Ani danced down the hall... and found Brenda lying on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. Her eyes widened to enormous proportions. "Brenda?" She hurried to the girl's side, kneeling beside her. "Brenda?" Something was very wrong...
Ani touched Brenda's shoulder, leaning down towards her, her own face filled with concern. "Brenda? Brenda can you hear me? What's wrong?"

Ani's heart sunk. "Brenda..." She held out a hand to the girl, her eyes horribly sad. "Come on, sit up. We can... talk, okay?"

Ani slowly moved to sit beside the girl. Cautiously, she slipped an arm around Brenda's shoulders, gently hugging her. "What do you mean?"

"My parents... don't exist... or do... I don't know."

((Haha, I love you Autumn!))
Ani hugged Brenda, simply offering her love and waiting for Brenda to cry it out.
Ani hugged Brenda, simply offering her love and waiting for Brenda to cry it out.

Ani turned away at that, trying not to think of it, but immediately feeling the itching sensation of blood drying on her hands. She closed her eyes, and her chest heaved for a moment as she fought for control of her emotions. "No."

He tried to go un-noticed when her went on all fours to retrieve his wand, but Brenda wouldn't let him.
"You..."

Brenda stood, as a scared expression played across Darin's pale face, "The boy from the lake." On the bright side, Brenda was emotionally stable and was 100% back to green.

Slowly, Brenda nodded.
"Well, Brenda, I'm sorry..." he pointed to her chin, "lemme... lemme get that for you." Before Brenda could refuse or move, Darin had gotten out his wand and said, "Episkey."

"Do the bruises make me look intimidating?" he nodded towards Ani.

Brenda's eyebrows raised so now he magically has etiquette?
Ani blinked at him, frozen. She wasn't shy with Brenda anymore, but this boy--He seemed... different. So very different. "You don't really." She lied, but that was beside the point. "It's- it's okay."

Ani shook her head, further retreating into the ball she had curled herself up into. "I'm sorry, I don't even know you." It was her way of saying she didn't trust him.

Brenda sat next to Ani, "Don't let Darin scare you," she smiled and brushed a stray tendril of hair from Ani's face.
Ani frowned, biting down on her bottom lip. She glanced at Brenda, her eyes wide with thought. Nodding at the girl's words, she ran after Darin. "I'm sorry, please wait!"
"I'm sorry," Ani blurted, tripping over her words. "I really didn't mean to offend you, honest."
Ani looked up at the boy's face, mildly startled, and found nothing but kindness. Her gaze turned to his outstretched hand, and back to his face. "...I suppose so." Her face split into a shy smile as she shook his proffered hand.

In his head, Darin did a little celebratory dance, I've got a friend! he thought, "Excellent."

Brenda thought it would be polite to allow Ani to introduce herself.
((Apparently I've spelled Ani's name with two n's (Anni) in her profile. Which makes sense, what with her name being Anniya and all... Changing spelling to Aniya to keep Ani.))
Ani grinned slightly at the boy's blush. It was cute. "My name's Ani, I'm in Gryffindor. What house are you in?"
Ani grinned slightly at the boy's blush. It was cute. "My name's Ani, I'm in Gryffindor. What house are you in?"

No! She can't be in Gryffindor! Arghh!, he thought, but he easily managed to hide his thoughts and kindly said, "Slytherin, but the hat said I was in a tie with it and Hufflepuff. I chose Slytherin 'cuz I know my mother and father would disown me if I wasn't in Slytherin."

{My translation may be off, I did the Dutch translation from memory}
Brenda knew of the rivalry between the Slytherin and Gryffindor houses, and decided to step in, "Good idea... we need to find a place semi-private that we can all go to." As she always did when thinking, Brenda begun to pace. When she turned around the third time, the wall to her right changed to a door.
"What..?" she noticed an inscription on the door it read, U kunt hier alleen invoeren als je moet, en als je moet, vindt u in wat u zoekt.
"That's Dutch," she said, "It means... 'You can enter only if you need to... and if you need to, see... what you need," she paused, "I think."

"What do reckon's in there?" asked Darin.
Unfortunately, her thoughts were interrupted by a pesky puddle she slipped on. Her arms extended to try and save herself from the fall, but they too slipped and she landed on her face. She cut her chin, cut her chin so badly it would scar if she wasn't a metamorphmagus.
Brenda started crying and everything turned blood red. Her hair, her eyes, her lips, her nails... everything but her wet white dress, tears, and skin was scarlet.
And then it happened. Pain happened.
Everything flooded to her at once. The floodgates were broken and she was screaming in agony. To have one's parents dead is one thing, but to not know if they have yet to meet their demise or have already met it is another thing. To not know if your parents love you. To not know if they are good people or bad people. To not know was too much.
