What are you reading right now?
Moss wrote: "No, I didn't hate it. I'm interested in the next one. Dante was...complicated. I'm hoping In the Blood un-complicates him a little for me."Probably not going to un-complicate him, though you will learn more about his past. And more about his unbelievable awesomeness. But if you weren't blown away by Rush of Wings, you'll probably feel similarly about In The Blood.
As Michelle said, it was bound to happen, I suppose not everyone can love everything... but I feel just a teeny bit heartbroken.
Nichole... ::snifflesniffle::
Shall we have a moment of silence to lament the lack of love? I think we shall.
::sniffle::
Ah, who needs that Moss chica anyways!!
Tee hee hee

It is sad. I was all set to share in the love and gushing but alas, no. Hmm and it sounds like I'll have to pass on the second book also. Ah well.

Nichole and Michelle, I guess we'll just have to love Dante and the books enough to make up for Moss. ;)
So, I hate giving up on books and I'll usually push through them, but I've begun to realize that there are too many books out there (let alone too many unread ones currently on my book shelves) to stick with one that I'm just not enjoying. So, for that reason I have decided to put down Ghostland today. I'd never heard of Jory Strong before I bought the book - sucked in by the gorgeous cover - so I wasn't familiar with her background in erotica books. I'm not prudish in any way, and can enjoy a good dose of smut as much as the next girl, but this is too much for me. Not enough story line to go along with the smut. Plus some of her euphemisms are driving me mad, not to mention her comparisons to horse genitalia. Honestly, it's all too much for me, so gorgeous cover be damned, I'm not finishing this book.I'm off to start La Vida Vampire, which I've actually heard really good things about.
I just finally started Rush of Wings. I only got through the first chapter last night before i was ready to pass out, so no idea how much I'll like or dislike it. Although, Moss has me a bit worried.
Need to take a break from PNR/UF books, so I started Bodyguard by Suzanne Brockmann, one of her earlier books before Troubleshooters. They say Harry is like a proto-type for Sam Starett, so will see.
Michelle M. wrote: "DarkHeart...my jaw dropped at "horse genitalia." My word!"ewww....lol
Just wanted to state I too am a Dante Baptiste lover...err fan...I mean a fan of A Rush of Wings...has anyone read In the Blood yet?
Michelle M. wrote: "DarkHeart...my jaw dropped at "horse genitalia." My word!"LMAO, I thought it was bad enough the first time, but when the heroine made the comparison again, I was suddenly glad that my experience with horses is so limited. I'm sure plenty of people will love the book, it just wasn't for me.
Stav wrote: "...Just wanted to state I too am a Dante Baptiste lover...err fan...I mean a fan of A Rush of Wings...has anyone read In the Blood yet?"Read it. Loved it. Fell more in love with both Dante and Von. =D
I just finished Ecstasy: Shadowdwellers by Jacquelyn Frank and I can honestly say I enjoyed it. I was suprised, I don't know what I was expecting but I really did like it. I like pleasant suprises!Has anyone read any of Nalini Singh's standalone books? Like Craving Beauty?
I'm starting Dark Defender by Alexis Morgan, I liked the first one and I'm in the mood for a light read.

Nawww, don't pay any attention to me, I'm just a newbie at this. Michelle and DH are way more sophisticated with their PNR choices.
Ha! Horse genitalia! The final frontier. Or maybe not. Hmm...fish genitalia? The scrotal sac of the lesser finch?

DarkHeart, you say that your experience with horses is limited...my my my. Any experience at all is quite shocking. Muah hah hah hah!
That comment above should show everyone exactly how sophisticated I am, Moss. All it lacked was a Catherine the Great reference. What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

You had to mention Catherine didn't you...funny thing is I was thinking that when I saw the first post on horse genitalia...lol

It depends on the coconut. And on the weight ratio.
I've got the grumblies from not having anything good to read, and not having read anything good for a while.
Oh wait, you said unladen swallow. My question to you is, why isn't it laden? Goddamned swallows.

Because all the coconuts were in use by horseless knighta. It's not the swallow's fault. Really it's all back to the horses.

Wow... I walked right into that one, didn't I? LOL
I'm going to re-read the first two Cassie Palmer books before reading the next two. It's a confusing world and I want to refresh my memory before diving back in. Do they slow down any? There was so many character's and creatures it got confusing... or maybe it was just me!
Just finished Gena Showalter's Playing With Fire yesterday afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it!Last night, my hubby volunteered to go pick up the new Dresden book for me, so I read about 1/2 of it last night. Jim Butcher is doing such a good job with those - I just love 'em!
As a charter member of the Dante fan club I say a pox on you Moss for not loving him. But that's okay cause that just means more of him for me :)Just finished Raine and wow...loved it. Jordon, the heroine in this book is so amazing. I can't say much about her without giving away to much but trust me, she is unlike any other woman you've ever read about. I don't shock easy, but when I started this book I was blown away. This series is so HOT!
Started At Grave's End. Awww...Bones. I needed my Bones fix.

