Axy, congratulations on your brand new kindle. Please do tell Chintan whether PDF files can be read clearly on it.

well some of my friends who already vacated the hostel got the full amount i think...*hopeful* lol!
@akanksha
that's gr8...!! I have been thinking about trying some content-writing myself, was waiting 4 my exams to finish to explore the possibilities. Now I know someone who's actually doing it..

go to wink website. All info is there. I used to visit the website quite often some 5-6 months back, later decided not to buy Wink for the time being. They have brought out 2-3 versions. Be guided by Guide regarding technical details, though

well my case is opposite. i mostly read malayalam.. u cud say am comparitively new to english literature...nt xactly new, bt i havnt read as much as any of u here..

3G is hardly of any use 4 me as 3G networks hv not really evolved properly where i live..Wat about XTS? It is available for 8000+ as per the site..abt the specs i dnt knw wat to luk 4..
@smitha
I did do my share of research on it and found that DC books r supporting it, which makes me want to trust them..bt anyway am nt going to buy anything in a hurry... For nw il just take a membership in the calicut university library once i get back home and go the traditional way of reading..

But if u r using it only for reading and if the price difference with entry level Kindle is more than 2-3k only then i would suggest u to go for wink. only advantage of wink over kindle is support for ePub format
Edit:
Btw, Wink supports Malayalam, so for u, that might be a deal clincher..

thanks. anyway i am not going to rush it.. will wait and do a bit more research before i decide...
Infibeam Pi has good malayalam display. But my Pi used to get hung up often. But for the past 6 months it is working finely (touchwood)
Infibeam has recently released touchscreen version. Check on it too.

touchscreen is difficult to read. Unless you hold it in a suitable angle there is some sort of glaze

Yes you can read PDF books on kindle and its awesome.I got one for 200$(WI-FI only edition)ordered from Amazon.

But I have one doubt, this iPad has LED back-lit display for book read. Will LED also cause eye strain?
yes, for sure. I can barely read books in my husband's galaxy, though he claims he can easily read for a long time

If you are someone who likes to dab with internet games and other appliances, ipad is the one for you.
I chose E Reader because reading books was my only prerequisite and I dont usually do much socializing over the net or visit games sites.
