((Hello! I'm glad this rp in moving again.))
Medea grinned back, satisfied. "Well, let's go!" She checked her bag to make sure she had her DADA stuff.

((Haha!))
Nick raised an eyebrow slightly. "I am. I'm a muggleborn as well, it's never been a disadvantage for me. Natural talent isn't hereditary."
Caleb nodded and smiled slightly as they walked quickly toward the classroom.
Avery followed Medea more closely, genuinely happy.

Medea hummed under her breath as the group walked. "So which way's the DADA classroom? Sorry I've been using you as a map," she grinned.
Caleb laughed slightly. "It's fine. This way, I think."
Nick nodded. "Yes, I am." He thought for a moment. "Well, it was certainly different to not know everything the purebloods or even halfbloods did, but not too much harder at all. Honestly? For all their prior education, most of them are just as lost the first days as everyone else."

"This does look a little familiar," Medea said doubtfully as she looked around. "You know what, I'll just follow you."
Nick frowned slightly at her changing tone, wondering what had lead to the bitterness there. "Well," he said, "before I attended Hogwarts I did not do much traveling, no. And as to being lost? It depends on the individual. I knew students of all bloods that were completely lost, and some that seemed totally confident."

((Nah, you're in time. They haven't actually gone to the owlery yet."
"No idea," Avery and Caleb said together. Caleb looked amused while Avery appeared more confused.
"Gryffindor," Nick said simply with a shrug. "Actually, I'm the head of Gryffindor house." He tilted his head. "Why are you apologizing?"

"I would think that DADA would be one of the funnest classes," Medea said thoughtfully. "And Charms seems like it should be a fun class. I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer to judge."
Nick nodded slightly. "Your apology is appreciated, but not necessary." He leaned back onto his hands slightly. "Slytherins in general aren't always the most accepting. I am glad you've found friends, they always make things easier."

((Haha. It'll be fun.))
Avery smiled. "I am excited for that one. And I really can't wait for flying."
Professor Hayden nodded with a slightly amused look. "I know. I've met many Slytherins who have been very nice. And Gryffindors who haven't been. It depends on the individual, not the house."

Medea made a face. "I'm so NOT excited for Flying. I cannot fly at all. It'll be so embarrassing."
Caleb shook his head ruefully. "I can't say I'm all that excited either." He shot Avery an apologetic glance. "Flying's great and all, but after the... incident last year, it hasn't been my favorite activity."
Avery had to stifle a laugh at that particular memory, something that surprised him. He found he missed talking with his brother this way.

Avery looked back at her with a grin.
Caleb groaned slightly. "Well," he paused. "Let's just say my friend's broomstick had a tendency to wig out at high altitudes and leave it at that."
Avery laughed. "You can't just leave it hanging there," he said mock-accusingly.

Caleb pinched the bridge of his nose briefly and sighed in surrender. "I had this friend in Australia, her name was Alex. They lived close to the edge of town so we'd go fly in the allotted area in the outback a lot." He shot a grin at Avery. "And Avery went with Summer." He shook his head an continued. "Well, one day we were going to go but I'd forgotten my broom, so we went digging around for a spare. The one we found looked fine. And it acted fine until we went up high to do a dive. Then... It started going really fast and doing these weird loops. I fell off and she had to catch me." His face was red as he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

Iris giggled, but didn't want to upset Caleb. "Well, at least you didn't get hurt," she said brightly. "Or did you?"
"Would you classify yourself as one of those people?" Hayden clarified, wondering as he did if it was an offensive question.
((Haha! That is weird! Oh, gee, that sounds like fun. I've only read the first few pages, I don't turn 15 till mid-August. It's really, really boring from what I read.))
Professor Hayden nodded slightly. "You do not seem to fit the Slytherin stereotype," he agreed. "Not from what I've seen, which admittedly isn't much."
Professor Hayden nodded slightly. "You do not seem to fit the Slytherin stereotype," he agreed. "Not from what I've seen, which admittedly isn't much."
Professor Hayden grinned slightly. "Well. It's only the second lesson, but I thought we might do a brief overview on defensive spells. That's always a good thing to know. And I'd love to have your help for the demonstration part."
((Wow! Good luck studying... I hope you pass. Temps? Sorry, I am unfamiliar with driving vernacular...))
((Ohh. Okay. In my state you can take the drivers' handbook test as soon as you're fifteen and then get a drivers' permit. At least, I think that's how it works. The 40 hours of driving are the same. Yeah, that is crazy! I'm still fourteen... But I'm young for my grade.))
((Tenth, yes. But my birthday is right before the cutoff, most of my friends are older than me. Yes, it does feel weird! I know we were "technically" in High School already, but I, at least, wasn't at the actual high school building. Haha, I am going to feel very short.))
Professor Hayden grinned. "You have to start somewhere, and Protego is a good spell." He checked the time. "Soon, I hope. I would not wish to start with almost no one present."
((I see. Yeah, it can be odd. My birthday is only... eight days before school usually starts. Haha! I'm excited though, tenth grade will be fun. So she's a grade ahead, technically? Interesting.))
((I see... Yeah, that is never good. Are you in Honors, then?))
Hayden didn't catch what she said, but he merely shrugged. "Well, I will continue to set up while we wait. Hopefully they are not too late."

((Wow. That's cool, I'm glad for you! I'm taking Honors World Civilizations for social studies. Honors U.S. history sounds fun too!))
Caleb checked the time a little anxiously, wanting to hurry up. He wanted to talk to Lyra before class. He flushed slightly but brushed it off with a general grin.
Hayden nodded absently as he wrote down several things on the whiteboard (which he much preferred to chalkboards) and set up a few models.

((I see. That's different... We have them from seventh up. But I wasn't in school until ninth, so it doesn't really matter to me.))
Caleb started subconsciously walking slightly faster.
((I have to go... Hopefully Alyssa is here tomorrow!))

Avery shrugged. "I don't know," he admitted, smiling back. He looked at Caleb. "Have you been writing them?"
"Who, our cousins?" Caleb asked. "Yeah, every once in a while."

Medea frowned in confusion, then her face went red with chagrin. Oh... cousins? Those girls were cousins, not friends?
Avery noticed Medea's face turn red and frowned in confusion.
Caleb, however, thought he probably knew what Medea had been thinking and smiled to himself. How cute.
