Gina (ginrobi) | 137 comments I agree, Joe. I adore the series! I think the male characters have a fine balance between fierceness and sweetness/protectiveness.

Lori, I'm right with you when it comes to J.D. Robb. No matter what I'm reading, when I get my hands on one, I drop whatever to read it, LOL! Very bad for that.

Oh, and Joe! I'd love to see a pick of your rolling bookshelf! I'd love to pass the idea to my hubby - give him an excuse to use one of the dozens of tools sitting in the garage collecting dust, LOL!

message 652: by TheGeekyBlogger (new)

TheGeekyBlogger I am re-reading the "Dead" Series by Charlaine Harris and last night I received my "shopping spree and I don't know what I was thinking" wolf books from Amazon (for some reason I am in a werewolf mood so I ordered a bunch of 1rst book in the series books). I will let you know how they are as I start them :)

Arlene | 6 comments I just blazed through Richelle Mead's Succubus series..and man! do I want to pull my hair out when I saw that book 4, Succubus Heat will be not be out until July 2009!! 7 months is a really really long wait!! I want to know what will happen to Seth and Georgina!

message 654: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) New_User - I'm burning through books as fast as I can but there are so many great series out there. I didn't start reading this genre until July when I read all the Twilight books. Since then I've read over 60 books. I love it though because I haven't had to wait for any books to come out. I just sail right through the series.

message 658: by tadah (new)

tadah (tadaah) I am currently reading a young adult book. The title is Untamed by P.C. and Kristin Cast it is the fourth book in a five book series. The books are about a girl that is changing into a vampire and she goes a "vampire" finishing school. I put it right up there with the Twilight Series. It's the type of books you will not be able to put down.

Lori I started reading the first chapter of the first book at Barnes and Noble. I couldn't put it down but I had to...lol That is series is on my list of to read books.

Jill | 24 comments I've read the Cast's House of Night series. Looking forward to the next release!

I just started Lara Adrian's Midnight Awakening.

message 661: by Lori (new)

Lori Ehrman (lorilei) | 13 comments Carla - you naughtly girl!!!!

Now a word of caution - don't get frustrated - I'm a fast reader but found I couldn't read fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. I started the series when only 2 books were out so the wait between seemed forever.

Jill, I went to the House of the Night My Space website and guess what? There is going to be a movie I don't if the movie is going to cover all 5 books or just the first one. I don't know when it is going to be out either. I can't wait for the movie.

message 663: by Jill (new)

Jill | 24 comments Thanks Carla. Very cool! Now to wait for details and a release date.

CJ - It's only a Paper Moon (bookewyrm) | 57 comments Reading "An Accidental Goddess" by Linnea Sinclair. It's true, I'm addicted. Now there's really only one book left - WinterTide (I believe) before Hope's Folly but as I stated before, don't know how I feel about that. I'll most likely read it but I really just don't care about Philip. I want more Chaz and Sully!!

message 665: by traceyellen (new)

traceyellen | 27 comments Jill and Carla---House of the Night is YA right? What is the "suck you in" factor? Meaning is it one of thoes series that makes your laundry get ignored and dinner get delivered?

message 666: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 286 comments For those of you that like the House of Night series, you have to read the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. There are 3 books out so far, with the 4th coming out next year. You'll love them. I read House of Night first, and I actually have to say that I now like Vampire Academy better, but I love them both.

I am anxiously waiting for the next in both of those series to come out. Come to think of it, there are about 10 series that I can't wait for the next one!

message 667: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I just started reading One Silent Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's OK so far.

message 668: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments I'm currently reading 5 different series at once, and I haven't confused any of them yet!
Jim Butcher's Dresden Files
Lynsay Sands Argenau series
Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series
Mary Janice Davidson's undead series
J.D. Robb's In death series

They are all pretty good so far.

Nancy (nancyjcohen) | 74 comments THE 731 LEGACY by Joe Moore & Lynn Sholes
This fourth book in the Cotten Stone saga is chilling in its reality, depicting a secret Japanese facility dating to WWII where heinous medical experiments were performed; a bioterrorist plot that is horrifyingly plausible; and a critical confrontation between good and evil at the grande finale. I loved the ending! I won’t spoil it for you, but needless to say you’ll be left with a smile on your face and a warm glow in your heart. The authors’s breakneck pacing and tension-elevating style will have you asking for more.

