Socrate | 16 comments Hi I just finished Lords of the Underworld. I would say it's an ok series. It is not the "I can't put it down" kind but it is a nice read.
I don't know what to start reading now so I'm browsing around Goodreads for suggestions.

If you read City of Bones, be sure to read City of Ashes and City of Glass. Each book is better than the one before and one of my very favorite series.

Jas (10jbean01) | 30 comments Just started the Lords of the Underworld Series (Gena Showalter)and I wanna give a BIG smooch to all of you who talked about it/recommended it! I'm about half-way through and I'm in love with it already!!

I am a little confused though- is this series meant to be a trilogy? or more? On the front cover of the 1st book it says trilogy but online it mentions other stories...???

message 6315: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 76 comments Finished Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, and am now reading the next book in the series, One Foot In the Grave. I'm much more in to it now than I was before, and I am excited to see what happens next.

message 6316: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Jbongiorno, it started out as a trilogy, but since Gena's writing books for each Lord it's not just three. This is the order so far: The Darkest Night, The Darkest Kiss, The Darkest Pleasure, The Darkest Whisper, and "The Darkest Angel" which is part of an anthology called Heart of Darkness. In May, her next book Into the Dark comes out and that has all Gena's eBooks and some extra Lords stuff. Then in June, The Darkest Passion, Aeron's book, comes out. Then, in July, The Darkest Lie, Gideon's book, comes out. Gena is finishing up Amun's book, and she has just started writing Strider's book. Hope this is helpful to you :)

I had a hard time getting into Covet but once I did I LOVED the story! Can't wait for the next one! :D

I'm currently reading Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead for the PRJ Book Club. *sigh* I LOVE the Vampire Academy books but I have such a hard time with "romance" novels (aka books that follow some girl around while she finds out things about herself and has random sex with random guys and is "so confused" about her choices the whole time) so I'm having trouble getting through this one. I read PNR for the true love stories, not random life lessons w/ sex scenes. hehehe

I miss JR Ward. Maybe I'll re-read her next. :) I'll admit, I have never re-read a series. Ever. JR Ward is the first one I've ever even considered. I miss those boys. ;)

Only series I have re-read so far, and this being just so far is the Twilight series. I loved it so much that once I finished Breaking Dawn for the first time I went through and re-read the series again. I plan on re-reading all my series especially when I am in the middle of waiting for books to come out, right now Books are coming out and there are still a lot of series I haven't even started. I have 30+ books in a box, packed up waiting to be read. but that's the good thing about owning books, they can sit there and collect dust until that day you finally come back pull them off blow that collected dust and open them up, making it feel like it's the very first time you've open it's cover. So great!

YES the ESCAPE! I read to escape the normalities of the real world. I don't like reading books that remind me too much of the real world.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments Samantha, I read the Twilight books in 2007 and it took me a year to stop re-reading them and move on. But there are some wonderful books and series out there, not every one is for every person, but when you find one, what a treasure. My favorite in the YA books besides Twilight is the Mortal Instruments trilogy by Cassandra Clare. But I just read the Sevenwaters Trilogy by Marillier and it moved up there beside these other two. It's not YA, but not that far from it.

I love all the series I have read so far... twilight, mortal instruments, sookie stackhouse, vampire academy, Blue bloods, BDB, HON, I have read 4 books of the Dark Hunters series, and the Mercedes Thompson series so far. I only started reading again last April.

I have the first book on a lot of series, so it definitely deems to be a good time.

message 6329: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Currently, I'm doing a re-read of the BDB, and I'm about to start Lover Unbound (LOVE Vishous, btw!) I'm also reading The Blood Books, Volume III.

message 6330: by Jas (new)

Jas (10jbean01) | 30 comments Leah, that was definitely helpful information and I'm really glad Showalter decided to do a book for each individual. I was a little surprised when I saw that (originally) it was supposed to be a trilogy because I wanted to know about each character. Although, just once, it would be nice to have a series end, ya know?! (And to end quickly so I don't spend years and years waiting....) But still, I'd rather read about them all :)

I hear ya. I think they refer to the first three as a trilogy because there was about a year or so between the release of the third one and the fourth one. Also, maybe since there's gonna be 12 books because there's 12 Lords, each three would be considered a trilogy, making there be four trilogies (sp?) in the series. But, I just call it a series. LOL

message 6334: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) I started Catch a Mate by Gena Showalter last night after I finished The Hunger Games (loved that book), and I started Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins this morning :)

It's the Allie Beckstrom series by Devon Monk . I came across it on some people's reading lists here on Goodreads, but reviews have been mixed. Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, #1) by Devon Monk
Can anyone let me know if the series is any good? Thanks everybody, and happy reading!
