From what I can tell based on all the threads here, I think you're not alone in not liking the dream hunters as much. I haven't read them so I can't comment.

But I'm just in general not a Dark Hunter fan. I liked but didn't love Fantasy Lover, but have had a hard time plugging through both Night Pleasures and Night Embrace. I've decided I just don't like Kenyon's writing. The stories are fine, there's nothing wrong with her plots or her characters, it's just her writing turns me off and I can't get invested in the story. I'm a little bit more interested in this one now that I'm, like, 270 pages in, so I think I should be able to finish it tonight. And I picked Dance With The Devil for my April challenge, so I'm going to read that one. But unless some miracle occurs while I'm reading it, I'm going to stop there.

ROFL You said "I feel you" Shades of Butch and V. ROFL

Oh, I sobbed reading Ashe's story. My daughter wouldn't read it because of how it affected me. For awhile I was questioning whether or not I was getting too involved with the stories then I slapped myself silly for even considering such a thing and finished the book. LOL

I get it alot from my sister too! They just don't understand how a great book can just pull you in!

I tell my boyfriend all about what I'm reading. I dont care if he wants to hear about it. If he complains, I tell him he's just jelous. He benefits from the "side effects" that were mentioned, so I figure its a fair trade ; )

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Maybe I'll wait til my husband is sleeping and have at him with a permanent marker!

message 1559: by Josephine (new)

Josephine (tyrrel) | 43 comments Michelle, I am in envy of your husband's tattoo. My husband won't ever do it and it does sound hot! My husband has biker helmet, leathers, and goatee so I don't have any room to whine. (I've never been into facial hair, but it's good on him.) I can't wrap my hands around his forearms even when he's out of shape. When he works out, he finds even the XXL shirts strain on his shoulders and arms. All of this is why I fell in love with his looks; his complicated mind and intelligence are why I love him still.

Michelle | 79 comments OH man Josephine! Sounds like you have your own Vishous sleeping next to you ever night!!!!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish My husband's strength is not in his body, but in his heart and his willingness to put up with me.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Uniquely Moi, the only Dream Hunter I am WILD about is Xypher. I think it's Dream Chaser? Do NOT skip his! It's way more like a Dark Hunter story and also includes characters for the new arc. The rest of the Dream Hunters feel like what they are: filler.

Yes, that's exactly what they feel like, filler! And yes, again to Dream Chaser. I've read them all because I'm too OCD to skip any, but my favs of Kenyon's are Dark Hunters, with Ash being my hero.

Josephine (tyrrel) | 43 comments Michelle, there are also many differences but he does design and maintain his employer’s computer network. He also keeps his military haircut. But I thank goodness he doesn't smoke and always believed in monogamy with a woman. He stood by me with two bouts of breast cancer and still desires me even though I weigh more after our two children. I remind myself these things when he puts his foot in his mouth by asking if I am looking for a job now that I got laid off and if I do anything around the house. His romantic proposal consisted of standing in our kitchen as we looked at my engagement ring and saying, “Well, put it on already.” After this many years, I just tell him what he should have said to a woman and he gives me a look showing he’s perplexed and doesn’t understand the differences between the two. Ahh, well, maybe in another 10 years, he’ll be trained.

Is that your husband in the photo? If so, you too are a lucky woman.

On topic, I hope to go and pick up Passion Unleashed today. CAN'T WAIT!

Jess | 173 comments I just finished Curse the Dawn by Karen Chance and Oceans of Fire by Christine Feehan.

The Drake sisters books are okay.. but I don't like them as much as I do her Carpathians and Ghostwalkers series. And her Carpathians series is really starting to grow on me. The first 2 or 3 books were okay, but I feel like they've been getting better as I've moved along. Anyway, next up is The Wild Road and Deadly Desire

Same here, Uniquely Moi. Just finished Dark Curse, and now seeing Razvan in a new light, I'm just curious on whats next for the Carpathians. Also I want to know about where was Ivory all this time?

I have Wild Rain in my April Challenge list. I've read the first story in an anthology (On the Prowl? not sure)..and it looks like it has potential.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Yz wrote: "Same here, Uniquely Moi. Just finished Dark Curse, and now seeing Razvan in a new light, I'm just curious on whats next for the Carpathians. Also I want to know about where was Ivory all this time..."

I'm excited to learn more about Ivory, and thrilled that perhaps Razvan is an ok guy if for no other reason than Natalya's sake.

***SPOILER ALERT*** I love all the De La Cruz brothers. The only thing I didn't like about Dark Curse was that Lara and Nicolas can't complete the mating because she's afraid of losing her ability. And I know that's so important to the survival of the race, but still...I am hoping it gets resolved soon.
***END ALERT***

I have the book called Fever, which is the first 2 books of the Leopard series, The Awakening and Wild Rain. I'm holding off on reading those until Burning Wild comes out in September (I think).

My daughter loved the Ghostwalker books, but not so much on the Drake Sisters.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Jess wrote: "Uniquely Moi wrote: "Jess wrote: "I just finished Curse the Dawn by ..."

