Guin stumbled forward through the main doors, swallowing her tears as she looked resolutely up the stairs. She felt as though there were a thousand cuts and bruises upon her skin, once she even looked at her bare arm to check. Edgar hadn't even raised his voice, let alone hit her. But what he had done, what he had said. It hurt. Her foot slipped on the first stair and her books went toppling from skinny arms onto the floor. A group of older boys sniggered, one of them with dark hair and murky eyes smiled and nudged one of his companions in the ribs and pointed. He stalked forward and Guin watched him frightfully, picking up her books he handed them to her. She drew herself into a sitting position. He shoved them into her face and they made contact painfully with her nose. He dropped the books. They laughed and left her.
"Slytherins." She growled, dragging herself to her feet. She pulled her wand and pointed it toward them but nothing left her lips. She had only been taught basics and protective spells. She had nothing. Something warm trickled from her nose and she wiped the blood away with her sleeve, eyes burning like liquid fire. "Why don't you turn around and face me, you cowards!" The boy turned. He came back. With a fierce shove she landed backwards on the stairs.
"Burn in hell, muggle-lover." He sneered. He kicked her in the ribs. She didn't get up; she knew better. Instead she just stayed there, tears creeping shamefully down her cheeks.

"You love me, right?" She asked fearfully, clutching the robes in her extended hand. A dark eagle was emblazoned on it and beneath, the letters spelled out Ravenclaw.
"Of course I do, Guin." Edgar was busily prying the fingers of her other hand from his wrist. "I'd take you with me if I could, but it is too dangerous. I am needed to repress the Death Eaters from London. I promise, I will write often." He pointed toward the bathroom and she trudged into it to change. When she came back, the train had stopped.
"I'm sorry, Guin, but Hogwarts is the absolute safest place for you to be." He mumbled at the sight of her stricken expression. He brushed the hair from her eyes."I'll be right at this stop at the end of the year. I swear it."
She smiled and nodded."I know, I know you will."

Guin felt a roiling deep in her stomach at the scene she had made when he returned to the train to go home. It had taken two professors to pull her away from it. And now she had been equally humiliated when the Slytherin boy had kicked her. I hate this worthless place. I hate everyone in it. And Edgar, he lied to me. This school isn't safe at all.

Caleb stood next to Avery. They were alone outside the castle, and both of their shoulders were heavy. "Avery..." He paused, wondering if his twin would storm away. Avery had spoken to him just enough to not let their father know something was up- not that he was very able to pay mind to them at the moment. Avery didn't run; he just looked up with slightly red-rimmed eyes and let out a sigh.

"Let's not right now, okay?" Avery in a slightly shaky voice. "Please. I just want to go be alone."

"We need to talk sometime," Caleb pleaded. "You've been avoiding it..."

"I don't care," Avery declared, a surge of anger creeping in with the desperate tiredness. Then the anger left and his shoulders slumped again. "I just... don't."

"I love you, Avery," Caleb said softly, squeezing his barely-younger brother's shoulder. "I want us to be friends again. But if you don't want to talk right now, we don't have to."

"Thank you." Avery nodded and hurried inside. Caleb stood silently on the platform for a little longer before heading in and starting toward his common room, making sure to look positive.

A grin spread quietly across Medea's face as she made her way up the steps and into Hogwarts after break. It had been quiet and relaxing, but now she was excited to see her friends. She struggled for a moment with her trunk, and finally ended up jsut draggin it behind her. She was careful with it, though; the painting of Ariadne was in there. She had shown it only to Theseus. She blinked back tears at the memory. "Where did you get this, Medea?" "A - friend of mine at school. Akrisios." A very, very long pause. "Merry Christmas, Medi," he'd said, pulling her into a hug. She wasn't sure, but she suspected that he was wiping away tears while her face was buried against his shoulder. Her grin turned into more of a grimace. Of course, her mother had hung up Ariadne's stocking as usual. That was painful. "Ok, enough," she breathed. Her smile became stubbornly cheerful.

((Still working out the fine details. Well... For A, it's depressing to be at their new house with their dad, who is obviously sorta lost emotionally, and their madre is in the hospital still... They think she's dead, but she's really just been taken and magic took care of the discrepancies. I can't decide if it was Death Eaters, the Ministry, or that rebel group, but someone made it look like she was dead and woke her up... I think. Either that, or nothing out of the norm happened and it's just normal post-home sadness. What do you think?))

((Uhm. I don't know their half of the plan, really, but in a nutshell, Caleb and Avery went home. And the day after Christmas they heard from St. Mungo's that their mum had died. I think what happened was there was a fire in that area when no wizards or healers or whatever were around to stop it, and it killed her in her sad comatose state. So then magicalness was used to make it look like it was an accident and they had the funeral and everything. But really, the Death Eaters took her to cover evidence, because it looked like the coma-thing spell was going to wear off soon.))

Kynton slouched down the hall with his hands in his pockets. He kicked a rock in front of him all the way down. He sneered at all the students around him, hugging their friends and showing off their presents from Christmas. "Christmas is stupid. It's idiotic," he hissed to himself, clenching his fists angrily. Mara still won't say anything about where she is or what she's doing. I hate her. "Merry Christmas, Kynton! I'm sorry and I miss you, but that's all I can say!" Like that's helpful. I shouldn't have even read that card. She writes the same thing every year. He missed his rock and kicked the ground, stubbing his toe. "Gah."
