Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments My only goal this year is to make an effort to read some of the books on my bookshelf! Hopefully, I will be able to make it to at least 100 books this year too.

I started this year off with a 5 star read!!

JANUARY

1. The Help by Kathryn Stockett....I usually have trouble reading books about the mistreatment of people, but this book was fantastic and one I highly recommend!

2. The Honey Thief by Elizabeth Graver...I was disappointed with this book. Maybe part of it was because it followed such a great read.

4. Mennonite in a Little Black Dress: A Memoir of Going Home by Rhoda Janzen....not earth shattering but a good book that I can recommend!

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 654 comments I couldn't finish that many in a day with my work schedule. Wow!

Mandy (mettakaruna) Wow Cindy! You are doing great. I'm going to check out a few that you read. Any recommendations for me?

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 8. Bread Alone: A Novel by Judith R. Hendricks....enjoyed this book just not as much as her other books. I am anxious to read "The Baker's Apprentice" which picks up where this one ends.

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 654 comments I put it on my TBR!! I think I could use a book like this one! Now if I can manage to finish my other novels! ;)

Thanks Cindy for reading this. Looks really good!

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments So glad to hear you enjoyed this one Valerie! I have it written down as the first in the 'Tending Roses' series. Have you read any of the others included in this series? I always get excited when I discover a new author (new to me) that I really enjoy!
I was the same way when I read the first book by Karen White; couldn't read her books fast enough for a while!

Amanda Cindy you are on a role! I really want to read The Help it is on my TBR list. I am glad you enjoyed it :)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 10. Midwives by Chris Bohjalian....I listened to this on audio and found it to be very disturbing, but had to keep listening to find out what happened. Not sure it is one that I can recommend though the author did a great job.
