Kate (kathrynlouwca) Could I have the spreadsheet sent to me. My email address is katesbooknook@gmail.com. Thanks!

Liz (arcanepenguin) | 285 comments I have a question about the crafts shelf. Most craft books have listings of projects, does completing a large project from a book count as reading the entire book? (I'm talking about the knitted blanket on the cover of: Cables Untangled: An Exploration of Cable Knitting) The blanket will be finished during the challenge.

Angela | 1934 comments Liz, I would say no because you are not reading the entire book.

Liz (arcanepenguin) | 285 comments That was my guess, but craft books are tricky because it's hard to read a list of patterns

Andreea (andyyy) | 117 comments I don't remember reading that it's a rule, but do we have to post a list with all the books we've read after the challenge/contest is finished?

message 107: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments No you do not.

message 108: by Andreea (new)

Andreea (andyyy) | 117 comments Can we make it a rule then or at least make a thread where people can post their (whole) list? I'm curious to see what other people have read and I doubt that somebody would read the whole list from a previous challenge.

Liz (arcanepenguin) | 285 comments I guess the only thing with posting the whole list is it might take some of the "challenge" out of any future shelf-a-thon challenges.

message 110: by Andreea (new)

Andreea (andyyy) | 117 comments I don't think so because you're not going to say which books crossed off which shelves, you can even randomize the titles so that if somebody (provided a person with the time and energy for something this silly even exists) looked through the reporting thread and then your list to see which books crossed the most shelves they wouldn't be able to figure it out. There's no way to say if I read as many books that crossed off as many shelves as I said I did, you just have to trust me, that would change if we had to post a list at the end of the challenge.

Carol (caroldias) I don´t think this is a good idea.... My spreadsheet shows which shelves the books reached, and that would be sad. :(
About trusting, well yeah, we need to trust each other.. if someone is cheating.. too bad for her/him.

Susanna (jb_slasher) The shelves for different books are almost constantly changing. What shelves you hit with a certain book a week ago might not hit the same shelves today. So I don't see why it would be such a big deal to post our book lists after the challenge round is over.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) I say create a thread, and if you WANT to post, you can... If you don't, then don't...

But you wouldn't have to say which books crossed which shelves. I've had books that only crossed one or two shelves, nobody would know which book was one of those and which crossed off really hard to touch shelves. Not to mention that if you really wanted to cheat you could just go through the profile of the people who won the challenge and see what books they read during it. It's really simple, even if people have their profile set on private, a lot of people accept friend requests from users they don't really know without thinking that they might be plotting a way to cheat the Shelf-a-Thon challenge.
It was only a suggestion. -shrug- It would have made challenge more lively, for me at least, because we could exchange opinions on the books we read at the end of the challenge.

Angela | 1934 comments I thought that the suggestions/books I want to share is where you would post books you have read. Again this is optional and people don't have to look at that thread.
