I'll definitely review it when I'm done. I hope I like it because I'm supposed to be reading all 5 books that are out for the Serial Reader Challenge. :)

message 6204: by MG (new)

MG I've just started Black Dagger Brotherhood. It's pretty interesting so far.

On another note, I SO want to get into City of Bones because I've heard such awesome things about it, but after reading the first chapter, I don't know... My interest kind of wavered. And, I'm one of those who usually has a HARD time putting a book down once she starts it. Does it get better? :)

message 6205: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Just finished and really enjoyed Nice Girls Don't Live Forever (Jane Jameson, #3) by Molly Harper .

Now starting Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange . The reviews on Goodreads aren't very stellar, but I am always willing to give a book a shot.

message 6206: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments I've just started Blue Smoke by Nora Roberts (romantic suspense) and have Gods and Generals by Jeff Shaara (historical fiction) underweigh. I'm also going to start The Mane Squeeze by Shelly Laurenston (PNR) today. I have Cockatiels at Seven by Donna Andrews (mystery) about half way done. It's not unusual for me to have anywhere from three to five or six different books going at once.

message 6207: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Angela, let me know what you think of The Darkest Whisper. I look forward to your review on it :)

Harper, I think you'll like the Succubus series. It's pretty good. Obviously I haven't read the fifth one yet because it hasn't come out yet, but the first four are pretty fantastic. Richelle Mead is a phenomenal author.

message 6208: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison Cherra: I suppose that Fantasy Lover is a tad on the cheesy side, but the further into the series you get the darker they go & I absolutely ADORE them! Kenyon writes a tortured soul like no one I've read! It's worth reading them, honest.

Nonie: I'm reading them all in sequence too! I was held up for a bit by the library, but I've read the last 5 in the past couple of days & I'm working my way up to ACHERON & I can't wait!

message 6209: by Valorie (new)

Valorie | 426 comments I finished Kiss & Hell by Dakota Cassidy . A really cute stand alone by Dakota Cassidy. Very funny, witty writing. I'm now reading Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampires, #1) by Rachel Caine

message 6210: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Allison, Acheron is my favorite Dark-Hunter book. I'm re-reading it now and it just gets better and better each time.

message 6211: by Jas (new)

Jas (10jbean01) | 30 comments Hmmm, I read Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter book "Dark Side of the Moon" and did not like it ...I thought it was kinda boring and just lacked-everything. The plot was sub-par, no real depth to the characters BUT I'm wondering, now (since I see so many pple who like it), if this is because I read them out of order and started with book 9?? Or maybe this one was the worst of the bunch and just a bad one to start with?

message 6212: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) You know, I haven't read Dark Side of the Moon, yet, but I recommend starting from the beginning. You might appreciate the rest of them if you start from the beginning. But, in saying that, I love Sherrilyn, but some books I like better than others. It depends on the book.

message 6213: by Jas (new)

Jas (10jbean01) | 30 comments Yeah, I think thats probably a good idea- I remember being more intrigued by the side characters than the two I was supposed to be reading about so I may have to try from the beginning. Especially since Acheron has a book and he was definitely a fascinating character!

Also, another author that people seemed to like but let me down, Marjorie M. Liu. I just read "The Red Heart of Jade" and loathed it, but I really loved the first in the Dirk and Steele series and liked the 2nd a lot. Did anyone else read these series? And if so, should I keep going or give up?

message 6214: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) I know what you mean about being more intrigued by side characters. Sometimes I feel bad because when Acheron is in a book, I'm always more interested in what he's doing because he's my favorite. I say you should definitely say you should start from the beginning, and also, don't judge the whole series on one or two of the books. Like I said, some are better than others.

I didn't think so. I finished it for the same reason of hoping that it would get better. It didn't - in my opinion.

Crystal (OMalley) | 25 comments Leah, Why did you dislike Speak? Would you have any suggestions, i like yyoung adult, paranormal.

message 6225: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Crystal, I think the main reason I disliked Speak was because of the lack of real dialogue. I think the plot in general was okay, but I don't really think a book is a book if it doesn't have dialogue.

I can certainly make some suggestions for you. Would it be okay if I sent them to you in a message instead of this thread, though?

I heard this one--Fantasy Lover is a prequel. I had to dump it...too cheesy. I am going to read the first in the series--I want to like them b/c I just ordered the entire series on my kindle. It was a package deal.

My husband had trouble getting through Fantasy Lover too. Don't worry though, it gets much much better once you actually start the series! Enjoy!!

message 6228: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Cherra, like everyone else has said, Fantasy Lover was indeed cheesy, but it also is the first book. It gets much, much better as you go through the series.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) thanks ya'll! RE: Fantasy Lover-- I am definitely going to keep reading.

message 6230: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Happy to help, Cherra, and happy to hear you'll continue to read Fantasy Lover. Despite it being cheesy, I do think it is a good book.

I really liked this book - very dark and disturbing. Did you see the Swedish movie based off this book? I liked the movie a tad more. But you do learn more about Eli's background in the book. I guess they are making an Americanized film now.

I agree. I'm definitely a big fan of their story and I LOVE that they continue telling their story throughout the rest of the series. :D

message 6234: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Definitely, Courtney. I loved when Julian and Grace showed up in Night Pleasures, and all the times that Julian fights with Ash and the other Dark-Hunters. Love it.

message 6235: by Angela (new)

Angela (angbens) | 343 comments I am currently waiting for Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon to come in the mail from the swap, so I started Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead

message 6236: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Angela, both of those are great books. I hope you enjoy them :)

Ash if my fave too, I adore him. Couldn't wait for his book, and it is definitely my favorite story as well. I cried so much the first half of the book. Glad he got a happy ending, though I wanted to save him for myself. :-)

I just finished Iron Kissed and I loved it. Best on yet. I immediately picked up the next to read for the challenge next month. But right now I am trying to finish Lover Eternal. I like it better than the first, but I am a little more than half way through it and just got to a scene that almost made me change my mind. I about through the book across the room, I was so pissed.
