Jessie | 128 comments I recently finished At Graves End as well. I absolutely LOVED it. The non stop action kept me turning pages and I never got that "let's get on with it already" feeling I sometimes get.

Finally started The Outlaw Demon Wails yesterday. I forgot how much I love Jenks and Rachel...Can't wait to finish!! :)

message 952: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) I've heard so much about Bones, I can't wait to read these books. Halfway to the Grave is one of my challenge books this month and I'm really looking forward to it.

message 953: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) I'll second the Nalini Singh recommendation. I've only read the first one but really enjoyed it. Another series that I'm reading that is pretty good is the Monere: Children of the Moon Series by Sunny. I like the second book a little better than the first. You can tell she was heavily influenced by Laural K. Hamilton.

message 954: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments I have just finished Sherrilyn Kenyon's newest book Dream Warrior. Excellent book!! and now I am moving on to Tanya Huff's Blood Price.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Right, I've been doing my challenge reading this month so I've finished Vampire Academy (enjoyed it so much, I'm cheating on the challenge and starting the second one this weekend), Pleasure Unbound (really good - i've pre-ordered the next book in the series) and The Becoming (solid start to what promises to be a good series - will have to order the rest). Now I'm going to start Vulnerable The First Book of the Little Goddess Series which looks intriguing.

new_user | 1389 comments The next books are even better, Lori! :)

Jessa Moore (jessa_moore) | 6 comments I'm only on Every Which Way But Dead of the Rachel Morgan series. I bought all the rest of the series the other day. I love Jenks and his family! :) TINK'S PANTIES!! (ok if you haven't read the book, you're probably just confused lol). I can't wait for White Witch, Black Curse!! :)

Jessie | 128 comments XJessa~Bo~BessaX,
I even have people at work saying "Crap on Toast" They have no idea!!! LOL

Jessa Moore (jessa_moore) | 6 comments That is too funny! His curses just crack me up! :D

message 960: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Jenks is pretty great. I should start saying "Tink's a Disney whore" and see how people react...

message 961: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) LOL Nichole! I also love Jenks curses...so funny.

message 962: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Just finished A Rush of Wings and am starting If You Dare. I've read all of the Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark books so I'm anxious to see how I like this series in comparison.

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I'm currently reading Mortal Sins by Eileen Wilks.

message 964: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Lori- Is that the first McCarrick brothers book? You'll have to let us know how that is, I'm also curious.

I just read all of Heaven Sent: Heaven and Purgatory tonight. I meant to just read the first one, but couldn't help myself. :) A good quick read, but I really liked it. Two really sweet love stories about attaining the one that's unattainable.

Stephanie (stephanie_julian) | 108 comments Mitabird wrote: "I'm currently reading [Book: Mortal Sins|3430269] by Eileen Wilks."

I really enjoyed Wilks' series. I'm about to start the new one. I really like Rule. Alpha male. Yum.

message 966: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Nichole - Yes, it's the first in the series. So far it's your typical historical romance but I'm ejoying it.

Didn't you love the Heaven Sent boys? That is one of my favorite books. Are you going to read the next book about the other two band members? I've read all the holiday short stories and Genisis as well. I can't get enough of those yummy boys.

message 967: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Nichole, new to Jet Myles? The Heaven Sent series is wonderful!

Barbara, you may also wish to read the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Very well written but she has a unique twist on vampires, and shifters are secondary characters (so far). Highly recommended.

XJessa, Hi homie, I graduated from Connell High School and much prefer your weather to where I am now (coast).

Atwater-Rhodes, I'll agree with those who think the series went downhill. Great world-building and plots, but alot of bad stuff keeps happening and the HEA is very minimal. Kinda dark and depressing after a few books. Wish she would co-author with someone to offset her less appealing writing traits!

Jess | 173 comments Lori wrote: "Just finished A Rush of Wings and am starting [b:If You Da..."

I really enjoyed the Maccarrick series by Cole. I don't think you will be disappointed. Although it's more historical than PNR. I love Cole's writing.

I think I might be starting Jacquelyn Franks Ecstasy next, I just finished Jenna Black's first Watcher book. Which was pretty good.

