Hubby didnt like 300 but I did for the eyecandy alone....LOL

My problem with series such as L.A. Banks vampire Huntress series is that to the newly discovered there are so many to find and dang that gets expensive. although I was lucky enough to get ahold of her Crimson Moon series so far. Haven't read them yet.

Kathy | 65 comments I'm reading Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur.

I just finished Lynsay Sands new book The Immortal Hunter and I'm looking forward to her next one Renegade Hunter.

I moved away from Ward and am reading Storm Front by Jim Butcher

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Listening to the audiobook of Seduced by Moonlight by Laurell K. Hamilton.

PLEEEEEASE tell me Merry doesn't get it on with Kurag!!! You just never know with her.

Umm... LOL I must admit I only made it about 2/3 of the way through that audiobook (why did she suddenly change the pronunciations for this one?), but I know the answer to your question.

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 371 comments 300 was described to me as "Yummy men with gorgeous chests and amazing thighs". Can you tell what I watched that night?

I finished visions of heat, wasn't as good as slave to sensation but I still liked it. I'm now reading Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur

Uh-oh, that's not a good sign.

Yeah, what is with the pronunciation? Dole? Did Doyle suddenly become a banana between books?

Michelle: How are you liking Deadly Desire? I'm about halfway and so far I think it's just okay. Kind of a "take it or leave it" kind of a book. I have not been sucked in.

On Deadly Desire...
I'm only about a 3rd of the way through it but it hasn't grabbed me like the earlier books did. There doesn't seem to be as much going on and i'm still not entirely sure what I think of Quinn.

I am enjoying Deadly Desire so far but it isn't as good as some of her other books.

Beyond The Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning. :)

message 1864: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments I just started Bloody Bones and I think I dislike Anita a little more each book. In a way I feel bad for her since she has no life and no friends (save Ronnie). I mean Edward is always like oh 'Hi great to see you Anita so listen do what I want or I am going to kill you'...UGGG shoot him already geez. Then at other times I just want to smack he and ask are you really this self righteous.I am also hoping that she will stop calling Jean-Claude a monster I think he is a terrific vamp.

Then I am also trudging through Acheron and I must admit the first half I cried a river but it was great. I love how all of the dots where connected in regard to Acheron, Apollymi, Artemis, and the Daimons. FANTASTIC!! But now I am in the second half
and I am not buying this romance with chickadee I cannot even recall her name Tory Tammy I have no clue anyway here is to hoping there is more to this woman than I have seen

message 1865: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Dawn, I ranted about Tory on the bitch slap board. I hated her. Couldn't see the relationship for a variety of reasons. Don't want to hand out spoilers, but when you're done, read the review I wrote. I totally ripped apart the second half!

Made me angry. Very angry!

The first part though was phenomenal. Loved it and like you said, it answered so many questions...and created more!

As for Anita, she is quite self-righteous. But I actually love Edward. For some reason, he's one of my favorite characters. Probably because he's the only one that doesn't just jump when Anita says boo!

Still reading Stray by Rachel Vincent. Good prose, and getting to the part with some action/suspense. Although I can't fully empathize with Faythe. I feel like most of her actions are pretty immature, but then I have to remind myself, she is young.

Also listening to the second Cassie Palmer book. I like this one better than the first one, and of course, I just enjoy hearing Cynthia Holloway's voice.

Yz,

I understand completely how you feel about Cassie Palmer... I feel that as a series it gets better with each book, and by this point, you have an idea of who the characters are so you're able to focus on the actual story instead of trying to figure out who is who and plays what role...I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 1020 comments Mod
Stav,

I almost didn't give Cassie a second chance, but I got a look of feedback here in GR that the series gets better. Also, it didn't hurt that they have Cynthia Holloway as the reader, since I can listen to that woman read a shopping list...LOL

It is definitely non-stop action, and with familiarity with previous characters, it gets more exciting now...

message 1872: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments I love Cassie Palmer! Also had issues with the first book. Too much of an info dump at the beginning.

Haven't read the 4th installment yet, but 2 and 3 were awesome.

And loving Mircea certainly doesn't hurt a bit.

Lori (moderatrixlori) Last night I started reading Daughters of Terra. I'm really enjoying it. It reminds me a lot of Morgan Hawke's Interstellar Service & Discipline Series. It's got everything I love, M/M/F, sci-fi, shape shifters... Yummy!

Also since I was not into my other books I picked up a third and started Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyon and it is fantastic! I started it last night and I am almost done. Totally recommend this book.

