Did you ever get Shadow's Fall?

message 23709: by Ty (new)

Ty tried to start Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance but saw the ginormous walls of text so had to stop. Not in the mood to have to think about each sentence after reading it. Really, I had to stop and reread certain sentences. Is this normal?? Is the entire series this type of stream-of-conscious writing? Is it worth it? Please let me know.

so now, after a long shelf life on my TBR pile, it's finally City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare

I actually liked the writing in the first book, even though there were a lot of things I didn't totally understand. Near the end I felt pretty lost when she starts throwing in some time travel and different things. But, I felt the subsequent books were much easier to read and understand. And I like the developing relationship between Cassie and some of the other characters. Whether it's worth it or not? Who's to say? It probably depends on what else is on your shelves that is more (or less) appealing.

I absolutely love this book! Read quite a while ago when it released. Have recommended it to everyone of my friends and can't say enough good things about it. So excited about the movie buzz. Also can't wait for the release of Tracey's next book Covet. She's an awesome writer indeed. Hope you love it as much as I did!

message 23729: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments I finished Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane, #1) by Jaye Wells . It had a great premise and the writing was pretty good, but it just lacked that special spark and I never really felt an emotional connection with the characters.

Up next is either Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep (finally!) or a total change of pace with Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas

TJ was the absolute best and I actually liked the female lead. There are so many books where I hate the female because they make her so whimpy. Anna was tough. I am looking forward to Covet also. This is a great author.

I always read at least two different books, usually more. I love listening to audiobooks while driving, or doing stuff at home (cooking, gardening, doing dishes, laundry or watercolor painting).

Currently I'm listening to the audio version of Fancy Pants by Susan Phillips (I'm on the last chapter), and I'm reading two other books: Finding Emma by Steena Holmes and Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews.