Good, I can't wait to read this. I'm right in the middle of Aiden's Charity by Lora Leigh right now. Mortal Sins is next.

Yeah, I was totally hooked and couldn't put the damn book down! I have all these books to read for the Feb challenges and that wasn't one of them, but I couldn't help myself and will most definitely be reading the next book and whatever else she's written for that series.

Denni - Yeah, that was my first time reading Jet Mykles. Obviously I really liked Heaven and Purgatory and want to read everything else Heaven Sent, but I'm not sure if I'll read any of her other stuff. There's something about the Dark Elves thing that doesn't call out to me, but at the same time I'm really curious...

message 972: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I'm just getting ready to start Let The Right One In...its a vampire book...sounds super good!!

message 973: by [deleted user] (new)

Nichole, Dark Elves is my least favorite of Jet's books, haven't read all of them and don't know that I will. IMO Heaven Sent is her best work so far, but Unleashed is also good.

message 974: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Starting One Silent Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon today. Followed very closely by Amanda Ashley's Night's Pleasure.

message 975: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Stephanie wrote: "I'm just getting ready to start Let The Right One In...its a vampire book...sounds super good!!"

There is a movie based on this book being released on dvd very soon.

message 976: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Denni, that does sound good! Maybe I'll try that one next. But I have to finish the Heaven Sent books first and I'm trying to be a bit more conservative with my spending this month because I had to replace my iPod... Too bad the money isn't bottomless, eh?

message 977: by Sue (new)

Sue | 43 comments I just started Chosen by PC&Kristin Cast. I am giving the rest of the books a chance. I just finished reading Confessions of a Shopaholic before going to see the movie next weekend.

message 978: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Finished If You Dare last night and started Dark Desire.

I enjoyed If You Dare and will read the rest of the series. It reminded me of the historical romances I read as a teenager. Kresley Cole has a real flair for writing hot love scenes without all the flowery, cheesy dialogue. She does sexual tension just about better than anyone.

message 979: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments I just finished Jayne Ann Krentz's Running Hot it was a fun read and getting more like her Jayne Castle books. The next book I'm going to read is Men of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong.

That's one that I'm reading too. It's not too bad. Different twist on vampirism, that's for sure.

message 981: by Jessa (new)

Jessa Moore (jessa_moore) | 6 comments My bad...I'm reading Marked. Lol But it was close enough. :p

message 982: by Linnea (new)

Linnea (linneasinclair) | 96 comments I've gotten in to Elizabeth Moon's VATTA'S WAR SF series which has a romantic subplot. Really enjoying it. Read the first three last month and just picked up VICTORY CONDITIONS when I was at my own book signing at B&N last Saturday. If you like fun space opera--lots of action, lots of strong female protagonists, great conflict--and a light romance woven through the series (with a definitely sexy and complex hero), give Moon's VATTA books a try. ~Linnea

message 983: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahmicheal) | 19 comments I also have to recommend the Vatta's War series, I am halfway through the books now and really enjoying it so far. I was unsure at first because reviews are mixed and she was a new author for me, but I am glad I tried it. She has a couple other series as well that I think I'll try...eventually.

As far as paranormal romance goes, I am reading through Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark. I like them all, but my favorite is the first one, A Hunger Like No Other. I also just finished the latest Kitty Norville book by Carrie Vaughn, but I consider this series more urban fantasy although there is a romantic subplot through the series.

I also read Laurell K Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, and Kim Harrison. I tend to like series that are in first-person perspective and follow one person through a number of books.

message 984: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Really, Sarah? I liked A Hunger Like No Other the least of all of them. Bordered on hating it, in fact. To each his own, eh?

