“I like that idea,” Iris nodded. She didn’t have a better one. She’d almost forgotten why they were doing this in the first place, it felt like she’d gone through about eight different conversations with Kynton since the beginning of the day, but she felt like it had something to do with him actually wanting to meet them. Iris got the feeling he couldn’t wait to get away again. Why do I always do that to people? I’m so annoying. I can’t like an eleven-year-old with my stupid squeaky voice and my stupid skipping and my stupid pretending to be happy. Wow, I don’t even like me now.

She ended her mental dialogue with a Look at you, you can’t even shut up in your own head, and suggested beginning with Ravenclaw. It was the first house to pop into her mind; she was Ravenclaw, afterall.

Kynton shrugged. "What friends were we looking for anyway? I forgot." His voice was derisive, but his face was a little wistful. But only a little. What would it be like to have friends? People who enjoyed your company and whose company you enjoyed? He mentally shook himself. He'd had friends before, years ago. Mara, he thought with a pang. And friends weren't all that great. He decided he didn't envy Iris or Tristin at all.

"Well, there was Medea that I was going to introduce you to, since you said you didn't know any Ravenclaws except for me," she paused. Just for a moment "And apparently Tristin." Her purple eyes flicked to Kynton before looking back to Kynton. "And then it somehow evolved to a quest for Caleb or Lyra or Avery too."

"That's a lot of names. I won't remember them all," Kynton complained.

"Well I'll just keep reminding you," Iris shrugged. "Just ask when you forget."

Kynton snorted. "Right. I'll keep that in mind if I feel the need to remember their names."

Iris definitely thought that was a bad idea. Her eyes flashed to Kynton, concerned he might react badly. Countless times had he snapped at her in the last few...hours? She already knew he could be slightly touchy. Iris suspected he might take offense.

Kynton glared at Tristin. "Oh, sorry, I forgot you were both Ravenclaws and that makes you so... smart." He laid a heavy dose of sarcasm on the last word. "Don't worry, it's not too many. I can keep their names straight if I want."

"I never said it was hard for me," Kynton snapped. "I was just saying it was inconvenient." He balled his fists for a second, then let out a deep breath. He didn't want a repeat of their earlier conflict. "Fine. Whatever," he mumbled.

"Well, I don't find myself particularly intelligent," Iris continued on the subject, immediately regretting not changing it. In a nervous attempt at fixing things, she blurted out a bunch of nonsense without much thinking. "I'm more of a hardworker. Not quite sure why I was stuck in Ravenclaw, honestly." She was just spilling her insecurities all over the place. Iris stuck a hand over her mouth before she could further embarrass herself.

Kynton snorted. "Hardworker? Maybe you belong in Hufflepuff. I'm 100% pureblood so I should be a Slytherin.... but nothing's wrong with Hufflepuff either." He glared at them, daring them to contradict him and insult his House.

"No, there isn't," Iris nodded, letting her hand fall back down to her side. It dangled awkwardly, so she clasped her hands and twisted her fingers together. "I suppose I should be in Hufflepuff."

"Yeah. Or, I mean.... supposedly the Sorting Hat always knows best." Kynton cleared his throat.

Kynton clenched his teeth, trying to cover up his confusion with aggression. Did he just insult my intelligence or what I said? But... it sounded like a compliment at the end. He snorted to himself. Nah, it's just a bunch of codswallop. All that fancy, sappy stuff he just said doesn't mean anything. He shrugged. "Whatever you say."

"That's true. People are very complex and they can't be defined by just 'intelligence' or just 'bravery' or just whatever," Iris nodded. "There's more to a person than that."

Iris wasn't sure if that was an insult or not. She ignored it. Every comment someone makes isn't just about you, okay, Iris? Instead of replying she just nodded. Just barely, almost unnoticeably.

Kynton sighed. This was getting boring. Wait, it already was boring. He pulled his wand out of his pocket, twirled it once, and stuck it back in. "Yeah."

From commentary, Iris casually abstained. She preferred to twiddle her thumbs, watching the light's reflection off the sparkles of her nail polish. Round and round they went.

Kynton looked at Tristin suspiciously. "Is there some implication in what you're saying?" He was a little afraid that Tristin was insulting him subtlely. Then he'd have to pick a fight to save face, and he really wasn't in the mood to fight with them again. At least, that was how he told it to himself.

