Denise, I'm feeling the same way. I read the first one and didn't really care for the ending, and wasn't terribly fond of Georgina. But so many people here have said such great things about the series that I may try out book 2.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 407 comments Jennifer, I'm with you. Can't wait for Succubus Revealed and all to be resolved. I've got a few theories as to how Georgie is going to get out of her contract, so we'll see. I am going to do a re-read in August so I'm all ready for the resolution. I think its Richelle Mead's best series, although the last Dark Swan was pretty interesting too.

Did you guys catch the bit about the color dress Georgina was wearing when Seth first saw her???? Big clue as to what happened long ago IMO!

I think it is in the last book, when he comments that he remembers when he first saw her she was wearing off-white. She says not, that she remembers wearing purple or something. But, look back at what she is described as wearing when she first meets her hubby-to-be??????? Do we have a thread by chance to discuss this series and theories as to who Seth really is? Maybe we should, before the last book comes out. That is one of the things I love about this series, the storyline seems somewhat simplistic at first but there seems to be an underlying plot that is going to give one of those "oh my goodness" moments eventually. LOL

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 3071 comments I'm home from 3 wks in Chicago. I miss all the comfort of home, like my bed, my gym, my reading time and my internet. Stayed at my parents and lots of quality time with family and friends messed up my daily FL routines, JK. Loved it but need to get back to reality, my books and "me time".

Anywho, I'm reading Succubus Dreams (Georgina Kincaid Series #3) by Richelle Mead and how I wish I'm as enthralled and engrossed in this series as you all are. I love books and love new authors but I found she's "mild" in term of plots and characterization as opposed to Karen Moning, J.Frost, M.Brook, N.Singh, JR Ward, D.Gabaldon or even YA authors like C.Clare or S.Collins. Maybe something's wrong with me...

I'm going through the series right now and just finished Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead . I'm glad it just gets better and better. I'll try to pay attention to the little things. That's what I had to do with the Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon series too, pay attention to all these characters and events that figure out later to have a huge importance.

I just started the first Lords of the Underworld book. Don't know a thing about greek mythology so if there's a lot, I guess I'll just have to keep reading! I've heard so many raves about this series. I hope they're right. I think there is 8 books out now or the 8th one is coming out later this year? Not sure I just checked and I think theres a 9th one coming out next year? I was trying to decide to read this series, or the Nightwalker series which I've heard is really good too.

I am one of the ladies that love the Succubus series but we all have our favourites. that's the great thing about sharing and discussing our opinions, likes and dislikes. I really love all those other authors you mentioned. Sometimes I really like a break from the intense writing styles of someone like Meljean Brook which i find you have to pay close attention or you miss something.

Now I am trying to decide if I should go on or put this series down and go for Night Huntress or Anita Blake or something instead. The last thing I read before this series was the Fever series which, though frustrating, was excellent reading Should I stick it out?

I only read the first book and was not impressed and stopped. I liked the Night Huntress series better it is definitely a must read. I loved the Anita Blake books like crazy up until books 8. I'll give you the same warning I got that the books are good but around book 10 things change. Some enjoy all of them but I decided to stop when I could not get through book 8. I would still recommend them cause the first 7 were amazing for me and you might enjoy all 20 of them.

I always read at least the second book in any series because the first book is usually my least favorite. The author uses it to set the stage for the series and sometimes it lacks action or the characters are not fully developed. I read the Cal & Nik Leandros series and I really did NOT like Cal for the first 2 books. He was whiny and lazy and a bratty baby brother. But he grew throughout the series and by the end I was really into it.

The only series I could not get through this year was Marjorie M. Liu's Hunter Kiss series.

I am also in love with the series. It gets a lot of flack for being similar to BDB but to me it is so different because of the characters. I know some of the things are the same but I look at the characters and the plots and it can definitely stand on its own. I cannot wait until Chase's story.

I read the Midnight Breed before the BDB and I agree the characters are different. I like them both a lot but I think the plot is a little stronger in Midnight Breed. And the bad guys are meaner. If there's one complaint I have with BDB is that a bunch of baby powder smelling lessers aren't really going to give the Brothers much of a fight. Sure, Lasher was a GREAT bad guy but overall, BDB is more about the relationships than it is about the fighting. You can't beat the BDB relationships, that's for sure!

All true, but to me the thing that makes Midnight Breed really stand out is that Adrian gives her women characters much, much more to do than Ward does. In BDB, we hardly ever see the Shellans after their story is over, but the Breedmates have become a force in their own right. SO much more interesting!

Yes - I would agree with that statement. Plus, the fact that Breedmates have special abilities makes them more interesting as well. And they go on their own daytime missions. Maybe that's why I like the Brothers better than the Breed Warriors, because Ward does focus more on them, possibly at the detriment of her storyline and female characters.

If you didn't know, there's a short story that comes before the Iron Duke. It's in the Burning Up Anthology and is called "Here there be Monsters". This short story is the reason I read the Iron Duke. It was very good.

Yes, you should continue. This is one of my favorite series. The book you are reading was not one of the better book in the series. Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 3071 comments OMG, Pansy, no wonder we're so in sync, NH and BDB are neck-in-neck my top 2, maybe tie for 1st. Then I have a couple tied at 2nd like Guild Hunter, Midnight Breed, Night Hunter, LOTU...and it goes on and on.

Honestly, I must admit, it was the Twilight movie that got me to read the book bc I just have to get more Edward. Once read...I voted for re-make & re-cast, re-do, etc. I was a bit annoyed bc these actors can't really act (not like the TrueBlood kids), that said, history has been written and these kids were lucky to be apart of the phenom. And since I'm confessing, I haven't read any series back-to-back 4 times like I did with Twilight Saga. I was a PNR virgin and never looked back.

The first book was a good intro book. I gave it a high 3 stars because it's a lot of background and relationships are just starting to develop. And of course I was not happy with her decision at the end of book #1, but each book is better than the last. I like all of the characters and plan to read Mencheres' book when I get to it chronologically. Book #3 so far has given the most insight into Mencheres. I can't wait to read Spade's book either. I've read the shorts as well (2 so far). I expect the books to get more and more interesting. I'll read the next 2 this weekend.
