new_user, I had two other things I wanted to tell you:
1. I have been using those little magnet bookmarks you sent me and loving them! They're perfect for small paperbacks. Thank you!
2. My turn finally came, and I got North & South from the library. I watched the first half yesterday and plan to watch the rest today. So far so good, though why is it that in these types of films, the guy just one day realizes he's in love and goes to propose marriage? I thought people back then "courted." You can't just bust that out on a girl.

message 2003: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I am currently reading Desire Unchained by Larissa Ione. Like it so far, but it's really too soon to judge.

message 2004: by new_user (last edited Apr 26, 2009 01:56PM) (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Yay! I wasn't sure if they would be useful to you over a traditional bookmark, so glad to hear you're liking them! :D

LOL, and I totally see your point about the sudden marriage proposal. That would probably be an unrealistic point in the romance, but if you think about it, they've been courting all along, albeit a stormy courtship, LOL. He always wanted her. He just had to get past her prejudice (this is like P&P in practice! LOL) I think you'll love Thornton by the end, I know I did! LOL.

I liked the first one, and was curious to see how the series would progress, I just haven't gone back to them for some reason. Must do so though.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments I just finished Lover Avenged yesterday. So, so good. Loved it! Going back to finish up Nightlife, which I'm enjoying.

I'm almost halfway, and I just have to say I LOVE Gem and Kynan. I loved them in book 1, too. I'm way more interested in their story than in the main characters.
And I'm loving the villain in this book. (I won't say who it is 'cause I don't want to spoil it for anyone.) But Ione made a reference to it being like a bad comic book, and it so is! He's so over the top, it's fantastic!

message 2009: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments I love Gem too. Out of the Brothers I like Shade the best and with his curse that just makes him more intersting. Yes the villian is great I am just loving that twist.

message 2010: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments I liked Gem and Kynan more than the main couple too, LOL.

message 2011: by Molly (new)

Molly (smkdhorse_lover) | 1 comments I just finished Lynn Viehl's Night Lost...GREATEST BOOK IN THE SERIES SO FAR!!!!

I'm reading Evermore now and counting down the clock to Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward. It comes out tomorrow, but I'll have to wait for it to arrive cuz I preordered it. So far Evermore's got me occupied, though, so I'm going to survive!

message 2012: by new_user (last edited Apr 27, 2009 05:54PM) (new)

new_user | 1389 comments LOL. Lucan is something else, isn't he?

Edit: Oh, wait, that's book three. Hm, book four was my least favorite, LOL. But still good!

message 2013: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 371 comments I finished Heat Stroke by Rachel Caine. I'm still not sure what I make of this series. I found this one harder to get into but by really enjoyed the end. She ends a book really well and sets it up for the next story arc.

I bought Gena Showalters Playing With Fire on eBook this morning, going to read this next.

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 371 comments I loved Playing with fire, looking forward to the next one.

I'm reading Desire Unchained now. Interesting start...

EDIT: Just finished it and it was much better than I thought it would be. I like Shade now ;)

message 2016: by [deleted user] (new)

I hate to say this, but I'm getting PNR fatigue. Yesterday I found myself reading Richard Dawkins just because I wanted to feel my brain working differently. I don't know if this happens to the rest of you? I've pretty much been on a solid PNR diet for about two months now. Have overdosed just a teeny bit, I think. But am still feverishly awaiting Stay the Night A Novel of the Darkyn hah!

message 2017: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Oh, yeah, it definitely happens. I change it up.

message 2018: by Leana (new)

Leana (craftychick) | 44 comments Hi guys. I am reading Old Magic by Marianne Curley. Being well out of the range of 6th or 7th grade, I stumbled upon this book when I visted Barnes & Noble {my happiest place on earth :)}. It so reminded me of something that I would have read though when I was that young. So naturally I had to get it! Ha, I know. Lame, but I couldn't resist.

I have about 100 pages left. Although it isn't my favorite book ever, I do like that the story is intense and that it took me for a loop from how I thought it would be. I am not too crazy about the characters though. I get that characters are supposed to be flawed, otherwise what would be the point. But I feel like the 2 in this book are so flawed that it is part of the story line and not just part of their behaviors. Maybe I am being too harsh. If anyone else loved it, let me know. I am so used to reading about Vampires and such though, that I love to read about magic every once in a while. So this is a fun change. It's a good in between filler book while I am waiting for other things to come out {like the next Sookie book!!! Woo hoo!!!}.