GUARDIAN OF HONOR by Robin D. Owens
When attorney Alexa Fitzwalter is pulled into an alternate world to become a warrior Marshall, she doesn’t count on falling for an outcast horseman or on fighting monsters threatening the land called Lladrana. If the choice comes for her to return home, will she take it, or will she stay to complete her destiny? Immerse yourself in fantasy and escape to another reality with this fast-paced read.

I picked up Gena Showalter's The Darkest Night yesterday (man, I love clearance shelves at used bookstores), and despite not being finished with the Harry Potter book I'm in the middle of, I started reading it. Seems okay so far, but I'm only a few chapters in.

message 673: by traceyellen (last edited Dec 13, 2008 12:40PM) (new)

traceyellen | 27 comments I love Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series. I had a hard time getting into The Darkest Night but after like the first six or so chapters I couldn't put it down.

I just finished The Killing Dance and it is my favorite so far. I seem to like the books that Edward shows up in the best...on to Burnt Offerings.

Yeah, I'm kind of wanting to slap the heroine in Darkest Night right now. Here's hoping she gets less annoying, heh.

Glad you're enjoying Mack and Gillie and Simon! GODDESS is my "pressure cooker" book--put all the characters together on a (small) space station, don't let them leave, and see what happens. ;-)

I hope you'll give Hope's Folly a chance. Philip really does sport his hero duds, as one reviewer said. And Rya is terrific. Plus...there's a cat on board the ship. ;-)

I have sneak peeks up on my Yahoo Group. ::hint hint nudge nudge:: ~Linnea

Linnea (linneasinclair) | 96 comments Kathy wrote: "I loved Accidental Goddess it was so much fun."

Thanks, Kathy! Mack is one of my "good boy" heroes (Theo Petrakos in The Down Home Zombie Blues is the other.) Not that I don't love bad boys--I do. Love those strong alpha guys with decidedly naughty streaks. But we see a lot of them. Mack is actually modeled after my husband, Rob. ;-) A really strong, honorable person. Those kinds of guys need love too! ;-) ~Linnea

If you like stories with no ending. You should. I read the sequel and Mac is less annoying in it but still no ending and not alot of resolution. That's very frustrating to me.

message 679: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Fangirl, I think you're going to be disappointed. The heroe and heroine did not become smarter or more interesting with time for me. Maybe you'll have more luck.

Linnea, I'm intrigued by your talk of good boys, LOL. Just added yours to my TBR. ;)

Jill, Jael is right. You pretty much have to read all the books to have any kind of resolution to the series. The books don't really have any ending (at least the first didn't).

message 680: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments Fangirl, the series picks up more in books two and three. 'Night is decent, but the weakest of the series.

CJ - It's only a Paper Moon (bookewyrm) | 57 comments Linnea - I am on my way :)

And I am going to read Hope's Folly, just wish there was more Chaz and Sully ;0D I think I'm just a little weirded out because I know "who" he is in terms of Chaz. I like him, I do, I've just gotta get over it. It's sort of like knowing your best friend's ex-husband is dating someone else..... lol.

By the way - you are one of my favorites now just wanted to say thank you for writing :)

message 687: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I'm in the middle of Cloud Watcher by Lilith Saintcrow. This is the fourth book in the series. This whole series is so great. If anyone is a fan of her Dante Valentine series, these Watcher books are a must read. They are short, but jam packed.

message 699: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Me too Jess. I'm sure we'll learn more about her in the new book. I want Blay to hook up with some stud muffin too. He deserves some love since Qhuinn broke his heart.

message 700: by Jess (new)

Jess | 173 comments Kathy - the author's name is Lilith Saintcrow, and the Dante Valentine series that she wrote has I think 5 books in it. Dante is a necromance (but not really similar to Anita Blake). The first book, the devil (Lucifer) has sent a demon up to request Dante to visit with him in hell. He wants her to kill someone for him. This particular demon escaped from hell and taken something that belonged to Lucifer. He wants Dante to kill the demon and get the stolen item. Of course, it is the devil, so there are ulterior motives and such.

The next few books after that are centered around Dante and the various bounty hunting jobs that she does, and the fact that the devil just can't seem to leave her alone. It was a pretty good series, but once I started I couldn't stop, and I ended up reading all 5 books within a like 4 day span

New user - ahh Xhex, I knew it was something weird with an X. Yeah I can't wait to read more about her and John, it was a pretty hot storyline going on!!
