Rose was very annoyed now. Avery seemed be as slippery as a snake. Every time she tried to go over and talk to him, he would disappear. Now this was not just a matter of supplicating Rose's OCD, it was now also about finding out if Avery didn't want to talk to her, or just didn't notice her.

Rose sat in class a little grumpily. She had her next class with Avery. In fact she had every class with Avery which made the whole situation all the more frustrating.

Akrisios released his grip. It had come over him suddenly and he had stood in the presence of it as a deer in headlights. It-his head lowered. He wasn't about to talk about it, let alone think. The basilisk had yielded control and the vision that had come after the death of Theo had deeply frightened both it and him. Lyra was hurt, she was having trouble with her breath and he could tell that she was pale and sickly. It gave him a deep pleasure to see her that way and his eyes narrowed. He wished he could have taken it further. Perhaps later. He slid past he and into the darkness to change.

Akrisios ran a towel over his head, his hair was still dripping from the showers, but apparating had its perks. He had hoped that the water could truly make him clean, but it just made him feel worse. When he returned to the common room and found Lyra absent, he deciding to check the corridor. He found her where he had left her and glanced behind him. He wanted so much just to turn around and leave...He stepped forward."Lyra...I hurt you?"

He squatted down in front of her and his eyes trailed along the bottom of the wall."Hmmm...I don't have my wand. It isn't permitted where I'll be going. Maybe I can get you to the infirmary? Perhaps the common room would suffice."

Akrisios's face flashed with annoyance, but he bit back a cruel retort."Whatever, then I'll get Caleb to help you. I can't waste my time with it."

Akrisios curled his lip in disgust and stepped back."Well his help and pity is about all you're going to receive. Fine, sit there. Suffer. I don't have time for this nonsense."

Akrisios raised an eyebrow, the shadow of a weary smirk on his face."Oh, but I believe it is. Bye, Lyra." He waved halfheartedly and began a slow walk down the hallway.

He smiled."Too bad. It should have done more. You're lucky...I mean. Okay then." He bent over and lifted her to her feet."Ready?"

Akrisios's eyes darkened and his hands tightened on her arms."Yeah. Sure."

Medea quietly walked into the library. She set her bag down at an empty table, then stared at the endless shelves. Where would a book on magical fires be? A familiar face caught her eye as she scanned the rows. "Hey Iris!" she whisper-called.

Rose watched Mede and Iris, obviously good friends. She wished her sister was here, she was Rose's best friend. She would have the skill and courage to finally ask Avery what he was reading. And she would help Rose not feel like a weirdo for eating freakish amounts of food.

Iris saw a girl watching, and she remembered her from class. She smiled and gave a small wave.

Rose looked up. Iris was waving to her. She waved back happily at this small bit of inclusion.

She looks lonely, Iris thought, so she beckoned her to come over.

Rose watched as Iris beckoned her over. She beamed. Someone actually wanted to be friends with her here! Before Hogwarts, Rose had been a bit of an outcast for her high intelligence and air of weirdness. No one was mean to outright, but Rose never really had any close friends.
Still beaming Rose walked over to Iris and Medea and sat down. "Hey, what's up? I'm Rose."

"I'm Iris," she smiled.

Akrisios's mouth was set in a grim line, his face edged with cold determination. He ignored her, it was the best he could do right now. He took one hand and moved it to her lower back, flipping her up so he could cradle her in his arms. It was a very awkward position; she wasn't much shorter than himself but she didn't weigh too much. It was lessened also by the adrenaline that coursed like liquid fire through his veins. He was frightened by his feelings, frightened more so by the impending conversation with the Dark Lord. He smiled sheepishly through his bangs."Um, sorry Lyra. It would be too slow just to let you walk. I hope you don't mind too much. Does it hurt?"

"Yea," Iris smiled. "So, do you like it here?"
