Aaawww. I loved Stefan and his Mystery Machine van with ..."
I grew fond of him too throughout the series! At first I was a little unsure but I loved getting to know him.

Huh. I never thought of someone not reading a book because there's no sex. You usually only hear about just the opposite. But then, most of my favorite UF series have little to no sex in them.
You do learn something new everyday!

I'm kind of dissapointed in the Dark Ink Chronicles series. The 2nd one is better but it's repetative and the heroine is slightly annoying. I'll finish the series, it's not bad enough to quit or anything, but I've been so dissapointed by the last 2 vamp series I've picked up. I'm having no luck.

I'm not up to the most recent book yet, but I love his quirkiness and the aura of mysteriousness of Stephan. And you know he loves Mercy, I want to know how Briggs is going to explore that, because he is a vampire after all.

Really excited to give this one a try. I read an excerpt and I am hooked. I hate waiting. Thanks for the heads up!

I guess it's hard for me to really get on board with the love aspect when there isn't intimacy, or if we only read about a couple of kisses. It's frustrating to really love a couple, and they have a great chemistry, but there's no conclusive evidence of a sex life between them. I don't have to have sex in a book, (I like a lot of YA) but I guess when reading an adult novel, I've come to expect it, and it makes the romantic aspect more realistic.
On the other hand, like we were discussing earlier, I think a lot of authors rely too heavily on the sex to sell their books. I don't pick up a UF expecting erotica, and sometimes a book is more sex than substance. I dislike that, also. Happy mediums are good!

Wait til you get to Master Marcus and finally Master Raoul. IMO they are the best. And actually, in the last book there is a build up that makes me really want to read Master Sam's story.

PR is my first love after all. However, UF has great character, inventive stories and I love those too, I just like to have my little romance fix in the mix. ;D

Oh I'm excited! I like how they're starting to have more relationship developement in them and a little more suspense. I know it's erotica, but my favorites in the genre have a storyline to go with the hot sex. (ie: Rough Riders is still my favorite in the genre, and of course, I have your recc to thank for it ;) ) And finally it looks like the next couple will be longer!

I couldn't have said it better.

Absolutely agree! Just ranting about this exact same thing to someone last night. But I still really love the mercy Thompson series

LOL, do I get a cape?

Oooooo, and the cuffs and lasso. *jumping up and down* Thanks Magda, you're the best. LOL

And UF is my first love! I do love my PNR, but I can only take so much romance and sex before I need to go back to UF for a change of pace. However, I do think it's harder to write a really, really good PNR than a really good UF. In my opinion. It just seems a lot harder to balance out developing a believable romance with a believable plot rather than focusing on one to the detriment of the other. In UF, sure you have to develop relationships between the main character and their supporting cast, but it's just not the same as a full blown romance, so you get to focus a lot more on the plot beyond those personal relationships. So no matter what anyone says about the romance genre, I say kudos to those who do it well!

Okay, the Shadowland books have to be some of my fav, erotica, same with the Rough Riders by Lorelei James.
Books that have a good story along with really well written sex scenes are good reads, but if the sex is just there because the author thought okay it's been 50 pages I need to put in another sex scene no thanks. I just skim through those and get back to the story.
I love Mercy Thompson series, I think that as you continue to read them you get more invested in the characters and what is happening with them. I'm waiting to get the newest one, I know it's been out for a while but I always wait for the paperbacks because I really don't like hardcovers.
(Tired of getting smacked in the face when I fall asleep reading at night. ha, ha.)
I just got the first for the Riley Jensen series so I will give it a go.
I think that we are all individuals and what appeals to one doesn't appeal to all. I know that there was one series that people raved about, I got excited and bought the first one to try and it was one of the first books in a very long time that I did not finish. So one's person trash is anothers treasure.
That's what makes life interesting.
IMO.

I've done that! I set my expectations bar too high, forgetting that I may not like what everyone else does. It was that way with Georgina Kincaid and the Shifters series. Both were good, but not as good as I expected. It's crazy, the varying tastes we all have, yet we all like the genre.

If you're talking about the Dark Angels Risa's books they are really good. I've read the first two and can't wait till July for the next one!

I agree about disliking sex as a page filler and the believability of 25orgasms in hour But what I really want to know is exactly who is hogging the guy that is obviously the energizer lover -- you know the one that has at least 10 himself in an hour with no time to re-group and doesn't ever get tired? Is it you PA?

There is a little bit of sexy times although it doesn't happen until further along in the series. There's a lot of tension, though. And, the series is just plain awesome.

Not tons of sexytimes, but there is some, and the books get better and better. I LOVE Kate Daniels! And I LOVE CURRAN! I'm so jealous that you're just starting. He's so possessive and delicious!

ROTFL! Energizer lover! Like a bunny?! PA needs an allowance. Only so many a week.

He is such a slacker -- an Energizer Lover he is clearly not!

I love, love, love this series. I first read it three years ago, but just today finished listening to it on audio to refresh my memory. I just love how Kate and Curran interact. When she has the waiter deliver a saucer of milk to his table!?! Love it! You will eventually get some sexy, but I for one loved the build-up as much, if not more than, the culmination of their relationship.

The wham bam thank you madam ones seem to be what I have found more often in my life. Not that there has been many.
I know that reading is fantasy and escape but please there needs to be just a little touch of reality running through the stories.

I've had this one on my TBR shelf for quite a while. You guys are making me think that the dust needs of come off and I should give it a try.
Just what I need yet another series to fall in love with.
Thanks Guys!

5 star.
On to Magic in The Wind ~ Christine Feehan. Drake Sisters series.

Do you ever get the feeling that the folks writing some of those ridicules sex scenes are virgins or people who have not experienced any orgasms before? I like to believe it is the lack of experience and not the lack of writing ability that is behind bad writing about sex.

I read the first one....are the rest of the series better than that one?

Oh yes, the infamous first meeting. That was the moment the first book finally took off for me. I haven't read the Curran POVs yet. I've just recently started checking out the novellas and short stories that go with some of my favorite series. There are so many great moments between Kate and Curran. I love the scene where she pays some folks to use their phone and they give her the money back because the conversation was so entertaining. I believe that was in Book 3.

yup....maybe i will keep reading then.

Reading

i totally agree with ya Shawn. i'm also on Silver Borne and i would like more depth to Mercy and Adams relationship. it is getting better with each novel though.

awww Jenne, u need to give Stephen a little more time. in bks 3&4 u see more development in his character. he's not as goofy as he seems in the first two books. i hope u'll give the other bks in the series a chance someday. they do get better as u continue.

Giggles...With all of these discusions, I was going to let this series go until your comment. Gotta get me some "boom-chicka-bow-wa", lol.

The first book is probably the weakest, IMO. I'm on #5 and just adore Kate...LOVE Curran. There's something so honest, sweet and compassionate...yet such a bad-ass all wrapped in Kate.

I'm glad you got your hands on the audiobook. What do you think of Kate's voice? At first I didn't care for it bc it was too soft, but as I learned more about her characters (there's something vulnerable-sweet-honest), I loved it. My lib didn't have book 5 in audio so I'm reading instead, but I can still hear their voices. It's going to be a great read!
I know you loved Mercy Thompson too. I loved Kate, you think I'll like Mercy. I only read book 1. She's a little too much of a hard-ass. Am I wrong?