The Leopards Series by Feehan is The Awakening, Wild Rain and coming soon, Burning Wild.

Christine Feehan's website is a treasure trove of information. I love listening to the chants from the Carpathians.

www.christinefeehan.com

It's one of the best author websites I've seen. Books listed in order, trailers for the books, all kinds of great stuff.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Sue, I didn't love High Stakes. I've got the next sitting here, in the hopes that things get better in book 2. The main character was so unbearably bitchy!

message 1577: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish (last edited Apr 01, 2009 04:23PM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Ok, I was just at Christine Feehan's website and Burning Wild is now set for April 28th. That makes 3 books coming out on that day; Lover Avenged, Burning Wild and Storm Glass.

By the way, I never see this series mentioned, but if you want a great story check out Maria V. Snyder's Study series. Poison Study, Magic Study and Fire Study, in that order. I LOVED those books. Storm Glass is by Maria V Snyder also, and it begins with Opal, a character from the Study series.

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments I am so excited that it is April I am reading everything at once lol.

The Becoming by Jeanne C Stein and this is great I have gotten about half way through but I am like Anna quite a bit she is spunky

Then I am also reading Possession by Jennifer Armintrout and this book and I am not sure how much I like it -- this is definitely a strange book the POV keeps shifting around and even though the story line is fluid I am not sure if it works for me

Acheron only on page ten so to soon to say

the Iron Hunt Only read the prologue so also to soon to tell.

I have so many books to read this month I am totally excited!!

Blood Ties Book Two Possession (Blood Ties) by Jennifer Armintrout The Becoming (Anna Strong, Book 1) by Jeanne C. Stein Acheron (Dark-Hunter, #22) by Sherrilyn Kenyon The Iron Hunt (Hunter Kiss, #1) by Marjorie M. Liu

Teresa (teresadamario) | 95 comments OKAY, so I ordered a new kindle. Over on my blog I'm taking suggestions t0 be the FIRST book I read on the kindle. It's not a contest, but hey, go on over and list all the books you think I might like. Yes, I can't wait! It's on the way already - but not supposed to be here till monday.

http://teresadamario.com/blog/

IT's hard deciding, cause I already have a number of print books hanging out at the house waiting to be read. LOL

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm very old fashioned, but teachable. What is the benefit of using Kindle over regular, bound books?

message 1584: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresadamario) | 95 comments The biggest benefit is when I go places and know I'll be able to read, I don't have to carry multiple books with me to fulfill my love of reading. That and the instant you think "Hey, I wish I had this book to read", you can request it and have it in 60 seconds. Those are the biggest benefits.

Carrying 5 or 6 books on a plane cause I don't know what I'll want is no fun.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Teresa wrote: "The biggest benefit is when I go places and know I'll be able to read, I don't have to carry multiple books with me to fulfill my love of reading. That and the instant you think "Hey, I wish I had..."

Very good points. I'll have to check into it. Is it cost effective, what with the initial layout for the Kindle itself?

Michelle | 79 comments I am finally reading Kresley Cole's A Hunger Like no Other... Wow! I'm pulled in and I'm only on the 2nd chapter!

message 1587: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresadamario) | 95 comments Depends on what you consider cost effective. Both the sony and kindle are outrageously priced, IMHO. But this one is a gift, so I can't argue. I've wanted one, but been trying to wait for the price to go down. Not happening. But the books are the same price. It's an investment, like a DVD player, or new tv or something. It's a "nice to have" rather than requirement in life, but still kewl to finally have one.:)

ANd Michelle, I loved Hunger like no Other! It's one of my favorite Kresley Cole books!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Michelle wrote: "I am finally reading Kresley Cole's A Hunger Like no Other... Wow! I'm pulled in and I'm only on the 2nd chapter!"

Well, and the added benefit of saving a tree or two (or a couple dozen at the rate I buy books) can be considered.

Thank you for taking the time to bring me up to speed on this. I might take a look around. Think a place like Best Buy would carry it?

And lastly, do you find the most books are available in this format?

message 1592: by Dawn (new)

Uniquely Moi...as far as I know you can get the sony ereader from lots of places but the kindle only comes from amazon

And no doubt they are proprietary, right? You can't read a Kindle formatted story on a Sony?

message 1594: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments From what I understand that is correct I think the sony format is DRM and the one for kindle is well kindle I think. I prefer the kindle because it is wirless, and it has a text to speech option

Anyway the one thing I want to know is if I can read my library ebooks on either one

message 1595: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresadamario) | 95 comments true, but the thing with kindle that most people forget, you can import all kinds of other formats. Plus, I get most of my books from Amazon or go to the store anyway. Except for specific ebooks, which can be imported, like the html or pdf formats. Not sure about the conversion fee. Last I heard it was just a few cents per book, but that could have changed.

Content Formats Supported: Kindle (AZW), TXT, Audible (formats 4, Audible Enhanced (AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; PDF, HTML, DOC, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.

message 1596: by Teresa (new)
