Nice to hear about On the Edge!"

I can't believe you haven't read On the Edge. That book seems right up your alley. I loved it. It's a little quirky--the first chapter or so I was like: ok, WHAT IS GOING ON? it's good stuff.

Keta (ketadiablo) | 16 comments I'm a voracious reader in the paranormal genre, but I also like to read other books that have come highly recommended. And, I'm one of those who has about four books going at once. Here's what I'm reading this month:

The Bronze Horseman, Pauline Simons Set in Russia during the war - very good)

And Indecent Proposal, Emma Wildes (erotic romance)

Enchanted, Elizabeth Lowell

Tender Torment, Jane Archer (an older historical)

Happy reading, Keta

Laura Fonseca (daddy_girl_ynk) | 90 comments I started the Riley Jensen Series. & hated it! You can't really like the book when you hate the main character so much...i kept going for Quinn but then got bored. I've herd suggestions about The Fever series? and also the League Series & Dark Hunter? Suggestions...

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Tee hee, Cherra. I bought it a bit ago, but didn't feel pushed to read it, especially since I wasn't wowed by Magic Bites. Now I've read, and loved, Magic Burns and Magic Strikes, so I plan on reading On the Edge this month!

Quirky is good. Quirky IS right up my alley!

Emma Kinna | 2 comments Hey, if you like paranormal romance you might like to try out my book, A House Afire

Another excellent one that I just read is a YA novel called Lips Touch: Three Times It's not one single romance story, but three, and they're all beautifully told, magical, and romantic. Even though it's categorized as YA I think that any age could appreciate it if you don't mind a little bit of dark paranormal fantasy and romance.

Storm (stormgerlock) I just got a car for the first time ever, and the first thing I did was go to the library and check out audio cds so that I can listen to them while I drive.

I checked out:
Evermore (The Immortals, #1) by Alyson Noel
Eldest (Inheritance, #2) by Christopher Paolini
Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith

These are all boks that I've wanted to read but never really go around to putting on my TBR list. Eldest, I was reading in book format but I stopped after 2 weeks of consistantly reading it so I thought I would try listening.

Cindy (cindy121381) So, I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Fever series. I read the first 3 books in Karen Marie Monings highlander series and totally hated them! Like beyond hate! Has anyone read them and if I hated the highlander series, will I like the fever series?

message 5074: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Cindy wrote: "So, I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Fever series. I read the first 3 books in Karen Marie Monings highlander series and totally hated them! Like beyond hate! Has anyone read them and ..."

The two series are really very different from each other. The Fever series is very much urban fantasy - focused on the plot and world building. Mac is a little bit annoying at the beginning, but really grows as a character throughout the series. The Highlander series is focused on the romance and the couple. I would give the Fever series a chance. You might really like them if you are into UF.

message 5075: by Heather C (new)

Heather C (heathercook) | 44 comments The first 3 books of the Highlander series are the worst. The 4th Kiss of the Highlanderis much better along with the rest. They are related to the Fever Series but a completely different style of book. You just can't compare the two.

message 5076: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindy121381) I have a tendency to be an author follower. If I like one book by an author, I'll read all their books but if I don't, I move on. I did read Kiss of the Highlander but stopped at the next one, The Immortal Highlander because Adam Black annoys me. I have read and loved many of the books listed above. I just finished Lover Avenged (BDB is one of my favs!) and have started Destined for an Early Grave. I have the first book to the fever series but have not been reading it because I disliked her other books so much. I am in dire need of something new and fantastic to read! I've read the basic most popular books but I'm at a loss for something new and fantastic. Any ideas? and I will try the fever series.

message 5078: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Cindy--bear in mind while reading Darkfever that the main character is pretty annoying. I would honestly not have continued on in the series if it weren't for these boards and people telling me to continue, that Mac grows and stops being an annoying twit.

And now the Fever series is in my top 5 fave series--I LOVE it. :)

I agree with nita--highlander and fever series are very different. I know many have said that Mac was annoying in the beginning, but I never really felt that way. I love the fever series.

I looked at your shelves and I didn't see some of my favorites there:
-the Mona Lisa series, the first book is Mona Lisa Awakening
-On the Edge is a new one by Ilona Andrews
-Storm Born is the first in a great series by Richelle Mead
-I have just started reading the Shifter series by Rachel Vincent--I am starting book 2 tonight. The first book is Stray--for such a long book I read it so fast...in one night.

Hope you find something you like!

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Let me add about the Fever books that I listened to the first one and that might have added to my dislike of Mac's character in that book. Maybe if I would have read it I wouldn't have made Mac's voice so annoyingly Mary Sue in my head. :)

message 5087: by Valorie (new)

Valorie | 426 comments I just finished Eyes of Fire by C.J. England and really didn't think it was that great. I found the female character to be whiny and self depreciating and the male fae character to be mean and indecisive. He couldn't seem to decide if he wanted the girl or not, and then took out his anger about it on her. Anyway, I could only give it 3 stars. I'm now moving on to Dark Stranger (Primes, #8) by Susan Sizemore

I would consider it paranormal, but I honestly haven't seen any sci-fi romance books that are not erotica. I like sci-fi, so I'll have to check Gabriel's Ghost out. I'm more likely to read a sci-fi romance, than just a regular old romance book. I like monsters in my romance novels.
