calicheri | 39 comments I just finished Dark Desires After Dusk by Kresley Cole and loved it.

message 104: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I just started reading The Cursed One by Ronda Thompson.

message 105: by Celeste (new)

Celeste | 12 comments SOOOOOOOOOOOO... I found this new author that I've never heard of before and I LOVE her! Her name is Larissa Ione. I'm in the middle of one of her books right now called Pleasure Unbound. Has anyone else ever read her? Where have I been if so!? Def. recommend to all my fellow paranormal romance lovers!

message 106: by Susanne (new)

Susanne | 17 comments I'm reading Tithe by Holly Black. I just started reading Lover Enshrined. I have to have more than one book going at a time!

I'm gonna check out Larissa Ione - thanks for the tip Celeste!

message 107: by Christal (new)

Christal | 83 comments I just started Undead and Uneasy by MJD.

message 108: by Natale (new)

Natale (natalestenzel) | 32 comments I'm fresh off a deadline and picked up no fewer than five books and put them back down again -- couldn't read, typical of me post-deadline -- but managed to sink at last into Nora's latest. The Hollow. So far it's decent and I enjoyed the first one (Blood Brothers). I think the last book in the series will be the best though. She's saving her risk-taker couple for that one.

Feels so good to be reading again.

Natale

message 109: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments I am still working on The Host by Stephenie Meyer. It's too heavy to lug around with me, so it's taking longer than usual... I am also nearly finished with Lover Enshrined. It's engrossing like her books usually are, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have issues with it when all is said and done.

message 110: by Jessie (new)

Jessie | 128 comments Almost done with Kim Harrision's "For a Few Demons More". Then not sure what I will start. I am thinking of either "Halfway To The Grave" or "Moon Called"

I keep picking up Holly Black's "Ironside" but can't make myself concentrate on it. It's probably because I've got a stack of about ten graphic novels staring me down. I'm taking a class on multi-cultural graphic novels in July and I'm trying to get a head start on the reading... but I'd really rather read fun paranormal stuff!

message 112: by Amie (new)

Amie (amiestuart) | 44 comments WOOT CELESTE! Larissa is one of my favorite people--a real sweetheart as well as a heck of a writer. She also does the ACRO series with Stephanie Tyler (under Sydney Croft)--also paranormal. You can check it out here: http://www.sydneycroft.com/

message 113: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Sizemore (sandy_lee) | 6 comments Hi. I just started reading Dark Fever by Karen Marie Monig.. This book is great so far, I had a hard time putting it down last night.

message 114: by Gbina (new)

Gbina | 16 comments Grimspace by Ann Aguirre. So far I am liking it very much. I am not sure I would say it is PNR...maybe more SciFi Romance, but sometimes it is hard to decide where it fits. Either way it is different from most books I've read because it is written in first person present tense. Kind of weird in the beginning, but I am getting use to it and it works.

message 115: by calicheri (new)

calicheri | 39 comments I just finished Running Wild by Sarah McCarty. It's an anthology with 3 stories about werewolves who end up with 3 sisters. I liked the book and I think there will be more in the series.

message 116: by Jacqui (new)

Jacqui Boswell (nyllahs) | 2 comments Hey Sandy,

I absolutely love the fever series by Karen Marie Moning. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

I am reading 'Out of the Shadows' by Kay Hooper.

message 117: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I'm reading about Queen Betsy in Undead and Unworthy right now. Kind of pissed though because I didn't read Dead Over Heels and I totally missed a huge part of this ongoing story! Of course the author fills you in, but I'm sure now I missed out on a great story and knowing how it ends, it won't be the same if I decide to go back and read it. So - read Dead Over Heels and then Undead and Unworthy if you like this series!

I'm dying to read some PNR, but my class starts on Monday, and I want to have read all of the required books before class starts. The joy of a summer semester class? Professors cram in four months' worth of reading into one. Eep!

