It's slow to get into -- there's a lot of world/character building -- but it gets really good. I had a friend who was ready to give up on the first one, but I gave her some hints of what's to come and she continued and has loved them so far.

Ha! I'm responding to my own post. To add a bit more... I'm chatting with the friend I mentioned. She's on book 6. She says she can't put the books down, lol.

Just starting up The Darkest Lie. Does she get better about not having to repeat everything Gideon says in order to translate his lies? That is going to be annoying if I, in a way, have to read all the dialogue twice.

to me it wasn't that it sucked, but it got sexually explicit at about book #10. if ur not comfortable with that u probably wont like it as much. hope this helps =)

IIRC, she keeps translating. I did enjoy the book, but yes, the translation gets old. I KNOW he's saying he hates her but that means he loves her. Sheesh! :-)

If it's only 1 series, BDB all the way. But if you want to build up your read, I would do Moning. First the Highlander series and then the Fever. The last book for Fever January. With this timeframe you won't be in pain waiting for the final book like a bunch of us.

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 3071 comments Only 4 more pages to go No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19) (Were-Hunter, #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . It's sooo worth the wait.

Next is The Immortal Highlander (Highlander, #6) by Karen Marie Moning . So thankful to have my highlanders in the wing to pick me up after Dev, Ethon, Fang & Ash are read.

The series does start out slow but I think its a good series. I was skeptical after the first one and tried the 2nd and now it is a series I will continue to read as long as she writes them.

message 9695: by K (new)

K | 21 comments Having real trouble getting into Dark Lover. It just seems like such a typical romance novel. It is almost exactly like Lara Adrian's first book, Kiss of Midnight, which I put down after a hundred pages. Please tell me that this book is better than that book.

I don't know why some romance novels intrigue me and others don't. I liked Virginia Kantra's and Lynsay Sands' books but then others just bore me.

message 9696: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Mannarino (joyce82270) | 155 comments I had trouble starting that book also K. After the character development and world building it get better. I couldn't get into Kiss of Midnight either. It was a chore to finish. Dark Lover will get easier and the series gets better

message 9698: by Jen ~The dreamer~ (new)

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments I liked Dark Lover but wasn't a fan of Kiss of Midnight. After Kiss of Midnight though, the books got so much better, just like the BDB. I think the first book in a series is always the hardest because of the character building, etc. I'm on book 6 of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed and it is FANTASTIC!