I wouldn't say slow down, and there's always more characters, but by the 3rd book you should be comfortable enough with the main group of characters so it's easier to read/understand... I'm on book 4 now myself and of course its action from page 1, so I had to really force myself to focus the first few pages in.

Lori....remember...you must share! there are plenty of us out there that do love Dante :)
I have a question..... just curious about the BDB series is Lover Avenged the last one for her series or will there be more? I just finished Phury's book and I am waiting for the next one...but I hope there is more I really like them!
There will be at least 3 more after Rhev's book - JM, Payne and Tohr. Maybe more after that, but nothing's set in stone except for those three.
Lauren wrote: "Thanks thats good news "Unfortunately we're only getting one a year now though, with the start of her new Fallen Angel series, starting with Covet. I'm expecting to lover this series, but I'll miss the Brothers.
I have that on my TBR too I like her writing alot so Im sure I will like that series too. But you are right about missing those brothers *sigh*

Thanks, I first read them years ago and couldn't remember who everyone was. I remember re-reading parts to make sure I understood what happened so, I was a bit worried. Let me know if you enjoy the 4th one?
*MAY BE SPOILER*Did anyone remember it was Dante Baptistes 24th birthday.....yesterday:)
i read In the Blood twice cover to cover in 7 days::i love Dante *can i join his fan club too* and Von::

sure....wow, I had to do that myself, like back track at parts cause it was 15 names thrown at you at once all of course during some perfectly crazy moment of course involving guns and lots of fighting...
Have you read Midnight's Daughter, the spinoff series she started....I did and really liked it, better than Cassie....I highly recommend it if you haven't read it yet.

i really loved a rush of wings and in the blood both are totally awesome. i finished in the blood a couple of weeks ago. i went into a borders and it was on the shelf and i about fainted. there is so many surprises in that one. and it sets up the next one. and oh yeah i love dante so much. he makes you want to just hug him. love him. i love the character of heather as well. and von. but i think it is dante that keeps me coming back for more.
Stav wrote: "Michelle wrote: "Stav wrote: "Michelle wrote: "I'm going to re-read the first two Cassie Palmer books before reading the next two. If it doesn't get picked I'll probably read it anyway. I'm optimistic now! Thanks.
I'm almost done with The Darkest Kiss by Gena Showalter. It was kind of a slow start; I liked it but didn't love it, and couldn't help but compare the writing to Kresley Cole and Showalter was not benefitting from the comparison...But as the book has gone on it's gotten much better and I'm definitely into it now. I'm excited to see how they're gonna get out of this pickle! And there's a subplot involving Paris and one of his women that's really really good.
When done, I'll either keep working on Vulnerable by Amy Lane, or I'll start Bitten by Kelley Armstrong.

Just finished Raine twice now, and ordered all the books in the series. Have many great hopes.
Jennifer, you're like the tenth person to mention La Vida Vampire. I'm thinking I may have to read this book.

La Vida Vampire is the BOM over in the Paranormal and Urban Fantasy group this month, which is probably why so many people have read it lately. I just finished it this morning and thought it was okay.To help get me in the mindset for the 10 YA titles I'm expecting to have delivered next week (it's an obsession LOL), I'm starting The Summoning this morning.
I've added Adrian as a friend:):: want to join Dantes fan club:)::and learn Cajun :) Ha Ha:: i'm between books so will re-read *A Rush of Wings* cos i know its one of the books that i will re-read cover to cover without skipping any sections::these books are so damn good:: i don't know what it is about Dante Baptiste perhapes its because he's a complicated character::something to get my teeth into no pun intended::
I stumbled upon this amazing author Larissa Ione, who writes the Demonica series. I'm half way through the first "Pleasure Unbound" and have 2 and 3 on deck. Yeah... it's THAT good!Lora Leighs Nauti Intentions should be here Tues. I'm so siked! (love those Nauti boys)
What I can't wait for:
JR Wards "Lover Avenged" (April 28th) **Happy Dance**
LKH "Skin Trade" (June 2)**please don't suck**
Patricia Briggs (Mercy Thompson) "Homecoming" (July)
Majorie M Liu "Darkness Calls" (june 30)
i have the Demonica series on my *to read shelf*::think i may see if i can borrow the first one from the library::then if i enjoy i can buy the series::at the moment i'm suffering from a serious case of hooked on Dante tho:)::

I love the darkyn series I think my favorite has to be Jaus. his story was tragic at first. I was glad he got his own book. I too am not a big Dante fan. I read A rush of Wings and thought what was all the hype about. I will read In The Blood but it's not a priority right now. Also I felt that way about Pleasure Unbound but bought the next two just because first books always suck to me.
I just finished Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon and am now going to start on Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh.

I like that one it was kind of scary, gory, horrifying, sad, and maybe even a little redeeming. I thought it was a romance book I think they even advertise it as a love triangle...did the guy who did PR even read the book.
Anyway I would suggest skipping the second one I started it a few weeks ago and put it down...so who knows
