I rated the book 1 star. I hated the use of Daddy in the bedroom and (view spoiler)

Heather, I liked this book even though there was alot that bothered me about it.
I also did not go into it thinking it was the next fifty shades....I have read other books by this author and know her style is so totally different.
The author said she was testing the waters with this series to see if she had it to write this kind of novel. I will read book two and see what I think before I decide.
I know what you mean about "babe: & "honey" this author seems to do that alot....in The Gamble her heroine was constantly saying, "sorry?" as if she didn't hear what the hero in the novel said. And in Until the sun falls from the sky the hero was constantly calling the heroine "Pet." Which irritated the heck out of me. I think it is an author quirk or signature thing.....
As for this book....well, It still bothers me what happened at the end (especially)....but it is like eating chocolate cake that you can not resist even though there is ground up glass in it. Ya know what I mean?

Apparently stuff happens in the second book which lots of reade..."
Crazy4more - I really liked it. Not as much as the first book but I wasn't riled by what happened. Maybe I'm wired differently but I like the emotional kick you get from that type of storyline. BTW, the third book is out. I picked it up at the ubs a few weeks ago. I plan to read it in the next week or so while things are still fresh in my mind.

Christine & Crazy4more - I'd like to do a buddy read if you all want to. Just let me know when to start.

The toenails, that made me laugh so hard. Byrnlee is pretty funny.

Now I should finish reading

How are the Kitty Norville books? They look interesting, funny. I'm hoping they have some action, romance, & humor in them, do they?

Now I should finish reading

I love Kitty Norville. They are really interesting and fun. I love how Kitty starts off a little meek (especially because of pack dynamics) but then starts to gain confidence. Each book she gets stronger and stronger. I love a good heroine.
It's urban fantasy though so not a ton of romance.

Now I should finish reading

I'll probably give it a shot, Thanks

Now I should finish reading

I really like Kitty, too! She starts out pretty weak and pathetic in the first book, but even by the end of it you can see her starting to become stronger and she evolves into a great character. What I really liked was that after the first book, I thought it was obvious where Carrie Vaughn was going with certain story lines. But she went in a totally different direction and I think the series is better for it.

Now I should finish reading

So far I'm really enjoying the Kitty books. They are a bit different from most of the werewolf/shifter books I've read, but in a good way. Kitty is definitely not your average uf heroine. I really like how in just 2.5 books (that's how far along I am in the series) you see so much character development and growth.
There's definitely action and humour, and also some romance (though it's not a pnr). I can only recommend the books.

My choice would be At Grave's End. I love the Night Huntress books.

I totally agree. She is a drop everything else and read whatever's being released author for me.

I loved this series ... I was sorry to see it end.

Up next is either

I will say this is one series where I thought the last three were the strongest of the series. It's sad to see a series go, but I'd rather it end on a high like this one than struggle on weakly like some series do.

My favorite PNR series. And I love Judd!!!
Nalini Singh has a great talent for making me really feel what the characters are feeling and I love how well she balances the male and female characters in her books. The women are just as tough and important as the men.

I couldn't agree more. Have you read The Guild Hunter Series? If so what do you think of it?

My favorite PNR series. And I love Judd!..."
I have read Guild Hunters. It has a darker feel than the Psy/Changelings. I didn't like the first book as much as the Psy/Changelings, but it's grown on me with each book and I absolutely loved the last two books in the series. But I've heard other people had the opposite experience: They loved the first book and have liked each subsequent one less. If you like her Psy/Changelings, I definitely recommend trying Guild Hunters.

Having only read the first two books of the Guild Hunter series, I have to agree that I'm part of the handful of people who loved the first book but didn't get quite a thrill from the second one. I still have to read Archangel's Consort and see what I'll think of it. And I'm itching to start the Psy/Changelings series. Everybody says it's to die for.

I'm one of those who liked the first Guild Hunter but not the second and haven't read any further yet. I love Psy/Changeling tho. Judd and Hawke are my favorites.

I've nearly finished Shadowflame and just waiting for my copy of Shadow's Fall to arrive. Is it okay if I tag along on the buddy read? So far these books have really tugged at the emotions!

Well when I'm done w/ Psy/Changeling I might give Guild Hunter a try. If I like the first book and not the second I usually will at least give the third book a try and if the third falls flat for me then that usually does it for me. Most of the longer series I've read have at least one book that is just not as good as the others.

I absolutely loved Moning's Highland series ... Enjoy!!!!!

So soooo true, many authors do that with their series, though I think this one could have had a lot more books and still been fulfilling. There were so many of them where she was growing into herself, which I loved those, but I would have liked to get more mature Riley too.

What do you think about the New Species Series? I've been thinking about picking it up.

Well, I've only read the first book but I really liked it. A bit darker than others series such as Breeds or ACRO. I've just finished the fifth book of the Breeds series and I'm totally sold. :D

I loved the Breeds Series too. I think I finished the entire series in 1.5 months and I read a few other books in there too. LOL

It is a great series! Have you read the Dark Hunters or the BDB series?! My favorites and I haven't even finished them yet.

Yes I have I'm relegated to not so patiently waiting for each new book to come out. That doesn't bode too well for us instant gratificationists.

Acheron was my favorite ind the DH series ... it's in my top 10 of all time faves

I can't decide w/ BDB Lover Unbound or Lover Awakened ... though I think I've always leaned toward Zadist.

Have you read the Immortals After Dark Series by Kresley Cole? It's one of my faves too.

Oww. I LOVE the BDB series. Zsadist's book is on my top favorite of all time! No, I haven't read the IAD series yet, but I have it on my Kindle. Is it any good?

Love IAD ... great series .. I love that she brings in so many species and that they all touch each others lives in some way ... Nix is a hoot. You must read ... And if you like BDB and DH you will love The Lords of the Underworld and the Midnight Breed series.

I was so hooked to all of these series that I was averaging about 4 books a week ... many late night reads ... now I'm back to about 2 sometimes 3.

Great, looks like we can get a good size buddy read for Shadow's Fall. So what did you think of Shadowflame?

I'm one of those that loved the whole series. Including the anthology of short stories. I can't wait for Jason's book to come out.
