it still strikes me as intriguing, lol.
