Rose was wandering through the hallways, looking for Iris and Medea. She had gotten them something last minute so she was worried they wouldn't like it. As she rounded the corner, she saw Iris and Medea standing there with Avery. Unconsciously, Rose blushed.
"Oh hey, Iris and Medea! Happy Christmas! Oh, hi Avery."

"Hey Rose!" Iris greeted her warmly.

Akrisios shivered. Thart had not be the greatest meeting. He wondered what the headmaster would be like around Christmas break. "Maybe I should go to Caleb's house. Ha! Like that would ever happen. But maybe, maybe Evander..." He looked up and spotted Avery, tucking his "present" from the headmaster under his arm he trotted to him."Hey, having fun? Sorry, I don't have your present with me. I'll have to give it to you later. I'm not sure if...If you'll like it."

Medea unwrapped her present from Iris. "Oh, thanks! That's so pretty. I like it!" She wrapped the scarf around her neck. She held out Iris' present, which was wrapped in purple. "I thought it would look good with your eyes," she said with a grin.

Medea noiced Lyra and Caleb for the first time. "Hi guys! Merry Christmas! Here, I have something..." She looked inside her bag, then pulled out one green and one blue present. She handed the blue one to Lyra first.

Medea opened her present. She squealed. "Wow! Thanks Lyra!" She made a mental note to show Theseus her new jersey. He had gotten one a while ago, but she hadn't. "I would put it on, but we're in a hallway... Thanks!"

"You're welcome! The blue paint is supposed to change colors to match the sky. Like the Great Hall, kind of." As she spoke, Medea folded her jersey and put it in her bag. She still had a few presents. "Hey Caleb! I have something for you too." She held up the green box.

Avery gave a slightly forced half-smile. "Thank you Lyra. This is for you." He handed her a thin green package. He opened up the box and smiled. "These are nice. Now I'm all set for quidditch next year."

Caleb grinned. "That's really cool." He smiled at Medea. "Oh, thank you."

((Medea still needs to open her present from iris. It is a scarf that matches whatever she's wearing. For Lyra, Iris got a regular book about a girl at Hogwarts, like a fiction book? And for Caleb white chocolate dyed green and blue.))

Iris pulled her presents for Lyra and Caleb out of her bag. "I have something for you guys too."

((Sweet. Alright, Caleb got Medea a hardback set of the chronicles of Narnia that is enchanted to shrink to pocket size when you need it to. He got Iris a rainbow-colored book that changes stories as soon as you finish one, and he got Avery a small model quidditch set with teeny brooms and playing balls that act out games. He's been planning that one for a while. Avery got Caleb a signed poster from his favorite team and he got Akrisios a pot that will grow any plant you want it to.))

Caleb smiled. "Thanks." He handed Iris and Medea and Avery their packages.

"Thank you," Iris smiled and took the present. "It's beautiful," she cooed when she unwrapped it. "I love rainbows too. Thanks Caleb!"

"Don't worry, I'm sure it's better than mine," Iris peeled off the wrapping. "Ohhh, a charm bracelet! I used to have a charm bracelet...thank you bunches, Lyra, I love it."
Iris stood there and looked at her friends. She was truly happy here at school.

Medea frowned slightly. She started to glare at Avery, but abruptly made a decision. If they don't want to be friends again - well, if Avery doesn't - I can't force them to, she thought sadly. "Hi Akrisios. Um, I have a present for you," she said uncertainly.

Medea held up the set of books. "Narnia? Sweet! I haven't read these yet, but I've heard a lot about them." Her breath hitched suddenly. Mum read the first one to Ariadne while I was traveling with Dad... She shook off the thought. "Thanks Caleb!"

It's only been a few months, and I already have great friends at Hogwarts. Not just Avery anymore... though he might be my best friend, I think.

Medea grinned. "Ok, I'll pay special attention to him then. I'll start reading on the train home for the holidays." Her smile faded a little. It would be great to see her parents and Theseus especially, but she would miss her friends. "What are you all doing over break?"

Caleb paused. "Well, Avery and I are going to go home, and we'll see dad and... mum..." His eyes darkened slightly, then he brightened. "It should be fun."

Medea bit her lip, glancing away from him for half a second. That reminds me... I have research to do. She nodded. "That sounds like fun! I'm going home too."

Akrisios shifted guiltily and looked away from them."Um, I suddenly remembered something I had to do...Maybe, maybe I should go? And Medea, you didn't have to get me-I uh, I..."He blushed with frustration, his words were stumbling over each other in an effort to cover up his panic. He hadn't had anything to do with the Sheepards' mother or Ariadne, and yet he felt so wretched. He conjured their presents and shoved two small packages at Medea, and one at Avery."Um, your brother has the tickets to the game, Avery. I thought maybe you should do something as a family, I-" He looked toward the hallway he had come from."I even have an extra, if, if your mum...You know." He waved at all of them."Iris, I...I'm having trouble conjuring, but I don't remember where I put your gift. I promise I'll have it by supper." He turned and quickly made his exit.

((Akrisios was quite the busy bee...For Avery he painted a picture of his mum and dad, and for Medea...Well, she has a silk handkerchief, and a picture of Ariadne...Or the way Akrisios thinks she looks under all of the dirt and scars.))

Avery thanked Akrisios and left as well. He walked down the hallway and paused, opening it. His eyes blurred slightly as he looked at it. It had felt like so long since he'd seen his mum awake.

Medea took the two gifts from Akrisios. "Oh, thanks Akrisios," she said in slight surprise. "Wait, don't leave!" She opened the two presents from him quickly. First she held up the silk handkerchief. She swallowed, wondering if he knew what silk meant to her. Then she opened the picture. Her mouth opened, but she couldn't think of anything to say. She stared at it for ten seconds without moving. Then she sat down on the floor and closed her eyes. "Oh... Oh my gosh," she whispered. "Is it her?"
