Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments Michelle M LOL @ "down with the metrosexual"

Can you imagine if you really did meet a man like one of the hunters or the BDB? I so cannot see it LOL ...how sad

message 1153: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Girl, I CAN see it. Problem is, that I can imagine it so well, I'm ruined for the silly creatures that inhabit day to day life.

If a leather-clad, hard ass (in more ways than one), decisive man came along, damn skippy I'd jump him. Maybe I should start frequenting some biker bars...

message 1154: by Liz (new)

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments Leather-clad, hard ass, Yummy! Love all BDB and Dark hunter. Dream about them.
Just started Dark Thirst by Sara Reinke. Just finished Desire Unchained by Larissa Ione. Loved It!

Stav (voliotisa) | 291 comments when we going?

message 1156: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Count me in on the trip to the biker bar!

Finished Soul Mates Bound by Blood. OHG that was a smokin hot book. Started In the Blood, the follow up book to Rush of Wings, which I loved.

message 1157: by Josephine (new)

Josephine (tyrrel) | 43 comments I too loved Desire Unchained!

Luckily for me, it just needs to be sunny and chilly and my husband has his leather jacket and chaps to ride his motercycle! The stuff my dreams are made of! ; )

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments I am down for the biker bar LOL

kudos to Josephine!

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments Well for me I work in research so most men I meet want to talk to me about statistics and poverty and while I feel great at the end of the day .... the men are well really smart LOL and I will leave it at that

message 1162: by Liz (new)

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments Leather jacket and nice tight fitting jeans MMMM- delicious. I also have one of my own and it is getting warmer outside so that means more motorcycle riding. Is anyone else getting a little hot under the collar?

Yummy is right. I had wicked dreams after Lover Eternal, and then I read Lover awakened and phwoaaarrrr. What chance do nice, ordinary husbands have against Zsadist?

Just finished Bitten to Death and hmm. I dunno.

message 1164: by Liz (new)

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments Luckily I found my husband before I found the BDB or else all would be lost.

message 1165: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Like I said! I'm ruined!

message 1166: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Who am I kidding with 28(!) books checked out of the library, I leave myself no time for the man-hunt.

Just finished Urban Shaman. Others have complained that CE Murphy muddled her myths, but I thought it was really good-mainly because the main character and her sidekick are just so damned likable.
I'm reading Shadowbridge by Gregory Frost now and having a hard time getting into it.

Especially because I picked up Gil's All Fright Diner from the library last night and it's yowling at me. It just seems like it's going to be so funny. I shall be crushed if it doesn't live up to expectations! I haven't read Martinez before-has anyone else?

Finished An Enchanted Season. I think the best novella is the one by Nalini Singh. Second would be the one by Maggie Shayne. The other two are just okay.

Also finished Linnea Sinclair's Gabriel's Ghost. It was a great read. It took me a while to finish it because my eyes can't really stand reading in front of the computer for a long time, but I'm so in love with "Sully." This is actually one of the rare occurrence when I actually wish I'm the heroine, and I have a "Sullivan" in my life. He is just one intriguing hero. I highly recommend the book.

I'm also on my last disc with Club Dead by Charlaine Harris, book 3 in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I'm starting to not like Bill at all. Eric, on the other hand, is starting to sound yummy.

message 1168: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Eric is my big blonde Viking and I adore him.

Hmn. And I think even HE wears leather pants.

Wow. I have a one track mind.

Yes, Eric is definitely my choice of Sookie's men. Despite the fact that blonde never does much of anything for me. He's so cocky, but I feel like, hey, he's got enough reason to be. And no matter how arrogant and suave he might be, he's always there for Sookie in a pinch, whether it's winter-wear or certain death!

message 1169: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Eric...

::dreamy sigh::

message 1170: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments I love Club Dead especially the part where he is in Sookie's bed and she is like what are you doing and he says "snuggling" LOL

I still think I'd win him.

message 1175: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments Stav...Mine just came in at the library and I am so excited Zarek was kind of tormented and I wanted to know if they tried to kill him on the helicopter at the end of Night Embrace. Plus I want him to have a HEA. Anyway we should compare notes when I am done :>

you're going to love it....and yes, lets compare notes when you are done.

What do you think of the Gargoyle book? I tried to reserve it b&n by my job yesterday, but they were out of stock.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Ah, I love spreading the PNR, Dark Hunter addiction.

Hey! Why don't all the Dark Hunter fans see how many people they can convert! Challenge issued!

message 1180: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments I think The Gargoyle is a fantastic book. I am close to the end and I am kind of sad about it. This is one of the most compelling, intense, enthralling, and captivating books I have read in a longtime if ever. It is hard for me to explain the book but it is a love story between the two people I think the writer calls them misanthrope and the manic depressive/ schizophrenic artist. Anyway we are following this man who has been terribly burned and this women who has been alive for 700 years. In between Andrew Davidson writes these beautiful short stories which stories weave in and out of the main one. The short stories are about people sacrificing everything they have for love - which may or may not include their own life, they create and then are consumed or watch their gifts be destroyed, anyway it is amazing because these mini stories form these tentative connections to the main story.

I just love it!

