“In a dark time, the eye begins to see…”I am going to compare this quote with two books that I read that are called Frederick Douglas and Next Step. These books are connected with this quotation; by telling people that no matter how far you are from the truth, the truth is always going to come out and you are going to find it.

The quote of Theodore Roethke is related to the book of "Frederick Douglas Life" “In a dark time, the eye begins to see,..." connects with the Frederick Douglas Life because when Frederick was a slave he had been dehumanized and all that he wanted to do was to be free, to live like other people that weren’t slaves. With all the things that were happening to Frederick, he always had the hope that one day he was going to be free. The quote “In a dark time, the eye begins to see,..." is saying that when people are passing through bad moments in their life, its going to be a time that you’re going to open your eyes and you’re going to see the reality.

This quote is also related with the book "Next Step". In this book they were talking about a man, who wanted to let other people know how his life was when he was a teenager so teenagers from now don’t make the same mistakes as him. He was very bad tanagers who like to do badness and was related with drugs and friends that were giving him bad influence. At the final moment when he almost die and he was seeing the end of his live he decided to change his life by opening a center that he can help other people and children.

Both Frederick Douglas and the character from Next Step were struggling to escape from darkness, they both write a book to let other people know that even if you are in darkness you can do whatever you want to do, and also let them know how much they were suffering in their own life so people can learn from it.
