UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish The only brother I don't find HOT HOT HOT is Phury. He is, however HOT HOT.

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments The only brother I think as HOT REALLY HOT is V.

His book and Phurys book is what started my hostility towards the series and I will say no more to prevent spoilers.

Oh, the leaping. Why do they keep leaping in the woods? I didn't know lycanthropes were ballerinas.

It's a bad adaptation of the book...and really loose adaptation as well... the book was better, BUT, its really YA .... so you've been warned if you read it...

message 1456: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Why do you keep "warning" me about YA? I probably read more YA than you! Silly girl.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Speaking of YA, I'm continuing with my obsession. I'm currently reading the first book in L.J. Smith's The Vampire Diaries The Awakening and The Struggle. So far the characters are all a bit one dimensional and I'm already 200 pages in. I'm not hating it though, so I'll carry on with it and read the second one to see if it develops more. I mean, they're making a TV series out of it, it should be good.

ok...read the book then...it was good... very different from the movie, though I loved that it was filmed in Bucharest...

if you like it, I recommend her other book too, The Silver Kiss... I had read it back in hs, and then re-read it like two years ago... it's one of my favorites

Holly, I loved ALL of the IAD books so you're not alone.

Nichole wrote:Right now I'm finding any excuse to avoid reading Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I'm somewhere around page 90 and I'm soooo determined to finish it, but I'm not enjoying it

Nichole, I really enjoyed this series but there were definitely books that I like better than others. I would suggest that you read Dance with the Devil just to see if like that one better. After that, if you're still not convinced then throw in the towel. There's too many books out there that you'll love to waste time reading stuff you don't.

message 1461: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) I'm reading If You Desire and while this series is not as good as Cole's Immortals series, they are an enjoyable read if you like historical romance. She does sexual tension just about better than anyone, sometimes to the point where you want to throw the book down and say "WTF...just do it already!". The payoff is usually always worth the wait though.

message 1462: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 16 comments I was cruising Walmart today and picked up my copy of Passion Unleashed (hurry up April 1st!!!) and discovered a new author -- Jennifer Lyons. The book is Blood Magic. So far so good. Here's the synopsis:

In the days when powerful witches used their magic to shield humanity from demons, their allies and guardians were a group of men gifted with preternatural abilities of their own–the witch guardians. But when a band of witches traded their humanity for demonic power, the ancient bond was broken, and the guardians became the hunters.

Darcy MacAlister knows nothing of demons or magic. But this beautiful young woman is about to discover the truth about her past . . . and her future. For she is a witch–not just any witch, but the key to breaking the curse that has plagued witches and the men who hunt them. For if a hunter kills an innocent witch by mistake, the price is no less than a piece of his soul.

Axel Locke, gorgeous leader of the Wing Slayer Hunters, has sworn never to shed the blood of the earth witches who have resisted the temptation of demonic power. But when his sister is cursed by a demon witch, he discovers that Darcy MacAlister may hold the cure–if she can master her newfound powers in time. When the chase begins and Axel and Darcy come face-to-face, this hunter must weigh his soul against his honor–and against his heart.

Looks like this is a series. There's a sneak peek for the next novel -- Soul Magic.

DarkHeart,
I was intrigued and how did I never hear of this when I was younger...I started reading The Awakening last night, and it's sort of slow...of course I'm only about a quarter through...my main problem at the moment is that I'm feeling a bit hurt about Twilight....I feel like Stephenie Meyer was not so original after all with her take on vampires...I'm going to keep reading this though and see it if gets any better.

Holly,

I struggled through the first one today, and at the end it got better...I'm on the 2nd book now. As I was reading it today though, it just kept thinking of how it was a sort of watered down version of Twilight, but written 10 years before... now I can see its going in a different direction, and I'm feeling a little, no, make that a lot relieved about it... Twilight did have a lot more character development, but I like Elena a bit more than Bella, who I only finally really loved as a character in Breaking Dawn.... besides...its got to be good if its getting turned into a tv series...right?

Ah now that's interesting. JR Ward has said she's imagined Wentworth Miller (the guy in the video) as Zsadist but I guess every reader has a different mental image of what he looks like. I do remember some other choices for Z in her forums, but none of them looked mean enough. I confess I've always imagined him kind of lean and scarred and Miller is a lot prettier than what was in my mind, but he does have a gleam in his eye that looks like it could turn nasty if provoked enough. ;)

Did someone suggest Gerard Butler for Wrath? He would be perfect.

Is Vampire Diaries the one with the really pretty girl? And uhh....a raven? Was there a raven in there towards the beginning? I think I did try it, and gave up reasonably early. Dunno why, I usually love YA vampire (is it even vampire? I can't remember) books.

@Uniquely moi: Someone in another forum said that Jessica Andersen and J R Ward are critiquing partners. The premise of the book sounds pretty good right? Mayan warriors trying to deal with the upcoming apocalypse. I've got Nightkeepers coming in the mail any day now.

Yes, you're correct about the book being about the Mayan calendar. I've always been interested in that subject anyway, and it just so happens that my daughter is going to turn 21 on 21 Dec 2012 (the day, according to the Mayan's that the world is supposed to end). I am looking forward to reading it, but first I am going to reread BDB so I'm all prepped for Lover Avenged. :)
