I am tying to finish my reserve books before I start on my purchases and as such I keep staring at A Rush of Wings...will I never be satisfied?? First all I did was stare at Acheron and now this one LOL

Hey Dawn
I did like it, yup. I like her writing--I think she's elegant with it, and paces herself well. But I know what you mean, the romance element was very background, and everything was SO packed with symbolic meaning and memory etc etc, it was almost distracting. I liked the Tracker though, I thought that had potential.

I'm reading Gil's All Fright Diner right now...."
I'm really liking it. It's my first book by Pratchett, but my mom said she read it without reading the other books and still liked it. It's a little nutty, but it's tons of fun.

Moss.....enjoy it....Dante Dante Dante ... :)
Even though I have a pile of books at home that need to be read, I was feeling uninspired by any of them, so went on a buying spree at out little local book store. Unfortunately, they are not good at stocking much besides new releases and I am feeling the urge to start a new series. So there were a lot of series books but they were all way into the series.
Anyway, I picked up the second Anita Blake book, The Laughing Corpse. Obviously this is not PNR, which is probably why I wasn't in love with the first one, but I decided to give it another try. So far it is okay.
I also found A Rush of Wings, which everyone has been talking about. For some reason, I don't think I would have picked this one up based on its description, but I've seen lots of good reviews.

A Rush of Wings is really really really good...you won't regret reading it....trust me,or everyone else who's read it and posted about it here.
I know what you mean by looking at it...the cover is really deceiving.

Just look up "Lynn Viehl" in the goodreads search bar, and it'll come up with all the Darkyn books, with the order number.

I am reading A Rush of Wings right now and I really hope it ends up being a FABULOUS book! The past few books have been 3 and 4 stars for me and I'm feening the "man that book blew me away" feeling.... You know what I mean?

I haven't read the series yet but hopefully this helps. It's in the middle of the page

Lori: I wouldn't have picked it based on the description either, but I had to see what all the hype was about! Hope you enjoy it-otherwise, you can flog us publicly.

I am fairly new to the PNR/UF genre and loving it :)
I am currently reading Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost and really enjoying it.
The small town feel reminds me a lot of the Southern Vampire Series.
Next I will continue on with Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen - I am finished the first 3 books and will be moving on to the 4th.

I am currently in the midst of Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur and The Darkest Kiss by Gena Showalter. Both are better than Night Embrace, but neither has really grabbed me yet. I feel like I'm reading them just to finish so I can mark them off for the April challenge, and not because I'm actually interested in reading them. I hope at least one or two of my other April books captures me.

on to the BDB#1....

I loved most of it...some of it just didn't make sense though.....the best part was that Artemis almost got her just desserts (I say almost because she really needs to suffer physically for a while as well IMO).
I'm looking forward to Dark Lover....but I'm afraid to start it now this minute as I might not get any sleep tonight!

There were so many ways I wanted to see the heffer goddess get her "just desserts" I was just glad to see Ash finally happy. After reading the entire series...yeah, it was his turn!
Dark Lover is an excellent read. There is so much detail, so much information given to the reader, laying the foundation for the whole series. I hope you will love it as much as the rest of us do!

I like Mortal Instruments books. I am not really sure about Evernight. It's may be to early to tell. We will see.

A woman after my own heart. I don't like any of those authors. Gave all those books a decent shot (actually finished all three of those books. Hours of my life I'll never get back), and ah yeah. Not so much. They all ring the same bells for me: ding, dong the witch is dead, the hero is good, the woman is pure and good, travail travail sorrow and huzzah! Good triumphs. Sex is had.
And..sigh..yes I know there but for the grace of etc etc, but there's premise and then there's execution, yanno?

I enjoyed Evernight myself, but it has a lot more high school drama than the Mortal Instruments books do. I'm hopefully going to get Stargazer when it comes into the library.
I'm hoping to finish up my ARC copy of Storm Glass today and then maybe pick up Iron Kissed.

I hear about ARC's, and I'm wondering how a person can take advantage of that? Advance Reader Copy?

Finished two books last night, Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris and Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs.
Dead to the World is definitely the Eric-turned-around book, although I do feel sad at the end. Now, I need to know what happens next...darn Urban Fantasy books. Oh..and since its an audiobook, I can't say enough praises for Johanna Parker's performance...just wonderful reading.
Ironkissed...what a read. I'm glad Mercy made her choice, but I wished it didn't happen after that horrible event. Quite emotional at the end, but ended satisfactorily to my taste. Now, I'll be looking out for the next book.
Picked up an anthology today, Tapestry. After reading all these UF books, I need some stories with my guaranteed HEA to get my "feel-good" fix..LOL

Thank you for the information! My son LOVES Ranger's Apprentice. Just yesterday he had me looking to see when the next book comes out.

I had Tapestry but only read Dragonswan from it. Now I wish I had read them all. At the time I didn't like Anthologies, but I've been introduced to some awesome writers that way. Most notably, JR Ward's BDB with The Story of Son.

Uniquely Moi,
I used not to like anthologies too, but lately, reading novellas as a quick read between full-length novels can be a nice breather.
I did pick this anthology because I wanted to read Into the Dreaming by Karen Marie Moning, so I can completely finish her Highlander series.

It sounds like a great deries.

Jericho does not become less bitchy.
I don't know that I ever thought Mac was "bitchy" per se, but very naive and a little shallow. She does undergo a character arc and learns and grows at the series goes on, but I think if Mac and Jericho annoy you now it's probably not going to get much better.

Happily Ever After - I had to ask, too.
Jennifer,
Mac does not come across as bitchy to me, more like shallow and naive...and Jericho, will just continue to annoy you...if you don't like him already.
I like the Fever series, although it drives me "nuts". However, if you are not enthralled by the first book, then this might not be the series for you.

Right now I'm reading Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur. I adore Riley Jensen :-)

I'm in the mood for a decent were book next or maybe a series... Have a few waiting to be read. Has anyone read Eileen Wilks? Are they any good?

Maybe it's because I also write in that same shorter format, but I find you can really get a feel for a writer's style and not have to invest a lot of time. We never have enough of that.

Thanks, I will look out for that and add it to my "to be bought" list. I've been looking for a new were series for a while and it caught my eye.
Adrian Phoenix's book has been on the list since January aswell, but I kept passing it over for something else. I'm rethinking that decision after reading the reviews on here and will buy it next month.
