Lori (moderatrixlori) Tiffany, let me know how you like the wolf tales books. I bought the whole series but haven't started them yet. I was told that you have to also get the anthologies that are in between each of the books. So I want to get all of them before I start.

I LOVED the BDB series. Can't wait for the next one.

message 752: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (shigyrl30) Lori, I will let you know how I like Wolf Tales. It was recommended to me also and I wanted to see what they were like.

The BDB series is one of my favorites and I think my favorite is Dark Lover.

message 753: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cheryllaflammegmailcom) | 44 comments I have read 3 of the wolf tales and not in order. I have 2,3 and 5. I really enjoyed them and yes it would have been nice to read in order. I still enjoyed the characters. It was like OH that is how they got together. I look forward to picking up the others in the series.

Lori (moderatrixlori) Started Interstellar Service & Discipline 1: Victorious Star last night and OMG. This book is so awesome. It's SciFi and like an X-rated version of Star Trek with a hot captain and an alien first officer who is a specialist in erotic discipline. Love it!

Stephanie (stephanie_julian) | 108 comments Lori wrote: "Started Interstellar Service & Discipline 1: Victorious Star last night and OMG. This book is so awesome.

Lori, I picked this one up about a year ago and singed my fingers. Definitely for those who aren't afraid of anything goes erotica.

message 756: by Ally (new)

Ally I've just finished reading Witch Fire by Anya Bast and oh my god I loved it can't wait to get my hands on the next one. My new fave authour I think. I hope the writing is as good in her other books and I've got a new addiction :D

message 757: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresadamario) | 95 comments wow, what a great start to my new year! I've been a bit busy of late, then come back and find people talking about one of my books. :) Thanks Inez! I'm so glad you enjoyed Tigress by the Tail. In answer to the question, it is part of a series, but is the first in that series. Also, I am careful in this particular group of books to make sure you can pick up one at any time and not have read the others to thoroughly enjoy it! This particular book has one cross-over character from SheWolf, which is put out by Freyas Bower, but otherwise this is the first introduction of everyone here. :)

I hope you guys enjoy!

message 758: by Kim (new)

Kim | 57 comments I got Jim Butcher's Captain's Fury for Christmas (Codex Alera series) and loved it! Now, I'm reading Small Favor, continuing the Harry Dresden series. *happy dance*
Happy New Year, all!

message 759: by Mona (new)

Mona | 5 comments Just finished the fourth book in the House of Night series, reading Demon's Kiss by Eve Silver and 4 short stories called Eternal Lover, also re-reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer, then starting the Vampire Academy novels by Richelle Mead, and Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter. In between that, I have started reading the Texas Penal Code and the General Orders of my police department- all though that has nothing to do with Urban Fantasy

Kathy | 65 comments new_user wrote: "What do you think of it so far, Kathy? I thought it was a little repetitive, even though I really liked the first book, Demon's Kiss."
I'm only about half way in the book and can't seen to get into the story. I liked the first one but this... the whole "I can't remember what I've done" is just too much. I don't know that I will finish it at least not now. I'm giving Jordan Summers Red a try.

message 761: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I just started The Angelini: Skye's Trail by Jory Strong.

I'm almost finished with Midnight's Daughter, and next up is Jenna Black's new book, The Devil's Due. Hopefully I'll finish Midnight's Daughter before we drive back to Vegas on Sunday or Monday, so I can just carry The Devil's Due on the plane back to Dallas.

Ally, I loved Witch Fire, but the second book just wasn't as good for me. :( I hope you enjoy it more than I did! It just didn't seem to have the same spark (and the same HOT love scenes) as the first.

I just recently finished The Devil's Due and it was pretty good. Enjoy it!

I'm currently cruising through the J.D Robb In Death series. Excellent!

message 765: by Gina (new)

Gina (ginrobi) | 137 comments Jess, what did you think of Exit Strategy?

I want to wish you all a Happy New Year. Sorry I haven't checked in lately, but with a funeral the week before Christmas and our hectic holiday schedule, this is the first time I get to sit down and actually get to check in. Now that we're finally home, I've got laundry coming out of my ears!

I finished Shades of Dark by Linnea Sinclair, No Escape by Shannon K. Butcher (wife of Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files)) and One Last Scream by Kevin O'Brien. Currently reading Trust Me by Brenda Novak, the first in her "The Last Stand" trilogy.

message 766: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments Gina wrote: "Jess, what did you think of Exit Strategy?

Gina I really enjoyed Exit Strategy. I loved Nadia's character and the relationship between Nadia and Jack. I don't know if you read it or not, but if you didn't it's about an assassin named Nadia, and she is pretty kick ass. Much like Armstrong's other female characters in her Otherworld series.

message 767: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments Ok Ok I have a book problem. It just seems that I can't stop buying books. I have books to the right of me! Books to the left of me! When my daughter was a teenager she put arms up to stop me going into a book store and said nooooo. Oh well I'm done ranting. I bought 2 new books today. Veil of Midnight by Lara Adrian and Primal Needs by Susan Sizemore.

message 768: by Cheryl (last edited Jan 03, 2009 06:00PM) (new)

Cheryl (cheryllaflammegmailcom) | 44 comments Kathy,
I am in the same boat.I just got back from my favorite local (used) bookstore. I did not intend on buying. I just wanted to see if they had anything new and interesting.I should know better! I walked out with 11 books!! I still have plenty in my TBR pile. I am addicted! LOL! :)

message 769: by Jodz (new)

Jodz (jodz87) | 5 comments I'm 1/2 way through One Bite With A Stranger by Christine Warren ... So far so good!

message 770: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I finished The Angelini: Skye's Trail and I liked it. I'm going to start Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead today. It's the 3rd book in her Vampire Academy series.

message 771: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments Oh Kathy I am right there with you. I just walked out of the library and have a pile of 10 books, plus the 4 i just bought, and the 2 on the kindle I just bought. I can't help it :(

message 772: by LilMisGrayBrisk (last edited Jan 04, 2009 08:48PM) (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I finished Shadow Kiss and it was so good. I highly recommend this series.

