Heather (heather_feather) | 19 comments OK, so after staying up most of the night, I finished Knight. I enjoyed it, didn't love it, but it was an entertaining read. If Terrible and Christian Grey had a love child he would be Knight Sebring. Also, I loathed the incessant use of "Babe" and "Honey" as terms of endearment between Knight and Anya. I don't regret reading it, but don't get your hopes up, this isn't the next Fifty Shades.

Heather, I liked this book even though there was alot that bothered me about it.

I also did not go into it thinking it was the next fifty shades....I have read other books by this author and know her style is so totally different.

The author said she was testing the waters with this series to see if she had it to write this kind of novel. I will read book two and see what I think before I decide.

I know what you mean about "babe: & "honey" this author seems to do that alot....in The Gamble her heroine was constantly saying, "sorry?" as if she didn't hear what the hero in the novel said. And in Until the sun falls from the sky the hero was constantly calling the heroine "Pet." Which irritated the heck out of me. I think it is an author quirk or signature thing.....

As for this book....well, It still bothers me what happened at the end (especially)....but it is like eating chocolate cake that you can not resist even though there is ground up glass in it. Ya know what I mean?

Crazy4more - I really liked it. Not as much as the first book but I wasn't riled by what happened. Maybe I'm wired differently but I like the emotional kick you get from that type of storyline. BTW, the third book is out. I picked it up at the ubs a few weeks ago. I plan to read it in the next week or so while things are still fresh in my mind.

I've got my copy, too. Crazy4more, when you get yours from the library would either of you be interested in a buddy read of Shadow's Fall (Shadow World, #3) by Dianne Sylvan ? It would be fun to chat about the book. And LooLoo, since you've read them most recently, you can help us remember what's going on. : )

And if Abby catches up, she could join us, too.

I love Kitty Norville. They are really interesting and fun. I love how Kitty starts off a little meek (especially because of pack dynamics) but then starts to gain confidence. Each book she gets stronger and stronger. I love a good heroine.

It's urban fantasy though so not a ton of romance.

I really like Kitty, too! She starts out pretty weak and pathetic in the first book, but even by the end of it you can see her starting to become stronger and she evolves into a great character. What I really liked was that after the first book, I thought it was obvious where Carrie Vaughn was going with certain story lines. But she went in a totally different direction and I think the series is better for it.

So far I'm really enjoying the Kitty books. They are a bit different from most of the werewolf/shifter books I've read, but in a good way. Kitty is definitely not your average uf heroine. I really like how in just 2.5 books (that's how far along I am in the series) you see so much character development and growth.

There's definitely action and humour, and also some romance (though it's not a pnr). I can only recommend the books.

Up next is either Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2) by Pamela Clare or No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole . I'm not quite sure which I'm in the mood for now.

I will say this is one series where I thought the last three were the strongest of the series. It's sad to see a series go, but I'd rather it end on a high like this one than struggle on weakly like some series do.

I have read Guild Hunters. It has a darker feel than the Psy/Changelings. I didn't like the first book as much as the Psy/Changelings, but it's grown on me with each book and I absolutely loved the last two books in the series. But I've heard other people had the opposite experience: They loved the first book and have liked each subsequent one less. If you like her Psy/Changelings, I definitely recommend trying Guild Hunters.

Having only read the first two books of the Guild Hunter series, I have to agree that I'm part of the handful of people who loved the first book but didn't get quite a thrill from the second one. I still have to read Archangel's Consort and see what I'll think of it. And I'm itching to start the Psy/Changelings series. Everybody says it's to die for.

Well when I'm done w/ Psy/Changeling I might give Guild Hunter a try. If I like the first book and not the second I usually will at least give the third book a try and if the third falls flat for me then that usually does it for me. Most of the longer series I've read have at least one book that is just not as good as the others.

So soooo true, many authors do that with their series, though I think this one could have had a lot more books and still been fulfilling. There were so many of them where she was growing into herself, which I loved those, but I would have liked to get more mature Riley too.
