I liked hit list too. However, I thought Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris was just ok. I am looking forward to deadlocked so I hope it is as good as the earlier books.

P.A. Lupton (palupton) | 909 comments Its been a busy few days but I finally finished Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breed, #10) by Lara Adrian So good.

On another thread we were discussing series that get boring after too many books. I was worried this would happen here since it's the 10th in the series. I am so thrilled with the changes Lara Adrian made in this story. There are new species, new rules and a whole new reality. She's literally changed everything and it was excellent

I waited until I read Game of Thrones before watching it but the first season was good. I was so excited to start Clash of Kings but it was kinda slow to me especially considering what was going on. I have A Storm of Swords (book 3) ready to read as soon as I move a couple of my plate tho. I'm glad you're still hooked at book 4.

I really enjoyed The Rest Falls Away. I got the 1st 3 in the series super cheap at a used book story, then someone one here (sorry can't remember who) told me about the 1.5 for free on amazon. I am ready to start it, but have to finish off this months challenge or at least try too. That's why I am reading The Vampire Queen. I will probably finish it but I'm not sure if I will go on with the series. I like my erotica to have a little bit more of a plot. and so far for me it is lacking the page turner sensation. There are 7 more in the series. Have you read any of them? They have higher marks then this one.

Nina (msralways) | 528 comments I finally started Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward after putting it off for so long because I read reviews saying that it was even sadder then the others and I'm quite sensitive about the BDB stories. I really like John and I don't want to see him suffer, but I think I'm in for a big 'reality' check. Excited though. :)

I think most are afraid of taking the risk and disappointing fans. I love when I read something where clearly the author is just writing and letting the story flow and change.
This series was tied for me with Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I've been disappointed with the last two BDB books. With Darker After Midnight I think this series just inched ahead of BDB, for me anyway.

Yes, I agree. I think another good series that just took a good turn is LOTU. Paris' story started out terribly slow, but it turned out to be a great book and you can see new twists coming. I'm glad that she took her time with this book and wrapped up some thins in preperation for future stories. It left me in great impatient anticipation for the next one. Thats the same feeling I had when I finished Chase's story.

I just recently discovered the LOTU series and I'm only 4 books into it. I am greatly anticipating Paris story though. It's killing me not to skip ahead. In this vein what about IAD and Lothaire's book, I could definitely see the possibility for some new directions there. Although many have mentioned that they think Lothaire was the end of the series I couldn't disagree more.

Adrian's series was kind of hit and miss for me. I've read all but the latest and some I liked better then others. To me they're dark, the world they seem to portray is dark and dreary, not just violent but dreary. I learned of the series by a "if you like ______, you'll like ________" , from reading the BDB series. A few of the characters I could connect with but many of them just didn't seem to matter to me.

@ Mandy - I know "The Vampire Manifesto" did have misspeeling, missing words, and when I started to see "chapters" I wonder if it was even necessary since I was 60% into the book before seeing chapter 3 I believe. Well, I mostly buy my books so even if I didn't like the book during the course of reading it I will finish reading it because then I feel like I wasted by money. I won't read buy/read the next book in the series.

I'm finished The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins will start Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins tomorrow. I can't wait to see who Katniss will be with Gale or Peeta and also what happens between them/everyone and the Council.....

Crazy, I've read the whole series and agree its intense. If you at all liked Demon Angel keep reading because Meljean Brook does refine her writing style as the series goes on and each book gets better and better. I am just waiting for the final book to be written and its going to go off with a bang!