Karen (karen_anders) | 4 comments Kathy - Admitting you have an addiction is the first step to recovery, but in this case, I don't want to "recover" from my addiction. I just bought seven new books just last week. Love that new book smell.

message 774: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments Yes what can I say I love my books even when I seem to have a hard time getting into them. Luckily that does not happen very much. I am enjoying Susan Sizemore's new book Primal Needs.

message 777: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 13 comments I finished the first book of the Black Daggar Brotherhood and absolutely loved it. I quickly jumped into the next one lover Eternal. I love all the characters being introduced and am looking forward to getting to know them all.

message 778: by ♥Tricia♥ (new)

♥Tricia♥ (siddie) | 146 comments I am reading Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) I'm on the 6th in the BDB series by Ward. There's a lot of madness happening so far.

message 780: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jessim) I finished the first in the Susan Sizemore series and just started the second one, I Thirst For You. They are pretty good books thus far.

message 781: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments I will soon be finished with Primal Needs and while I do like it the story is not as good as some of her earlier books.

The library is good and it found Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow for me I will read it next.

message 782: by Malena (new)

Malena (badgalmalmal) I have just started reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Looks like an interesting read.

message 783: by B (last edited Jan 06, 2009 10:18PM) (new)

B | 55 comments I was trying to read Heart Of Stone for the Urban Fantasy group read, but I'm not sure I'll be sticking with it. I'm reading the Alpha & Omega story in On the Prowl so I can start Cry Wolf. (And I'm also reading a few nonfictions -- but does anyone care about those?) :)

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) LOL non-fiction hmmm I've read a couple that were actually pretty good.

I love the Dante Valentine series!! Enjoy it Kathy :)

message 786: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Right now I'm reading Touch the Dark by Karen Chance and having a hard time getting into it. It has a lot of promise, but so far nothing's really happening and I haven't come across a character that strikes me as particularly interesting. And she really seems to be cramming a lot of world building into a short amount of time... I prefer my world building in small doses as they become relevant. No need to do it all in one fell swoop.

Also reading A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole, and again, can't get into it. In fact, I don't really like it. The characters are both unappealing, and the hero (what's his name, Lachlain?) is just a jerk. And he had to tear off his own leg at the very beginning... ew.

Waiting for A Fistful of Charms from the library. I think I'm ready to finish that series, finally.

message 787: by Sue (new)

Sue | 43 comments I just finished "Accidentally Dead" by Dakota Cassidy and am now reading "The Accidental Werewolf" I think I was supposed to read them the other way around but oh well. Great books, fun and entertaining!

message 788: by B (new)

B | 55 comments Oh -- I tried to read that one, Sue (The Accidental Werewolf) and it was pretty awful for me -- I abandoned it. (Anyone else have that experience?) I originally picked it up because I'd read the first few pages of Accidentally Dead and liked it. Wonder if things got better? (Yes, Accidentally Dead was the second in the series.)

message 789: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments Nichole, I love Kresley Cole's series, but A Hunger Like No Other was the weakest one for me. It picks up some maybe halfway through, but the rest of the series is fantastic.

message 790: by Tho (new)

Tho Nguyen (logansgirl176) | 2 comments I just read Veil of midnight by lara adrian, bite me if you can, and a bite to remeber both by lynsay sands.

message 791: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 49 comments I couldn't get through "The Accidental Werewolf" either. Has anyone made it through that book? Does it get better?

message 792: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Jennifer, I gave the book a second chance and continued reading it last night, and it has definitely gotten better. And I really like her writing style, so I think I'll keep plugging along. :)

message 793: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Nichole, I'm glad you're going to keep going with A Hunger Like No Other. That is one of my favorite series. Some books I like better than others but I still enjoyed them all.

message 794: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments Yeah, Lachlain finally quits being such a brutish jerk, and Emma finally grows a spine. The next one, No Rest for the Wicked, is my favorite in the series.

I know I read it but I can't find the book and I can't remember what it was about soooo it must not have been that good then.

Pamela (foxglovewitch) | 614 comments Mod
I plowed through books this week! I finished Devil's Due by Jenna Black and promptly devoured Larissa Ione's Pleasure Unbound. Now I'm trying to decide what to read next. I picked up King of Sword and Sky by C.L. Wilson, but for some reason I can't get into it. Hrm... time to dig through the new book pile. I've got Richelle Mead's Storm Born on top...

message 797: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 65 comments Has anyone read Vickie Taylor's books about gargoyles?
I have read 2 of them but can't seem to find anymore.

Diane Whiteside's book A novel of Texas Vampires series is very good. The first one and I think the only one out yet is Bond of Blood.

message 798: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Kathy, I read the first gargoyle book, but it doesn't look like there's going to be a third, unfortunately. I was looking forward to it.

I've heard that DW's books kind of lack substance. Are they more leaning towards romantica, do you think?

message 799: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments I love Kresely Cole's series! I think my favorite book was the one with Bowen, I forgot the name of it though. I think it was the fourth in the series.

I'm going to start Destiny Kills by Keri Arthur. I've heard mixed reviews, but here goes nothing

message 800: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cheryllaflammegmailcom) | 44 comments I love the Kresley Cole series as well!
