Lori (moderatrixlori) I'm reading Slave to Sensation and really enjoying it so far. I love the idea of pairing a frigid, analytical, emotionless race of people with hot blooded, demonstrative, uber passionate werewolves. Oh boy is this going to be fun.

Lori,

I'm reading the third book, Caressed by Ice and I have the opposite. I have an ultra-cool Psy male fighting an attraction against a hot-blooded wolf female. This series is wonderful. Great characters and great conflicts.

message 853: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Lori, that's why we love them. ;) There's such a great contrast there, and the way she writes the emotionless race adapting to feeling again is believable and interesting.

Nichole, that was my problem with Frank too. :/

message 854: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I'm going to start reading [Book:Heart Mate|1244288] by Robin D. Owens sometime today.

message 855: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments So some think Jacquelyn Frank writes books that are too sweet. I for one like her books. I read a lot of urban fantasy as well and sometimes sweet is a brake from all the heavy sex and blood and gore in some books. Oh well just my 2 cents added to the mix.

message 856: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Well, I think you can do a book that's heavy on romance and low on blood and gore without getting too "schmaltzy" as my old piano teacher would say.

But even though that bugged me, it's not my main complaint with those books. What turned me off completely was her treatment of the soul mate angle. I eventually just got really exhausted by it.

message 857: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Count me as another Nalini Singh fan. Just finished Hostage to Pleasure (and, wow, the political subplot just gets more complicated and intense). But Caressed by Ice is still my favorite.

Looking forward to her new series!

OH my..now you are getting me excited. Is it okay to just read the full books, or do the novellas that are part of anthologies have to be read in order, too?

message 859: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Virginia, that one's my favorite too! (Incidentally, Nichole, Caressed By Ice may have what you're looking for, regarding what we were talking about in the other thread. But the series pretty much has to be read in order.) I'm really liking that series. (And really curious about her new one.)

message 860: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (xdxpx8xD) | 1 comments I'm reading the Uglies Series...again. I have paused on Twilight cuz I haven't gotten Eclipse yet. I already read them but I'm gonna read them AGAIN!

message 861: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I was just thinking today I might have to jump back on the Psy-Changeling bandwagon. ;)
I liked the first one but lost interest not too far into the second. But from what I'm hearing about it, especially with the overarcing storyline, I guess I'll have to give it another chance. I don't know that I had really given up on it completely in the first place, more taking a break.

message 862: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Yeah, when I read the first one, I didn't really have any particular interest to continue with the series, but then other members kept recommending it, so I thought, why not, I'll give it a shot, and I found that the next books were better. The author wrote the next books with a plan in mind, and that makes a difference. The first was kind of vague on some of the details (especially the politics and world-building) and romance that we eat up in the next books. :)

message 863: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Finished Slave to Sensation and loved it. Now reading Mona Lisa Awakening. The jury is still out on this one. So far it's pretty good.

Hmm.... keep us posted, Lori, this sounds intriguing.

message 865: by Cindi (new)

Cindi Kelley (cheesygiraffe) I just finished reading Fanged & Fabulous and now I'm reading Lady & the Vamp.

message 866: by tadah (new)

tadah (tadaah) A co-worker let me borrow Dark Prince by Christine Feehan and I am loving it. I can't wait until I finish this one so I can read another book by her that my co-worker loaned me. My co-worker told the the book was bit spicy...lol I will have to say that I agree with her. It makes me wish that I had someone like Mikhail in my life.

Currently reading Sandra Hill's The Love Potion.

This is my first time to try this author, and so far the story is hilarious. I'm actually enjoying the break of reading about a regular though gorgeous hero from the usual tortured alpha males that populate the PNR genre.

message 868: by B (new)

B | 55 comments *LOVING* Moon Called. Can't understand why I've never read Patricia Briggs before!!

message 870: by B (new)

B | 55 comments I wasted (?) most of the day reading. :) I should have rationed the pages, since the library won't have the next one anytime soon, I bet.

message 871: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments reading Origin in Death by J.D. Robb and then I'm starting Kiss of a demon king by kresley cole. :) (B&N had it on the shelves a day early.. awesome)

message 872: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Reading At Grave's End and I'm almost done. I think I'll be moving on to either finishing Moon Called or Touch of Madness. We'll see. I haven't been reading as much as before.

message 873: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments How do you like At Grave's End Ranata?

I'm not done yet but so far, so good. Not one of my favorites in the series but it's pretty decent. So far it gets a 4 star.

message 875: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cheryllaflammegmailcom) | 44 comments I am reading "To Tame a Highland Warrior" by Karen Marie Moning. I have never read this author before. I heard about her here on goodreads.
I am really enjouying this book!

I need to start that series. I have them all sitting here.

