What are you reading right now?

I was intrigued and how did I never hear of this when I was younger...I started reading The Awakening last night, and it's sort of slow..."
I finished The Awakening over the weekend and it was - okay. I'm not sure why it is that at 250 pages, I still didn't feel any real connection to the characters. I'll read The Struggle, but I'm not sure I'll become a fan of the series.
No, Stephenie Meyer's stories may not have been wholly original, but I think she did a much better job of it. Of course, they're what pulled me back into the paranormal genre, so I may view them through rose tinted glasses. However, there are several other really strong YA series I've read and enjoyed, I'm just not convinced that The Vampire Diaries will hold a place in that list.

I haven't read D.B. Reynolds, although I'm looking forward to her new book, Raphael. She's a member of the Adrian Phoenix Yahoo group I'm in, and she's very excited about it.
As for Caitlin Kittredge, I really enjoy her Nocturne City series and am looking forward to her new series. I'm sure it will be good!

Ah n..."
Wentworth Miller as Zahdist. now that is so yummy
the other guys were right on as well. Then Jason as Rhage, wow. I want a movie now
I am just reading through all of the BDB books right now. I only have Phury's book left and have promised myself that I will not open it until I finish my research proposal for class. I did crack a bit and read the first chapter this morning, which is going to make it difficult to finish my proposal. I'm becoming pretty much completely obsessed with the books. I have the next book pre-ordered and also ordered the insider's guide. And I have seen the videos and....Mmmmm....yeah, they were good. I'm also waiting for Sookie book 8 to come in the mail, so I may have to read that while I wait for Rhev's story to come out.

I've started reading Dark Lover again last night and will go through the whole series again while I wait for Lover Avenged.

If they could give him the right scar, I could totally see it.

I did not like the dude they had for Phury. Phury and Zsadist are twins, so they should get someone who looks enough like Wentworth Miller to make it work. I'd recommend Henry Cavill. I've always thought he and Miller looked alike. Also, google Joe Manganiello. He'd be perfect for V.

Did someone suggest Gerard Butler for Wrath? He would be perfect.
That was me! I thought that Gerard Butler would be perfect for V but he could also pass as Z if he was scarred up right?

OH MY! Yes, I totally agree! I just googled him up! TOTALLY Z all the way!

I'm doing the same thing. I started Love Awakened this morning. Is it just me or does the books get even better the 2nd time around?

It's not just you...I am loving Dark Lover more this time around...savoring it, if you will :)

I think it's very funny that fully half of this board contains posts about the BDB series. Guess I'm missing out not having read them."
Well, BDB definitely does follow the traditional romance formula, however, as the series goes on, they take a decidedly more UF turn as far as the overall story arc. If you like Jeaniene Frost's books, which are UF but have a VERY strong romantic storyline, I think you'd enjoy the BDB books.

I just finished the part where he talks to her in her apartment for the first time...well, they do more than "talk" *blushing*
I find I want to skip all the Lessor crap. I didn't like them first time around and don't want to read about them again.

"
I was thinking of that scene this morning. I LOVED that! Beth is awesome, but so is Bella. Bella went through so much of Z's pain and stuck by him. She's a hero to me because I love Z so much.

Thanks DH. I like the look of the DB Reynolds book a lot. She's not available here yet but I might make the investment when distributors here start stocking her.
@Jennifer: Glad you liked the rant! I'm a bit embarassed about the vehemence now, but I felt incredibly strongly about it at the time. Which in a strange way is a good thing--that LS can make you care that much about a character. Welcome on board too. PNR is a great genre, nice quick easy fix of romance while giving you a fantasy high at the same time. I love it!

I've just finished A Hunger Like No Other. It was fabulous. The writing was sassy and funny and sparky, and the hero was all kinds of hottie. The world-building stuff was terrific: LOVED the Valkyries--I can't wait to read more about them and what they get up to. And Nix! What a gem. My two cons were: the inconsistent Scottish accent (Doona?) and Emma, who was pretty jarring till about the middle of the book.
Erm. So I've been kind of a machine today and I also finished Pleasure Unbound. Oh wow. Larissa Ione has totally shot up the charts, those incubus demon brothers are smoking hot. The HEA was wonderfully done, and the demonology was well explained. I particularly liked how well the human/demon tension was detailed, very nice. One small con was that the h/h chemistry was a little stilted at times, but apart from that, this book comes from my place of yes.
P.S: Michelle, that thread is great. You get all the credit for thinking of it. And yay for GR, soothing the rage and cheaper than a therapist!

