. What an amazing ride! The second installment of the spin-off of the The Big Bad series by Heather Killough-Walden - "the Kings" series was as intense and action-packed at The Vampire King. Lots of suspense, mystery characters and a dark, violent evil rises to make the lives of the 13 Kings a literal hell on earth. The author certainly knows how to set the stage for the next installment The Warlock King.Looking forward to it.

I found it an intriguing series and a bit different from the usual vamps and shifters.

It started a little slow but more than made up for it by the middle of the book. IMO there was a lot of growing up in this book and I felt everything was answered and concluded nicely.

Now it is definitely picking up and I'm getting into it. I'm 80% in and I can't really connect with neither of the main characters. I'm not saying they're bad, on the contraire, I think they have a very good dynamic but there are better couples out there. :)

I wouldn't recommend skipping books in that series since there is such a strong overall plot.

I'm reading book 4 of A Song of Fire and Ice series by George R. R. Martin (have to take a break from PNR for some epic fantasy once in a while). IMO it's worth the hype! I'm also reading Hexed by Kevin Hearne (Book 2 of the Iron Druid Chronicles) for something lighter. And Story by Robert McKee in preparation for writing book #2 of my The Thin Veil series.

Right now, I am totally addicted to the Jeaniene Frost - Night Huntress series. On book 3 and am loving it. However, I had to switch from listening to reading it as I couldn't stand the accent that the reader gave to Bones. I can't be attracted to a vampire that sounds like Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady. My Brittish men need to sound like proper Brittish men with cool sexy British accents. Anyway, I love the series so far.

i really enjoy Lori Foster's novels and anticipate this one being great as well. my fav was Too Much Temptation. i'm still in the "get to know the characters" stage, but it's good so far.