I'm actually reading Dark Needs at Night's Edge right now. I don't like it as much as I liked the previous two... something about Conrad and Neomi just isnt' doing it for me, but it is making me very anxious to read the next one. I love Cade! Who knew an author could make demon horns sound so sexy?

message 985: by Yz the Whyz (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 1020 comments Mod
I'm with you, Nichole. I feel the first book was the weakest in the series. My fave would be Cadeon's book and Sebastian's. I want my own demon with "lickable" horns....LOL..

message 986: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Yz, I laughed out loud when Nix told Cade she wanted to lick his horns! That's the best thing about Kresley Cole - her books are so sexy, but they're also just fun.

message 987: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahmicheal) | 19 comments Oh, I know a lot of people didn't like the first one. I guess it was my first real paranormal romance and it about knocked my socks off. I had still read Hamilton, Harrison, and Harris before I picked up Cole's books, but they are different authors than Cole.

I just finished Dark Needs about a week or two ago, and I agree with your assessment of it. It just didn't have the same oomph as the others. I've got the next two in my TBR but I am trying to space them out so I don't get burnt out on the series (that tends to happen when I read too much romance).

message 988: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Dark Needs was my least favorite. I loved Cade's book...that was a fun one.

message 989: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments I love the first book in Cole's series, and I also disliked Conrad's book. I just couldn't get into it. But I think my favorite was Bowen. I know a lot of people disliked that one, but I can't help but love Bowen and his brogue.

Although, lickable horns.... that's hard to compete with haha.

message 990: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I really liked Bowen's book, too. So far that one's my favorite, but I'm looking forward to Cade's book. The scenes in Dark Needs with Bowe and Mari, and then the scenes with Cade were what got me through it.

message 991: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments Her newest book (Kiss of a Demon King) was pretty good too. A lot of sex scenes in it.. not as much plot. My only problem with it was that I didn't like the heroine. What a pain in the ass.

message 992: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments I should get back to that series, LOL.

message 993: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I agree. She actually caused me to put this book down and give up on it. I loved the other books but just couldn't stomach this one. Hopefully the next one will be better.

message 994: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyjcohen) | 74 comments I love Elizabeth Moon's writing. Before the Vatta series, she did several books about Heris Serrano. There are seven or so books in that series (Hunting Party, Sporting Chance, Winning Colors, etc). I like her mix of strong heroine, military s/f, and a hint of romance. And I'm always a sucker for female spaceship captains.

message 995: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyjcohen) | 74 comments I just finished 22 Nights by Linda Winstead Jones. I enjoyed this PNR and its interesting premise:
General Merin didn’t realize he’d wed Lady Belavalari when he visited her village several years ago, so when he’s dispatched by his emperor to summon her as a potential bride, he seeks dissolution of his unwanted marriage. Clan ritual has Merin and Bela bound together with a rope for 22 nights, performing chores by day and sharing a cottage by night. If they are still bound at the end of the ordeal, the marriage will be dissolved. Can they resist their attraction to each other, even when Bela’s magical sword draws them together?

I've been meaning to pick up some Elizabeth Moon book for a while now; I really should next time I'm at a bookstore. Thanks for the rec!

I'm crazy-busy reading for school right now; I just managed to finish a re-read of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets right before my class last night, and now I have to finish Robert Cormier's Fade and a couple of chapters of a book on Lacanian psychology/theory and children's lit before class on Wednesday. And then I get to dive into more reading for class, heh.

I do have Patricia Briggs's Bone Crossed and an ARC of Ann Aguirre's Blue Diablo waiting in the wings; I'm hoping I can sneak a read in for those two very soon.

message 997: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) I met Jeaniene Frost this weekend and Comic Con! She gave me a free copy of her new book, signed it, took a pic and i got to see the cover for the next book!
She's really great in person!

message 998: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments That's so awesome! whats the cover look like? Any hints as to what may happen?

message 999: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments I just got Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs and can't wait to start reading it. Men of the Otherworld was very good.

message 1000: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) I'm really struggling with the Carpathian series by Feehan. I'm almost done with Dark Desire, the second book in the series, and I'm so frustrated with the way she writes the female leads. They are whiny and vacillate so much between accepting their "lifemate" and denying him that it's like watching a tennis match. The struggle to deny the relationship goes on and on and on...and they make the dumbest decisions because of it. Yet, we're supposed to believe that they are intelligent, strong, independent women. I just want to smack them upside the head. Does it get any better or is that the formula for every book? I really wanted to like this series and I know that a lot of you really love it.