I think, with how obsessed we all are with our different characters and worlds, they'd have a field-day with our "delusions" and inability to separate fantasy from reality.
I, for one, firmly believe that the man eyeing me on the train today was of the werewolf persuasion and I was only too happy that his hairy butt did not decide on me for his mate.
Hallelujah! What would we do without GoodReads and the folks that share our fixations!?
:)

::rofl::
He's not tracking you right now? Sniffing your bottom and growling, "Mine" in a masterful, commanding yet tender voice? Damn. No HEA for you, young lady!
And ah yeah, my husband thinks I'm nuts when I try and explain some of the premises to him. He kind of got Twilight, but went all glazed when I raved on about the BDB. I think at the end of my spiel he kind of went, "Giant warrior vanilla ice vampires? What the hell is this?"
Heresy!

Speaking of that same booty, there was no sniffing, T.G., but there was some leering and some sidling on up going on. I never rushed off a train so fast in m'life.
Now, perhaps if he'd had a vampyric quality...
But no, no sniffing of bums on the train. Can you imagine! The horror! And yet, the fascination...
ANOTHER thing for the the therapist field day!

She said that the book should be available via Amazon in the next couple of weeks (I'm not sure if this is limited to .com or if co.uk is included).

LOL, just wanted to continue our BDB obsession. I shall be listening to the audio book of LeN before then (too many challenge books to get through to actually sit down with the book).
And as my first challenge book of the month, I'm starting

Today I'm starting two books for my April challenges, Nicholas and Drawn Together. It's sure to be a sex fest for the next couple of days with these two choices but I'm not complaining! :)

I really want to know what you think of Nicholas. I've seen great reviews, but I'm just not sure of this series.

UMoi, ROTFL, My daughter is reading BDB. She's reading Lover Unbound, since I've read them already and re-reading now, I'll ask her where she is in the book. My husband give the same reaction. I've tried to tell him about BDB, but he just glazes over and nods and smiles.

They take you from frigid to frisky in under 60 seconds!

My husband too doesn't understand my reading, but he reads dry history and rambling opinions, so there's no accounting for taste. ; ) Really, my husband and I exemplify the opposites attract. He's grounded while my head floats in the clouds; he goes with gut instinct while I need logic to proceed. If I didn't love these complicated men in the stories, I would have never fallen in love with him!
I've enjoyed people's picks for actors to portray the BDB characters. Wonder if these stories would ever be main stream enough to actually have movies made... Hugh Jackman as Wrath, YUM! I love the idea of Henry Cavill as Phury and Wentworth Miller as Zsadist. Though I think someone suggested Vin Diesel in one of the videos and he's got that bad a** 'tood would really go far with the portraying Zsadist. David Boreanaz was suggested for Butch, but I'd think he'd make a better Tohrment. I also love Orlando Bloom as Rehvenge. No one's even suggested anyone for John. Anyone have any ideas?
On the comment regarding Kresley Cole, her novels are addicting. So I have another series that I have to purchase... I just can't wait for the next installment...

I was looking at my husbands dragon tattoo last night and I was telling him about Rhage and how his dragon comes to live.... I was so serious and telling him about the book! He started busting up and told me "Honey, you need to come back to reality".... You just had to be there. It was hilarious

I really enjoyed most of Kenyon's DH books but for whatever reason, there were a couple that were harder to get through.
And tell me, how can I love Dark-Hunters and not care much for Dream-Hunters. There is something about them that I'm not crazy about.
Acheron is easily one of the best books I've ever read.

I can totally picture that. The other day, my husband was dressing and I started imagining him with the tattoo from the cover of Lover Avenged. And I thought...ok, am I losing it or what? LOL

I feel you on this! I also had a hard time getting through a few of her books! I loved all the Dark Hunters but I am "so so" with the Dream Hunters.... AND YES Archeron was such a great book! First book I ever read that I cried!

And Reynolds, I think she's new? She doesn't appear to be on GR, so really, really new? Unless I'm missing something. Her debut novel is called Raphael. Anyone seen/heard anything of her they like?