I've been reading some amazing graphic novels, though. Check the recent stuff on my Read shelf if you're interested.

message 119: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments I just finished Lover Enshrined, and am most of the way through Playing Easy to Get, which is an anthology by three different authors. The second story, Hunter's Oath by Jaid Black was okay, but both the characters and the plot were underdeveloped. I know its a short story, but come on!! Build a little! The Sherrilyn Kenyon story, Turn up the Heat, sucked quite frankly. I think that I really just don't like her writing style. It's stilted and juvenile. The Kresley Cole story, The Warlord Wants Forever, is by far the class of the book.

message 120: by traceyellen (new)

traceyellen | 27 comments Just finished both Halfway to the Grave and One Foot in the Grave---LOVED them both. Currently reading The Darkest Pleasure and am totally in love with that series so far. Gonna suck waiting till 2009 for the next to come out!!!!!

message 121: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) I just finished Blood Ties: Book One - The Turning by Jennifer Armnitrout. I thought it was inventive and a pretty good read. I'll be getting Book 2 soon enough.

message 122: by Cassandra (last edited Jul 03, 2008 07:07PM) (new)

Cassandra | 49 comments I just got Marked by Moonlight by Sharie Kohler. Since there's no Kresley Cole coming out for a while, I looked for a book that she gave a good comment on. She seemed to like this one, so I'm hoping it'll be similar to her work.

message 123: by Jess (new)

Jess (jessartisan) | 26 comments I just started book 4 of Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series (Industrial Magic).

message 124: by Jill (new)

Jill | 24 comments I'm reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Seize the Night with 2 of Christine Feehan's Ghost Walker series next.

message 125: by Lord' (new)

Lord' Williams (lordwilliams) | 2 comments I'm still reading She ain't the One, by Carl Webber.....I haven't read a single word in over a month. I think I should sit down and finish it tonight.

message 126: by Jan (last edited Jul 05, 2008 10:43PM) (new)

Jan (jan1228) Just started Wild Wild West by Charlene Teglia. Finished the first of three stories. #1 Gabe and Willow - It was OK, but I'm really not into bondage. So meh, I'm giving it a 2.8 out of 5. Still need to read Chet and Reuben's stories.

According to the info in the back of the book she lives here in Washington state on the western side up near Seattle. I live on the eastern side.

message 127: by LilMisGrayBrisk (last edited Jul 06, 2008 06:11AM) (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I finished Thunder Moon by Lori Handeland yesterday and with the way it ended, I wonder if there is going to be any more night creature novels written. I did enjoy it, but not as much as some of her others.

message 128: by Amie (new)

Amie (amiestuart) | 44 comments SAndy I love the Fever series! I'm really looking forward to the last book soon!

message 129: by Martina the Book Fairy (last edited Jul 06, 2008 01:41PM) (new)

Martina the Book Fairy (book_fairy) | 442 comments Hey Ja'niece,

Is Wild Wild West a paranormal romance? I'm always looking for new PNRs - especially ones written by local Seattlites, but by the description up on Amazon.com, that one just sounds like a regular contemporary romance.

message 130: by calicheri (new)

calicheri | 39 comments Just finished Twilight Fall by Lynn Viehl, the latest in the Darkyn series. It was very good as usual. I'm sad to hear that the next book will be the last in the series.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) Cheri- Say it ain't so! Lynn is ending the series with the next book! That saddens me as well I really love the series.

message 132: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) I am trying to read Bloody Bones by Laurell K. Hamilton and X-Rated Bloodsuckers by Mario Avecedo but for some reason, i can't get into either. I'm surprised about Bloody Bones but then again I didn't much enjoy The Lunatic Cafe. Maybe it's just time to put it down.

I'm having a hard time getting into books right about now.

message 133: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments I have read that on Viehl's website as well. Twilight Fall is the second to last, with Stay the Night coming out early next year and ending the Darkyn series. I was upset too because I love this series. She said she wanted to end it before it gets stale.

Martina the Book Fairy (book_fairy) | 442 comments Last night I started reading The Last Twilight, the seventh book in the Dirk & Steele series by Marjorie M. Liu.

If you like a healthy amount of mystery, detective work, and world travel with your paranormal romances then this series is definitely for you! Dirk & Steele is a well respected detective agency with secret agents that aren't quite human.

Every time I read a D&S novel, I can't help drawing similarities to the Bond movies. There's the world traveling on a near-luxury budget, the secret agency, good looking agents, and world-saving missions. It's just that in the D&S books, the good looking agents and the world-saving missions both usually have ties to the paranormal.

message 135: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan1228) Waves to Martina

Yeah, Wild,Wild,West is known as a Romantica = Romance/Erotic it was a book recommendation from Laura Stamps.

