Thanks! I think I'm going to take a one-book breather before I start in on Succubus Heat, but I will keep the tissues handy, and tell you what I think. Can't help but relate to those subborn characters. Not sure if that's a good thing. ;)

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 89 comments Using Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampires, #1) by Rachel Caine as a breather book after finishing Succubus Dreams. I want to finish out the Georgina Kincaid series, but I need a couple days before I jump back on that emotional rollercoaster.

This opening book for the Morganville Vampires series looks promising. Who has read the series? Thoughts? Things to look forward to?

I can relate. I have a hard time getting through all Karen Chance books. Overall I enjoy the story but she packs so much into them I have to read slowly. Kind of wished she'd cut back on all the action. Just wears me out!

message 7615: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn (carolyn54) | 35 comments I have read all of them except the latest one. The series was great at the beginning, to me. I devoured them. But IMHO the last two have been bordering on a little too weird or maybe that's not the right word, perhaps blandly odd would be better. I got to the point that I was reading it just because when I start something I finish it. I have been hesitant to read the latest one for fear of further disappointment. Most of my friends that were reading the series stopped three books back. But I have it in my bag to take with me on vacation, so I will read it then.

I was just saying on another thread, I think, that I always feel exhausted after reading a Karen Chance book. :-) But at the same time, they're great stories... great action, great relationships (LOVE Mircea and Pritkin)... even Dorina's books were kinda the same way, though Midnight's Daughter started out kinda slow for me. Louis-Cesare certainly made an impression on me, though... especially in the second book.

Devil May Cry is one of the best DH books Kenyon has written. Katra is one of my favorite characters in this series and Sin was dealt a raw deal. I dislike more with every book. Anyway, glad you liked the book!

See, and that is exactly why I couldn't continue the series. Any smart person would leave town once they learned about the vampires, much less having them have a grudge against you, but she doesn't want to because her parents won't let her go away to college then? That is the most TSTL behavior ever.

message 7624: by Alondra (new)

Alondra (goodreadscombookgirl_lover) | 2 comments I'm currently reading Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead the author of Vampire Academy. I expect this book to be incredible( i mean her work is Amazing!). I have read only 2 chapters and Im so into it already! So Im looking forward to fall in love with this book series as I had fallen in love with VA.

Hi Diane. I'm not sure how far you read into the series, but one of the main plot points as it goes further along is that once you learn about the vampires, you are never allowed to leave the city again. So Claire is actually trapped there, and unless the head vampire allows her to leave, she can't.

It's been awhile since I read the first book and I don't have a copy to check anymore, but I remember her having the possibility of leaving but resisting because she would have to go home and her parents wouldn't let her go to a out-of-state college then like she wanted.

It took me a while to get into, but it was worth it once I did. The following ones aren't as hard to get into. I don't know if it was the world-building or what, but it just took me a bit to get into the first one.

What do you mean about Sin? He has Kat and they're having a baby. Please don't tell me the 'bitch-goddess' pulled a 'pity' me so Ash drop Sin like a rock?

I was extremely close to dropping this series for good, but thanks to your comment, I think I'll read the rest of Touch the Dark and decide on whether or not I want to continue the series after finishing it. :)

In the past two weeks, I've blasted through my yearly reread of the Harry Potter series, a really good m/m historical romance anthology called Last Gasp, and just finished Succubus Shadows, the ending of which both frustrated the hell out of me and intrigued me. I'm trying to decide what to read next; it's either Belladonna or Rosemary and Rue

I picked up When Darkness Comes (Guardians of Eternity, #1) by Alexandra Ivy . So far (though I just started), it looks promising.
