Medea glanced at the Slytherin girl - Lyra, she thought. Medea decided it would be fine to speak and not ruin the image she so carefully created. It would be in keeping with her appearance. "I like Cancri as a name," she offered, looking at both Lyra and Proffessor Delphini. It's a mythological name, she thought.

"What's a fire crab?" Anni asked aloud, feeling slow-minded against the rest of her class, most of whom were crowding forward eagerly to peer at the creature, a small buzz of talk surrounding all her fellow classmates.

Medea paused, trying to recall what she had read a few hours ago in the library. She realized with a start that she was a Ravenclaw, and her brother had told her that Ravenclaws were expected to try and answer questions. She hesitantly raised her hand. "Umm, I think I know," she said quietly.

Akrisios watched it quizzically for a moment. It seemed to be regarding the class, deciding whether it could trust them or if it should defend itself. He moved forward cautiously until he was close enough to kneel next to it. He tentatively reached out a hand and stroked its jeweled shell."It's alright, you're fine. No one's going to hurt you here."He murmured. He looked up."I kind of like Cancri, but I also like Canicus. It's Scottish Gaelic for 'born of fire'."

Medea colored slightly, but quickly smoothed her face impassively. "Well, even though they're called fire crabs," she said nervously, "they're more like turtles, and obviously have jewels on their shells. They have six legs and can shoot fire from their back if threatened. They come from Fiji, I think, and they have to be protected as a species for some reason..." She trailed off awkwardly, trying to recall what she had only skimmed over.

Akrisios shrugged. "It was simply a suggestion. The compromise sounds pretty cool though. My uncle owned one, he named it after Sagittarius because that was around the time it was born. He never quite got it to stop burning guests, worked better than the best guard dogs." Akrisios smiled."The Ministry took him away though. I don't know why."

Ava slowly knelt down, catious, but curious. She was very slow and started to gently stroke the fire crab, smiling as the little eyes wandered around the class.

Medea looked at Professor Delphini, anxious for some sign to see if she had been right or not. Then she looked at the fire crab, curious. She stepped forward tentatively, reaching out to stroke it.

Akrisios shook his head."I don't see the point in hurting them, they won't hurt you if they can help it. I don't think they're edible,I wished they lived closer though. I'd like studying them. Their effect on the environment is fantastic. The plants and stuff, they enrich the soil."

Akrisios stood up and stepped back. He cocked his head and watched the crab silently, biting his lip. He looked sideways, pulling his notebook from his pocket and sketching a brief picture of the fire crab.

Sean gingerly stretched out a hand to touch the shell of the crab, stroking it gently with a small smile resting on his light face.