For some reason, I've never read any of the Dirk & Steel books, just a couple of Marjorie's stand-alone novels. I like her books, and she's also a very nice, intelligent person. :) I met her on LiveJournal before I realized who she was, then read one of her books and thought... wait a minute... :D

message 137: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I just started the Dirk & Steele series and have now read two of them. I liked the second one even more than the first and I've got all the rest from the library waiting to be read. I like her writing and I like the spy vs. spy with the paranormal theme. Pretty cool stuff!

message 138: by Freda (new)

Freda (arkie_fallenangel) | 9 comments Just finished the third installment of Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld. While I'm really liking the series, the LOTU who is stuck with the demon of lies, so therefore can never speak the truth, is getting on my nerves. (I think the LOTU's name is Gideon, but not completely sure.)

message 139: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Sizemore (sandy_lee) | 6 comments Ive only read the 1st in the lord of the underworld series so far and I can see how Gideon can be annoying..I think I dig Ryese though the image I have in my head of him is good lol...

message 140: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Sizemore (sandy_lee) | 6 comments I just fisnished reading Wild and Hexy by, Vickie Lewis Thompson. This is a funny story. Matchmaking witches, lake monsters, ADD dragons, a nerd and a news reporter. Where can you go wrong in a story like that.. lol

I also just started Angeligue's descent. by, Lara Parker. This is a book about the old soap opera Dark Shadows. Its pretty good so far. It is also written by the lady who played Angelique on the show.

message 141: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir I just finished Lynn Viehl's latest Twilight Fall and it was a good installment in her Darkyn series. It explains some things I had questions about from some of her earlier books. I also read on her blog that she only plans one more book in the series. I am bummed, but completely respect her decision because I agree with her comments about how some publishers/writers don't know when to let go will sometimes allow a series to continue past it's sell-by date (not her words, but my own). Janet Evanovich is a good example of this , imo, as her recent Stephanie Plum books have been awful.

I am now in re-read of Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. I inhaled these books back-to-back several months ago, so I am now re-reading them and enjoying them just as much the second time.

message 142: by Erica (new)

Erica Poole | 21 comments I love the Dirk & Steele novels! I am so glad someone mentioned them. My only disappointment is that I had no idea they were a series so I read them all out of order and was jumping around like crazy trying to get it all straight! Such good fun though.

message 143: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 38 comments LOL A lot of books on Virginia myths, folklore and legends for research for my nonfiction book on Virginia legends, myths and folklore. I have this manuscript due to Schiffer Publishing by October 2008, so have to read this. Okay, I love reading this stuff, now it's for work.
I do have some books I have read for pleasure though. Next one will be Dragon Wytch.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) Freda- I love Gideon. i find myself laughing out loud whenever I read something he says. I would love to see a book for him. I think it'll be interesting to see how Showalter writes that one.

message 145: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I tried reading Parallel Attraction by Deidre Knight and I just couldn't get into it. I'm not reading a PNR at the moment.

message 146: by Jessie (new)

Jessie | 128 comments Just started Over the Moon. An anthology recommended by someone from the group. Only about 30 pages into the first story Moon Dance right now. So far it has my attention so that is a good sign!

Hoping I can hold out for the newest Rachel Morgan and Sookie Stackhouse books to come out in MMP. I have a few books to try out in hopes to tide me over though I can't wait to see what happens in those.

:)

message 147: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments I'm currently reading The Captain of All Pleasures by Kresley Cole. I'm such a huge fan of her Immortals After Dark PNR series, that I decided to read the rest of her stuff, which is apparently historical romance. I have not been disappointed so far. I'm about 300 pages into the book. Her writings is great, the plot is excellent and moves along nicely, the characters are well-developed and believable, and the romance is sizzling. She also just threw a plot twist at me that I did NOT see coming. So far, so good! She is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite authors.

message 148: by traceyellen (new)

traceyellen | 27 comments Freda--So with you on the demon of lies getting annoying--not sure why, but it drives me crazy!

message 149: by Natale (new)

Natale (natalestenzel) | 32 comments Right now, I have a couple of Angela Knight's books I'm catching up on -- Knight of Swords . . . and one after that? I also found a non-PNR MaryJanice Davidson that's been trying to topple of TBR mountain. I finished Predatory Games (Feehan) and The Hollow (Nora) and enjoyed both.

I keep seeing Kresley Cole's name come up and I've never read her books. I love, love PNR, but I'm an explicit violence wimp. How gritty are these? Man, but it would be great to find a new author to follow, though. Maybe I should just get the first book and check it out myself.

message 150: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Which MJD non-PNR is it? I've read all her stuff and have yet to find someone else who has!
