So now I'm switching to my first Ilona Andrews series with On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews. IMO her Kate Daniels series is much better.

I can't put it down. I started reading it on November 1st and only paused for one book in between.

Everybody keeps telling me that this series is the bomb, but I read the prequel and I wasn't that much impressed. By I'll give it a try. With so many people telling me how this is, somebody must know what they're saying. ;)

I don't think you can appreciate the "prequel" until you've read the first few books of the series. Even though it's chronologically set before the series, you need the character development and world building from the first two or so books to really understand it. (I think it was actually written after book 2 or 3.)

This would be why I usually skip prequels and novellas, unless it's a series with which I'm already obsessed. That being said, while I love Downside it's not a series for everyone. Hopefully, you'll like the books more than the prequel.

Yeah, I'm not one to read prequels either, but after I read the prequel for Kate Daniels and the character actually participates in the main story, I thought this would be a good idea with this series too. Guess not.

The other thing that I keep hearing about this series is that is not your garden variaty series, but something deeper. I'm actually looking forward to that. :)

I thought Taken by Storm was the last one also, but that the author might revisit the world of the series at a later date. She has a new book coming out next year that sounds interesting.

Danielle Book Boss (daniellebookboss) Reading Gerard's Beauty (Kingdom Series, Book 2) by Marie Hall it's a little bleh for me right now.

And also reading Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward , enjoying but dear God does JR Ward have a metaphor or simile for every action of her characters "his shitkickers sounded like a train this, the argument was like two trains colliding that" etc, etc.

Michelle(Chelle) aka Nightshade - Cake Whisperer (michmag) I am halfway through The Renfield Syndrome (Rhiannon's Law, #2) by J.A. Saare and loving it!!!!

You should definitely read Night Huntress first Danielle. It is a spin off of one of her characters (Vlad Tepesh - aka Dracula) but it helps to have an idea of how he fits in with Cat & Bones. Night Huntress is a great series. Highly recommended!!!

message 27296: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (basketchik) | 86 comments Ok Danielle the books are connected but are listed on her website as seperate series. She also gives a suggested reading order, there are some novellas on the list too that I do not have here, but this is the order that is suggested:
1. Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress Series)
2. One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress Series)
3. At Graves End (Night Huntress Series)
4. Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress Series)
5. First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World)
6. Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World)
7. This Side of the Grave (night Huntress Series)
8. One Grave at a time (Night Huntress Series)
9. Once Burned (Night Prince Series)

They are all very good, hope this helps

Definitely read the Night Huntress and spin-off books first or you will be majorly spoiled by Once Burned.