Stav (voliotisa) | 291 comments I'm currently reading Undead and Unwed. Pure comedy...how can you not love queen Betsy....and the shoes!.. I needed an uplifting book after all the doom & gloom (although it was sexy doom&gloom) I've just read back to back. I think it's a perfect blend of UF and Chick-lit...sort of like a much better groomed Bridge Jones waking up as a vamp.

speaking of audiobooks, has anyone "read" the audiobook of Twilight? I did a few months ago on youtubne of all places, and really enjoyed it...I felt like I got another look at it, in someone else's voice, and actually liked Bella.

message 1878: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 371 comments I finished Nightlife by Rob Thurman and to be honest I struggled through most of it. I'm certainly not in a hurry to read the next two in the series.

I needed a pick-me-up so I'm now reading Caressed by ice (3rd Psy-changeling) by Nalini Singh. I'm really enjoying it so far, much better than the 2nd one.

message 1879: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey So I got an email yesterday from the library saying Fragile Eternity had come in for me, so I just had to run there before work to get it. Loving it so far, wish I had more time before tonight to read it!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Stav wrote: "...speaking of audiobooks, has anyone "read" the audiobook of Twilight? I did a few months ago on youtubne of all places, and really enjoyed it...I felt like I got another look at it, in someone else's voice, and actually liked Bella."

I actually just finished listening to all four audiobooks and I really enjoyed them (I was already a big fan of the series). For Eclipse and Breaking Dawn they bring in a male narrator to read the bits from Jake's perspective, which is nice.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Michelle wrote: "I finished Nightlife by Rob Thurman and to be honest I struggled through most of it. I'm certainly not in a hurry to read the next two in the series..."

That's disappointing to hear as I have that in my pile of challenge books for the month. Will have to see what I think of it.

Wow!! Your library is awesome. The book release date is Apr 21 and they already got the book. I'm jealous. :)

message 1884: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Lori: That one sounds interesting!

Jennifer: The first...60 pages or so? of the first book was horrid. She just threw all of her world-building at you. Yz is right, the rest have been action-packed and things are way easier to understand now. I'm enjoying it!

What's with the "first book is meh" trend? I can think of many we've had this problem with. The first is disjointed and clunky, while the rest of the series is fab...

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments I'm trying to read The Queen's Bastard by C.E. Murphy. Having trouble with it. Essentially, she's an assassin in a mock-Elizabethian environment, and she finds that she has magic powers...

Powers which at the moment seem to boil down to her being an empath, and her having once hidden unnoticed in the shadows.

I find it slow-moving. Has anyone else read it?

Finished Stray last night. The last few chapters was definitely hair-raising. I will continue with this series, coz I'm curious of how Faythe's character will develop, and Rachel Vincent's prose is quite clear and crisp.

Michelle: Caressed by Ice is my fave Psy/Changeling book. Singh is so talented, she can make a cold, aloof Psy into one hot, sexy male.

message 1888: by Kristen (last edited Apr 15, 2009 08:19AM) (new)

Kristen Harvey My library processes hold items first (I know 'cause I used to work there), so they probably processed right when they got it. The only dates they've really held books to for release are big titles like Harry Potter and probably best sellers.

I also asked them to order it a month in advance.. hehe.

It's my favourite of the series so far, looking forward to seeing where she takes it next. I'm really glad you recommended the series to me. Thank you!

I'm going to read a challenge book next, Ecstasy (Shadowdwellers) by Jacquelyn Frank. Has anyone read it? Thought's?

Wotcher fellow PNR readers strong in the Force,

I finished Rush of Wings yesterday. Okay so I know saying this will mean we'll never run away together to Vegas for a quickie wedding, but, um, it was just okay for me. I liked the writing okay, and I liked Dante okay and I liked the plot somewhat kind of okay. Actually, Dante was complicated and I didn't get into him emotionally at all, and I didn't get the h/h relationship a whit.

And I read Love Bites and meh.

And I read a Blood Ties Book One The Turning and meh.

Which is, statistically, more meh than there should be, ne? So maybe it's just me and I need to readjust all previously held values and look deep into myself and learn to love again.

message 1897: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments I shall not whip out the pitchforks or call the rabble to arms, Moss. Someone was bound not to love Rush. I shall console myself with the thought that okay is still better than dislike!

message 1900: by [deleted user] (new)

oooh a stoning.

All I'm saying is that that piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah.

No, I didn't hate it. I'm interested in the next one. Dante was...complicated. I'm hoping In the Blood un-complicates him a little for me.