I couldn't finish it. The writing was pretty bad.

Lucky!! I just finished Moon Called. So good!

message 880: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicole_sea) | 7 comments I'm 148 pages into Veil of Midnight by Lara Adrian. It hasn't caught me the same way the earlier four books did, but it's still enjoyable thus far.

message 881: by Tymber (new)

Tymber Dalton (tymberdalton) | 29 comments I'm struggling through "Deeper Than the Night." I don't want to not finish it (considering I've invested this much time in it) but what could be a fantastic story has, for me, been really spoiled by horribly unrealistic dialog and a hero and heroine that don't act in ways that make sense in any universe, much less the one the writer has created. I'm holding off giving a final star rating to it until/unless I finish it. *LOL*

message 882: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) I ended up enjoying Mona Lisa Awakening, would have given it 3.5 stars if I could. I thought the "children of the moon" was a little cheesy, no pun intended, and I thought that Lisa accepted everything too readily, but all in all it was a good read and I plan on reading the other books in the series.

I started Wolf Tales last night and it's very interesting. Not really what I expected and definitely not for the sexually squeamish. Which as we all know...I'm not. I struggled a little to understand Xandi's initial attraction to Stefan since he was...well...different. But as the story unfolds it does make more sense. Still...the whole penis thing....I dunno.

message 883: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Mitabird, I had the same problem with that book. The dude just kept going on and on about heartmates, etc., etc. After a while, I was just like, I get it already.

message 884: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_julian) | 108 comments Started the new Kelley Armstrong last night, enjoying it so far. It's different for her, several points of view in third person rather than first.

message 885: by Kim (new)

Kim | 57 comments I just finished "Definitely Dead" by Charlaine Harris last night and thoroughly enjoyed the continuing saga of Sookie and her myriad assortment of friends and acquaintances. It was also nice to see a mystery somewhat wrapped up, although I was left with a great deal of unsatisfied curiosity about Sookie's latest romantic interest!

*grins bashfully* (I suspect Book 7, "All Together Dead", will wind up on my bookshelf before the end of the week!)

message 886: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments I am reading Animal Instincts by Gena Showalter and I like it. Kresley Cole, Kiss of a Demon King and this is dragging me a long I just cannot get into and it is half way done Uggg.

message 887: by Roberta (new)

Roberta (roberta_broussard_novelist) | 10 comments I just finished Mark Del Franco's book, Unquiet Dreams, which is classified as fantasy (of the urban style). I have it filed as a paranormal, and I'd consider his main character Connor to be similar to a powered down Harry Dresden. There is some romantic tension in the book with his love interest Meryl, but it is primarily an alternate Earth novel where Fey live with humans and the Fey are divided into several subsets: Druids, Fairies (people-sized with wings), Elves (the Nordic style with ears), Dwarves, Trolls, and Flits (Tinkerbell sized but definitely kick butt) as the main ones mentioned.

Anyways, it is book 2 in the series, and it has some solid characterization and plot (especially for a second novel). Admittedly, I read paranormals because I like the fantasy and horror elements to the genre and the romance is incidental for me.

message 888: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments Kim I love the Sookie Stackhouse series and I such an addict I read those books all the time and I excited about the next one reading the first chapter on her site was such a tease.

message 889: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Finished Wolf Tales...still not sure about that one. I have the whole series plus all of the Sexy Beast books so I hope they get better. Today I started Outlander and I'm also reading a gay vampire anthology Midnight Thirsts Erotic Tales of the Vampire that my gay best friend swears is so hot it will keep me up at night. I hope he's right...we'll see. The first story was okay but I prefer a little more romance with my porn LOL.

I know! Me, too! Have you read any of Ms. Harris' Aruora Teagarden (sp?) or other series? I haven't, yet,but I do like her writing style very much, and think those are going on my TBR shelf.

message 891: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments Kim, No I have not read her other series but I do want to add them to my TBR shelf.
Can I also say I am really loving how easy it is to make a reading list on here!

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I'm currently reading [Book:Tanner's Scheme|767547] by Lora Leigh.

message 894: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) I finally started Outlander last night. I have been putting off this huge book for weeks now and wasn't sure I was going to like it. It took a few chapters but man do I love this book now. It doesn't fit neatly into any one genre. It's historical, time travel, romance and a little paranormal thrown in for good measure. I read 100 pages last night and will have to keep up that pace, since it's 627 pages long, if I'm going to finish it and one more book by the end of January.

message 895: by Christi (new)

Kathy | 65 comments I'm reading The Dragon Master by Allyson James. This is the first book of hers that I have read and as it seems to be maybe 3 in the series I will have to read the rest of them. I also brought Gena Showalter's Heart of the Dragon.