Leana :)

message 2019: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Finished Don't Ask, Don't Tell and while I NEVER thought I'd say this...I actually experienced "sex fatigue". I wanted more story. I love Rock & Rigger. For a couple of fags, they sure are "manly" men. As a marine and a cowboy from Texas, I guess there's no way they would ever be anything less then extremely macho. Although Rigger makes a mean batch of fried chicken and chocolate pie. Sex is how they show their affection for each other and they show it a LOT! Never do they utter the dreaded "L" word even though it's obvious they are crazy about each other. I think there is more story in subsequent books so I'm going to continue with the series. I'm too attached to these boys to give up now.

message 2020: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Fang Fatigue - I love it! You need to trademark it.

And I definitely have it. I'm listening to a non-paranormal book right now, and it's really refreshing. The next book I have planned will be non-paranormal as well.

Stav (voliotisa) | 291 comments Finally finally reading The Last Watchand I'm hoping it makes up for the last couple of days I wasted reading the The Nymphos of Rocky Flats A Novel

message 2023: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 371 comments Just finished Lover Avenged. My God that was a good book.
I've had books arriving over the last couple of days and I've been itching to pick them up but most are for next month's challenges and not for fun. When this arrived today I squealed like a little girl, danced a little then prayed the baby would sleep while my eldest was at nursery... I'm grinning like an idiot and I think my husband is contemplating a straight jacket!

message 2024: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Just finished City of Glass. This is the last book in the YA series The Mortal Instruments. I loved this series and wish she would write an adult book fast forwarding a few years into the future. I want to know which girl Simon chooses and if Jase and Claire get married. It would make for a great PNR read.

message 2025: by Mandy (new)

Mandy | 8 comments I just started Dark secrets by Christine Feehan I haven't read any of her other books and I'm not really far in this one yet but I have to say so far I really like it. Are the other ones any good?

message 2026: by Leana (new)

Leana (craftychick) | 44 comments I haven't read any of her books yet, but she is on my list of to read. It's a long, long list! I'll have to see how you like it for sure! I love Sookie Stackhouse. If you haven't read it, totally try it! Hope it helps :)

Leana

message 2027: by Leana (new)

Leana (craftychick) | 44 comments I just finished City of Ashes. I liked it a lot too! I agree with wanting the author to write an adult series. It would be awesome! Or like you said, continuing the story. I am contemplating waiting for City of Glass to come out in paperback or borrowing my friends who has it in hardback until I buy it. What do you think? Is it one I should read right now? I am really wanting to know what happens but I don't want to get it in hardback because the other ones I have are in paperback. Lame, I know :)

Happy Reading!

Leana :)

I've read the Drake Sisters series and a few of the carpathian short stories in some anthologies, which were pretty good. I have heard that her Ghostwalkers series is the best, but I haven't read it yet.

I'd borrow your friends book. I read soooo many books in between City of Ashes and City of Glass that I forgot a lot of things. That could be just my age talking too but I would have liked to have read them closer together.

message 2032: by Virginia (last edited Apr 30, 2009 11:08AM) (new)

Virginia I just finished an ARC of Judi Fennell's Wild Blue Under. Fun, light, bubbly read: sexy Mer man, talking birds, princely peril under the sea. The Little Mermaid (the Disney one) with sex.

I'm anxiously awaiting Nora Robert's Vision in White and Mary Balogh's next Huxtable novel. Neither one PNR, come to think of it.

Thanks! I think I just may. I don't usually like to re-read books, but I find myself doing it more with all the series that I am into. So if I wait, I just may have to do that with Ashes too. You're the best! :)

What book are you reading right now? And what is the next one? :) I love my audio books! It allows me to multi-task!!!! I am listening to Stephanie Plum #10 on my Ipod right now. But I am reading Old Magic. Old Magic isn't my favorite book. I am liking it less and less as I get closer to the end.

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 443 comments Just finished "Kiss of the Highlander" by KM Moning and loved it, so am jumping right into the next one, "The Dark Highlander" , about Drustan's brother Daegus. The last page in 'Kiss' hooked me, so even though this will be my 5th paranormal in a row (usually I switch for a while after 2 or 3) I'm already on chapter 2.

For those who are reading/thinking about reading Christine Feehan - her GhostWalker books are fantabulous!!!
