Kaitlin | 6 comments To any and all who have read the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels....I need help.

I was suggested this series by a friend. When I started reading Dark Lover, I got maybe into the second chapter and I just could not get into it. It sat on my book shelf unread for the longest time. I finally decided to give it another shot, and when I really let myself focus on the book I fell in love. I love Wrath and Beths story so much.

BUT! Not knowing anything about the series I bought Lover Eternal thinking it was another continuation of Dark Lover, picking up where it left off, not realizing that each book is about a different brothers story. And now I find myself in the same position with Lover Eternal.. Im hesitant about going on with the series...

So I guess what Im asking is, should I keep reading the series even though it isn't what I expected? Will I be dissappointed?

message 5157: by Laura (new)

Laura Fonseca (daddy_girl_ynk) | 90 comments I believe you should! I loved Rhage story. Even thought Wrath's was good. Zsadist was always my favorite and i've loved him. I believe you should go on n not miss the books!

I loved the BDB! But I have picked up many books and felt the same way you do. My advice is to try 2 more and give them at least 75 pages each. By that point you will either be sucked in and really like them and know they just take a minute to get into for you or you will know it's just not for you. My BFF tried to read them but she really disliked them. We still debate about it.

BDB is a classic paranormal romance series. Meaning that each book is about 1 couple--they get their HEA, the book ends and it's on to the next couple. There is always a back story that links the books and couples from previous books might make a rare appearance, but generally are not part of the story once their book is over.

I loved the BDB series, but if you are looking for a series that truly continues the story, you should look at Urban Fantasy or Urban Fantasy Romance. I looked at your shelf and since you don't have your books rated with stars, I couldn't tell how you felt about the books you have read. But, since you finished the Sookie Stackhouse series, you must have liked it. Based on that, I would suggest that you check out the following books that are first in a series of UF or UFR...a few of my favorite series:

Halfway to the Grave--UFR
Storm Born--UFR
Full Moon Rising--UFR (fyi-lots of sex)
Moon Called--UF
Stray--UF
Mona Lisa Awakening--UFR (lots of sex so be forewarned)

I love some good steamy sex too--I just like it most when there is a great story that goes along with the love making. These books I suggested have a good plot too...the bed room scenes are an added bonus ;-)

I really like them.. the world building is pretty complex and can be confusing at times because there is time travel, but I'd still reccommend! Cassie is a clairvoyant and there are vamps, mages, fey, witches, ghosts, demons, gods, some weres.. and probably more. I'm hooked though. It reminds me a little of the Fever series as far as pace and action.

If you haven't started it yet I'd suggest doing so soon. I've read all 7 of the books and than went back and reread the first 2 a second time. Can't wait for the 8th to come out.

Sookie Stackhouse books are fun! The first book is a little slow, but it picks up. ALso I suggest BDB (JR Ward) Midnight Breed Series (Lara Adrian) and Chicagoland Vamp Series (Chloe Neill).

A series with an almost identical story line is Adrian's series starting with Kiss of Midnight. If ur looking for some variation but still in the category of HOT PNR, u should check out the following series. I will list the 1st book in the series: Riding the Storm (ACRO, #1) by Sydney Croft Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione Angels' Blood (Guild Hunters, #1) by Nalini Singh Jacob (Nightwalkers, #1) by Jacquelyn Frank The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter

East by Edith Pattou Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George