I haven't preordered the book but I saw on Amazon.com that you can preorder for $10.00 which is good for a hard back. I didn't initially like the first book and I read the 2nd because I had it and felt like I had to read it but then I found myself getting all of them and now I can't wait to read the next one.

message 1182: by Sue (new)

Sue | 43 comments I am reading High Stakes by Erin McCarthy and it's a hoot! Also reading Home to Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani, I read her other books a few years back before getting into paranormal stuff and really liked her, so I thought I'd give it another try

LOL, yeah, I completely understand. Zoey put me off initially, but I enjoyed the story and looked forward to seeing what new mess she got herself in. While they don't rate up there with Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy and Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires, they're still entertaining books.

Finished Club Dead by Charlaine Harris last night. Sookie's relationship with Bill is definitely on a decline, and Eric is looming quite large in the vicinity. I enjoyed listening to it, although I got rather tied of Sookie getting beaten up so many times in this book. Have the third book for a March Challenge, so I will be continuing with this series.

In the meantime, I started The Pagan Stone by Nora Roberts. I have to know how this trilogy ends.

Will be picking up Dark Seduction by Brenda Joyce again. Not entirely sure yet how I feel about this book and I'm almost halfway done.

message 1185: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Yz, Sookie always getting the beat down is unfortunately something that continues throughout and is noted by a lot of people as irritating. But, I rationalize it by the fact that she is a mere little mortal spending time with all the big and bads. The fact that she throws herself into the fray and still survives is both a testament to her stupidity and her courage!

Eric's role becomes much more central as the series rolls along and Sookie gets entrenched in vamp politics. He's a much more likable and realized character than Bill and I'm thrilled that he's increasingly at the forefront.

Hope you like the next one!

Also, I was thinking of checking out that Nora Roberts trilogy. I'll have to snoop around for it next time I'm at the library!

message 1186: by Lori (last edited Mar 08, 2009 07:24PM) (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Finished In the Blood and wow, another great book by this author. Dante is quickly becoming one of my most favorite tortured heroes, and I do mean tortured. His childhood was as bad, if not worse, then Acheron's and Zadist's.

Started Pleasure Unboundlast night. Only in a couple of chapters but if this book lives up to it's hype here in Goodreads, it's going to be an awesome read. How can you resist a sexy incubus demon...I mean c'mon!

message 1187: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments I loved Pleasure Unbound !

message 1188: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments I am just starting L.A. Banks vamp series with Minion. I'm also reading J.D. Robb's new book. I just finished the Dresden Files book 3 and I really am happy about finding a new series.

message 1189: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Yz - I couldn't even finish Dead Until Dark because I found Bill so nauseating... I really got the sense he never wanted anything more than to get into Sookie's pants.

Lori - I'm glad you liked In The Blood! I'm trying to figure out how I am possibly going to survive until next January for the third book! Probably by reading the first two a couple more times...

I bought Minion last week, but have yet to read it. let me know how you like it

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Lori wrote: "Finished In the Blood and wow, another great book by this aut..."

I agree! Adrian's books quickly became favorites of mine. Not only is Dante a wonderfully developed character, but so are Heather, Lucien and Von - and she leaves you desperate to know more about all of them and frustrated that you have to wait until next year for the next book!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Ooh, I have Minion sitting on my shelf as well and keep meaning to read it, so I'll also be interested to hear what you think of it.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments I finished Second Skin last night, and quite enjoyed it. Luna drives me nuts some times as she's so self destructive. I look forward to Witch Craft in the autumn though.

Now, I'm determined to go back and finish off When Darkness Comes as I started it last month and really haven't given it the chance it deserves, having repeatedly putting it aside for Morganville Vampire and House of Night books.

message 1194: by Stav (new)

Stav (voliotisa) | 291 comments so although I told myself I'd take a small break, I started reading the next DH, Kiss the Night...Michelle was right....after Zarek, you don't want any less...

I'm debating whether to just put Sergei Lukyanenko's "the Last Watch" down and continue just with the DH for the time being...although not PNR, and just regular old paranormal/fantasy, its still pretty good...lets see if I can handle 2 books at once.

message 1195: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments I have really been getting in to the DH series I Just finished Nigh Embrace and I have the next one with Zarek. I felt so bad for him in the Night Embrace.

message 1196: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey I'm working on Kim Harrison's White Witch, Black Curse and I haven't been in the mood for real novels this weekend, so I'm only 100 pages into it. It's good, I just was consumed by an urge to read graphic novels all weekend. So I read six and then settled down and started Harrison's latest edition.

message 1197: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments Speaking of graphic novels did I hear correctly that the dark hunter series is going to have its own graphic novel?
How interesting is that?

message 1198: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey Ooooo! I haven't read the Anita Blake ones yet, but have been meaning to. I like that they did one for Jim Butcher's series.

yes....its going to be a manga version of it...They've got a sneak peak of it on yearofacheron.com

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments They were really pushing the Dark Hunter manga at NY comic con. Kenyon had her own booth. They gave everyone samples of the first Manga which is Kyrian's story, but I just can't reconcile manga with my mental vision of the characters. Everyone comes out too "pretty."

I think the first is out in April??
