The non-use-replaceable battery doesn't matter, it seems. From an ebook reader reviewer: "I wouldn't worry about. Pretty much no tablets and ereaders have user replaceable batteries. Pocketbook is about the only one, that and the Toshiba thrive."
@ vinoth You can try the below sites for ordering from US sites. they should be better than 20north.com atleast.

A little break in conversation, thought this might help.I have been using my Nook Simple Touch for 2 days now. The reading is a pleasure. Its much better than the Kindle 2nd interface. Not at all taxing to the eyes. The 6 fonts / sizes make the read even more confortable. after 6 hours of usage it shows 91% battery remaining.
The portability is like icing on the cake. I think I am going to make my own personal library on it.
So one won't regret this buy. whether there are better ereaders out there, maybe. However doesn't make this one any less :) Happy Reading!!!
One question about the Nook Touch. The power adapter is sold separately. Has anyone bought it? Or are you using the USB cable to charge? And is a local USB-to-mains adapter available? I like the flexibility of being able to charge from the mains. And, yes, my friend in the US did get the Nook Touch for me. There were 50 people ahead of her in the line! Well worth it. $79. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
USB to mains adapter is available, and the power rating on it says 100-240V, But am using the USB-mains adapter of my mobile to charge the nook. Just charged once last week as soon as i got it, haven't done much of a reading till date...maybe it'll last me a month! :)
Ii gifted one to my brother. he seems to be enjoying and seems happy with the goods at that price point. However since it was a gift I am not sure how relaible the positive feedbakc is :)
after about a week's contemplation ...i finally bought B&N's Nook STR. waiting for the delivery....thts the hardest part :|
Just a little update on Nook :- I have charged it once since I got it, have finished 4 books on it ( 14 days ago) and well 45% battery still remains.Abhishek -- Congratulations!!!! you will love it. The wait is worth it, trust me :)
Ruchik wrote: "Any one here has tried the new kindle fire? any good? value for money?"Kindle Fire has pretty negative reviews. http://www.marco.org/2011/11/17/kindl...
@claussius : not yet..it was supposed to be delivered by 12 dec 11 but seems I am invisible to the delivery guy i had call twice to confirm tomm delivery...so crossing my fingers for tomm.
Oki finally got my nook str :) what i love is the minimalist approach of the device. I was bit impatient last night and tried to turn on the device it blankly stared back at me and told to feed itself with energy source.i thought of leaving it on charge overnite but was wondering if it would be good to battery or nt.so unplugged it.In mrng charged it for 2 hours and it came to life and tried connecting it self to the mother ship ( b&n store ).offcourse i had agree the terms n conditions n stuff.it deteced my wifi router easily here i would like to mention that if the access point is hidden it wont connect to the internet.registering the device took less than five mins.and finally i started reading the book of month the caves of steel .crisp n sharp fonts yet so easy on eyes.fast response to touch.page refresh is very good and this why i went for nook.all in all very good exp so far.still exploring more.
my husband wants me to choose between Nook Simple touch and Ipad 2. He is routing for Ipad. AM in a dilemma. I have never had an ipad of my own
Both are diff devices one is ereader other is tab.one can really njoy ipad as its a nice device to spend time and you would never even think of opening an ebook on tht :p
lord... prefer ereader addiction to ipad addiction. still, now that the idea is sown in my mind, feel like an ipad too...
now I understand the greed of the human mind as for an instance I felt like saying, get me both :D

@smitha : given that already u have 3-4 ereaders i would say that u go 4 a ipad 2 if your hubby is not so generous to buy both for u :P you can get a nook when your hubby goes to US next time.better get the ipad when he wants to buy it for you.:PP
so now you have library cum Museum!!!you will have to use some tactics to make him more generous i say..
FYI, I decided last night and my Nook is purchased and registered. Am eagerly waiting to lay my hands on it

got my Nook in my hands today. Its remarkable. Least glare of all the E Readers I have. a bit wide, though and the internal memory is only 250 MB. I am getting to know it. Haven't started reading seriously.
Hey Smitha -- how's your nook treating you? I ran into some trouble this weekend, it kept crashing. However Balance has been restored. It's working fine now.
Amazon is in India. it has entered with http://www.junglee.com. it has kindle non touch and kindle keyboard.and when compared to other sites its cheap..
I'm buying a netbook or a good tab soon. I'm a computer programmer and these Kindle or iPads won't let me tweak the machines like a pro...
FINALLY!!! I have ordered my Nook Simple Touch from www.ebay.in :)i could not find a single soul from US who was returning before informing me(of the very few ones i know). so i had to shell out a couple of thousands more :(
Smitha wrote: "Nook is good so far. I love it the best of all my E Readers (touch wood)"did you buy a cover or a screen guard for your Nook?? is it necessary??

;( i have ordered. so its done now..thanks anyway...
cover was costly - more than 2000 rs. so didn't buy one. I have a thick sleeve cover of Sony PRS 660 which snuggly fits Nooke. So I use it to carry around my Nook, and it doesn't have an attached cover. So far I haven't found it a problem. I had a screen film on (provided free with Nook) but it reduced the clarity, so I removed it. My nook is quite naked, but for the sleeve cover which I carry it in.
I remember Claussius bought a sleek cover for her nook, and if i remember correctly it costs around 500 rs (got it from the US). Try if u can get one here at the same price, else .... the next best alternative is to have a nanny weave a woollen cover :P My mom is in the process of weaving some infant clothing, so maybe i shud ask her to make one for my nook too :P
i tried and found out that the lowest price i could get it for is around Rs.1500/- (here in India). it goes beyond 2000 if i get it shipped from US... unfortunately i don't have a E Reader Garage like Col. does :D , so i will have to follow Aditya and ask somebody to make one for me :)
At last... i have got my nook. i got it yesterday evening.the first thought that occurred to me was that 'it's Small'. and the next thought was 'its damn sleek'.I charged it for 3 hours or so and switched it on and the texts which appeared was so coool. As i dont have a wifi , i have not registered my Nook yet.will have to find a cafe with wifi to do that.the only grouse is that i could not read any book on it yet so i ended up reading the Terms and Conditions of B & N.(Probably the first time ever i have read the T & C of any product :D).the size did not matter at all. it was so good reading it. i felt the buttons on the side for page turns were a bit too stiff. i switched to the swiping of the screen for page turns and it felt good.
will have to wait till the nook is registered to post about the reading experience and the 'Bookshelves'
here are a few photos of my nook
CCD Lounge had an unbelievably Fast and working Wifi[being Sarcastic :(] Thanks to Anbu, who took me to his home and let me use his wifi to Register my nook and hurrah!!!
Smitha wrote: "join the Nook Club, Vinoth."thanks..have been reading I,Robot in my nook and i have read around 80 pages or so and it has been quite interesting to read on the nook.though i still have not found the right position to hold the nook..i think it will come with time..
I am comfortable with Nook - I just hold it in my left hand and scroll the screen with the flick of my left thumb - its much more comfortable than other E Readers

On..."
yes i did.i was talking about the black flickering which happens when the e reader screen refreshes.i felt there might be some strain(based on the video i saw in a review)..thanks..
