Rachael (dyannereads) | 24 comments Right now I am reading The Cursed (Vampire Huntress Legend, Book 9)I love this series.

Damali Richards is a young women battling the ultimate evil to prevent the Armageddon with the help of her Guardian team.Of course she falls in love with a boy from the wrong side of the tacks.

Now I have been reading Paranormal thrillers for a long time. What make these books so great is that they a written by a Black women. Now don't get bent out for shape for me bring ethnicity up, but you have to admit PNR is dominated by white women. The immersion into Black culture is wonderful. Being a suburban white girl the cultural differences is so refreshing.

I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Jesslynn, I had a hard time getting through the first book. I also, heard how funny the series is supposed to be, but I just don't see it. As a dog lover I liked the idea of a talking dog, but her dog just reminded me of Scrappy Do. Not cute at all.

Jessie | 128 comments This week I finished A Rush of Wings (The Maker's Song, #1) by Adrian Phoenix and Flirt (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #18) by Laurell K. Hamilton and can't decide what to start next. Sunday I will be picking up Black Magic Sanction (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #8) by Kim Harrison but not sure I can wait till then to start a new book. I have a TON of books downloaded for my Sony Reader but no clue what to start with....

Jessie | 128 comments I think today I will start either:

Grave Surprise (Harper Connelly Mystery, #2) by Charlaine Harris

or

Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs

Though I just read Iron Kissed a couple weeks ago so I think I need a change of setting for a bit :)

message 6119: by Nita (last edited Mar 23, 2010 11:23AM) (new)

Nita (gillnit) Finished up Jordan (Pendragon Legacy, #3) by Susan Kearney . I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two in the series. The story I did not find as exciting and the hero, Jordan, who is supposed to have been Merlin, just wasn't that great. Kind of a let down, actually.

Now reading a non-paranormal erotic romance, Sin (Hamilton Sisters #1) by Sharon Page .

I actually felt the same. I didn't like this book half as much as the first two. And it was defineitly dissapointing because it was the last in the series. Not a great ending.

I love the Grave Series so far as well. Finished #2 today Grave Surprise. They are such fun quick reads. Great murder mystery with just a hint of supernatural. Sometimes I get too lost in the worlds of magic : )

Now what to start next...maybe I will finally cave and start the BDB series???

Idk...why it didn't grab me. I think the dog, grandmother and southern phrasing was all just trite. I'm from atlanta, GA and i just thought it was weird. Plus who changes from school marm w/no life to leather babe w/ attitude in 2 hours...idk, i just didn't get it.

No, the very next book to me is the actual start of the Dark Hunters. Kyrian is actually still one of my fave DH's. HOT!

Jesslynn is right. The actual DHs start with the next book. Fantasy Lover is a very cheesy but kinda cute lil prequel story. The more darkish PNR starts with Kyrian. That's when you find out what the Dark Hunters are and meet the baddies and so on.

message 6144: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments SK is on the cheesy side, but purposefully so. She has a lot of tongue in cheek going on, mixed in with the heavier elements. It doesn't take itself all that seriously. Her heroes aren't too angsty--which I like. But Fantasy Lover isn't really indicative of the series. It's just set-up.

It's a good one. I get tired of the "I hate you, but I love you but I hate you but I love you" conflict that happens in a lot of these novels. The heroine is stubborn and you feel bad for her but I'm grateful for a heroine that actually sticks to her convictions and loves him no matter what. It's an amazing book! Let me know what you think!! :D

Her writing is pretty over-the-top. I tried like several books of hers, considering the huge fanbase, but find it cheesy, as you say it.

message 6148: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 173 comments So...my library wasn't open and I couldn't go pick up Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan so I bought Devil in a Kilt (MacKenzie Series, #1) by Sue-Ellen Welfonder on my Kindle and am reading that. Very fast paced (which I LOVE! I hate the whole "Let's go to this city" then they spend several chapters going on and on and on about it! Gah!) and the characters are easy to fall in the love with. A lot of the same descriptions of the characters over and over and over. Getting kind of annoying but I'm almost half way through so the main story line should start picking up soon! Yay!
