Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 145 comments Just put down Industrial Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #4) by Kelley Armstrong and picked up Haunted (Women of the Otherworld, #5) by Kelley Armstrong

message 5402: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) OK, finished Shadowfae (Shadowfae Chronicles, #1) by Erica Hayes . I actually liked it quite a bit. If you like erotic urban fantasy that is little bit dark and twisted, I recommend it. Warning - the book is quite gross at parts. I lost count of the number of times the main character, Jade, pukes.

Now reading: Eternal Hunter (Night Watch, #1) by Cynthia Eden

Jenn (sportsgirlca) | 92 comments Finished Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead and now on to Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) by Richelle Mead . This series is very different then I expected. But I guess that's what happens when you don't read the book's description. I have a habit of doing that and reading popular/recommended books because they are in a genre I like. I like to be surprised. Expect I did read the info on Burned b/c I needed hope after Tempted.

message 5404: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (ccp981) I'm reading Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank. It's a really interesting idea. I am just getting bogged down by how hard everyone is trying to keep Jacob and Bella from having sex. It distracts from the plot, and if I have missed the mark and that is the plot, then I am in real trouble with this book!

new_user | 1389 comments LOL, Nita, I agree about Shadowfae, and Eden is another enjoyable author.

message 5406: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 69 comments I started reading Vampire Academy and not sure if I like it so far! I think I'm having a hard time getting my head around how different the vampires are in this book compared to the Twilight series (which I just finished a couple of weeks ago and LOVED). Anyone else have this issue??

message 5407: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Rosella (mandy1744) | 9 comments At the start I wasn't sure if I liked the Vampire Academy series or not but as I read on I got really addicted and ended up loving the series. Vampire Academy is very different to Twilight but that's good right? Unlike Bella, Rose actually has a backbone (not as if I have anything against her) and I love the difference cause who wants Twilight do overs? Anyways at the moment I'm reading The first book to Vampire Diaries, I'm loving it! It is very twilight like but that can't be helped since the book was like written 10 or so years before Twilight even existed. Anyway it's a really good read.

message 5408: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 69 comments Yeah I totally agree with you, I don't want an exact copy of the Twilight plot, it's just hard for me to understand certain things about the Vampires in Vampire Academy like....When they suck blood it gives the 'feeder' a euphoric feeling whereas in Twilight you die basically! lol. I dunno it's just a bit weird to me at the moment but I'm only about 70 pages into it so will keep going and see how i go!!

message 5409: by Storm (new)

Storm (stormgerlock) I just started The Awakening, the first in the Vampire Diaries series. I'm not sure what I think yet, I'm actually finding it really vague... Which is weird... I think

message 5410: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Rosella (mandy1744) | 9 comments Andrea I'm sure you will love it and if you don't oh well. I have just started the Awakening in Vampire Diaries and I am enjoying it!

message 5411: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) Just finished The Princess Bride by William Goldman

Now I'm reading Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher I just love that Harry Dresden

message 5412: by Valorie (new)

Valorie | 426 comments I just finished The Darkest Pleasure and really enjoyed it. Not quite as good as the first two books in the series, but I really liked it. I'm now reading Secondhand Spirits A Witchcraft Mystery by Juliet Blackwell

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) JUST FINISHED Pride (Mira Direct and Libraries) by Rachel Vincent ...SOOOOO GOOD. Starting [image error] tonight.

Keep reading. I've just made myself take a short break from reading the second Vampire Academy book right now.

I read Evernight after the Twilight series and it was a good transition. But next I read Marked and it took a while to get into all of the weird things about that series. I kept reading and really loved it. I read all of House of Night books in 10 days. It ended up sucking me in, but I first had to struggle through the differences.

message 5415: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) Just finished Lover Eternal, and I think that I'm going to read Fallen next.

message 5416: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Rosella (mandy1744) | 9 comments My love for Vampire books started with Twilight as well. I fell in love with it, until of course I started to read other and I realised Twilight was quite boring and needed more action. And I also hate the fact that the Twilight Vampires are so deadly. The fact that humans have no chance. I like books where human can still fight off vampires they may still be stronger (vampires) but humans know a way to kill them. Hunters and stuff like that.

message 5417: by Rachele (new)

Rachele | 11 comments Finished Born of Night, and was a little dissapointed in the ending. I feel that way about a lot of PNR books though (something about it feeling rushed into a conclusion in the last 20 pages or so).

Right now I'm reading The Time Traveler's Wife because I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie. I'm about halfway and I'm enjoying it so far.

Next I'm back to the League with Born of Fire (The League, #2).

i literally just finished Pride and i can't wait to start Prey. "

If you haven't already, dont read the description for Shift--it kind of ruins what is coming in Prey. after reading the first sentence, I quit reading the summary. I had heard it was sad.

message 5425: by FlibBityFLooB (new)

FlibBityFLooB I just finished re-reading Playing With Fire (Silver Dragons, #1) by Katie MacAlister . Going to re-read Up In Smoke (Silver Dragons, #2) by Katie MacAlister tonight. Then, hopefully I'll be able to start Me and My Shadow (Silver Dragons, #3) by Katie MacAlister . Figured a re-read of the first two before starting #3 would do me good since I haven't read them for the past 8 months :)

Vampire Academy is really nothing like Twilight, to be honest. (And well, in my opinion, that's a good thing). He main character (Rose) can really hold her own (In a way Bella couldn't). And she doesn't need "saving" in the physical way that Bella did. But the love storyline in this series is really addicting! Just over all, worlds better then Twilight in my opinion. I LOVE this book series.