((LITTLEDOPLHIN!!!! Ugh, that sucks. I have finals next week and I'll check out during my study hall, hopefully, so I don't have to sit there for 2 hours. Actually, my regular study hall is an hour and a half.))

"Oh. Well, alright then." He was a little tired of the awkward silences, but Kynton wasn't sure what else to say. And he didn't want to start another arguement. Not in the mood. "So Tristin... I forgot your last name."

Iris sighed very, very quietly, so quietly that even she could barely hear herself. Tristin and his offhanded indiffrence were hitting it off with Kynton and his anger. This was always happening to her. Was she so terribly boring? She always felt like she was just awkwardly there, and terribly insignificant. No, Iris told herself. You've just grown accustomed to feeling that way since you were with Mum and Dad over the holiday. Stop being so insecure. Nobody means anything against you, they're just having a conversation, for heaven's sake. The entire world really isn't about you, you know. In fact, Iris, why don't you just get over yourself. Why was she always mentally berating herself? Iris sighed again, clasping her hands more tightly when she realized they could hear her.

Kynton shook his head quickly. "Don't," he said forcefully. "I... don't care for my last name. I go by Kynton and Kynton only, Baelin." He took a deep breath to calm down. He glanced at Iris. "Your last name is Love, right?" He felt a little awkward saying that.

Iris looked up from her feet. Her face slipped into a smile, involuntary; but not bad, necessarily. "It is," she nodded at Kynton, carefully glancing away from him. As her eyes averted themselves ahead, she noticed the boys had the same blond hair.

"Mmm," Kynton said, trying to convey a lack of interest. Because I'm not interested at all. In them. Not just her. He sighed again.

Iris laughed, looking up. "I can't say I have much experience with little bear cubs." The one time she'd gone camping had been completely void of any wildlife.

Kynton fumed silently for a moment, trying to think of a response. One that wouldn't spark another fight - he wasn't in the mood for that, he kept telling himself. "Well.... disregarding the origins and bearness of my last name, I still don't want it used."

Iris held her breath, hoping they would make a deal. She didn't like arguments, even minor ones. Happy getting along was a thrilling prospect indeed.

Kynton rolled his eyes as he extended his hand and briefly shook Tristin's. He made sure to grip it roughly. "Fine, deal. Whatever."

Iris drew a blank. She bit her lip in thought, eyebrows furrowing. Then, almost as if someone had checked the posts on page 136, realization dawned upon Iris. Her purple eyes glowed with her smile. "Ravenclaw," she said quickly.

Iris watched Kynton as he spoke. He had a way of appearing to be fine while he was actually speaking, but when he finished, his face contorted itself into some manner of scowling once again, almost as if he wasn’t actually terribly grumpy. He hadn’t done it this time, but Iris had notice it more than once. It made her want to please him, to see him finish one sentence without a frown. If only she knew how. “I’ll see what I can do.” Her words had more than one meaning.

Kynton raised one eyebrow and looked at her skeptically. "Whatever," he said with an emphasized eyeroll. "So which way is it?"

"Err," Iris looked around, attempting to re-familiarize herself with her surroundings, because she hadn't actually been sure where she'd been going for the past...for a while now. Taking note of one of the portraits, Iris smiled, realizing where they were. "We'll take a left at the end of the hall right there."

((HALLO MANDY!!! Um, I can tell you what's happening presently, but you'll need somebody else to tell you about, like, Lyra and Akrisios because they have this very long history that I am not the expert on :P OKAY! LET'S BEGIN!

First of all, this is the first day back since the winter holiday. It's just past dinner. And I suppose you should know that this is a slow moving roleplay. It's been the first day back since...August. Hahaha. But soon, my lovely, soon.

Iris, Kynton, and Tristin are looking for Iris's buddios who are Medea, Lyra, Caleb, and Avery. At first it was just Iris and Kynton *coughwhokindalikesIriscough* and then Tristin came around and he was all like "Ahhh I'm Tristin" and he made Kynton all angry-like and since Kynton has this past with his family, he's all bitter and kind of mean. Then he said something about Iris and Tristin was all like "STFU, NERD" so Kynton stormed away, angry-like. But Tristin knew deep down inside of him that Kynton kind of wants friendies so he was like "Oh, Kynton, come back" and Kynton was like "Allllll riighhttt," with false acquiesce. Now they're just...walking. And talking. AT THE SAME TIME. Oh, and this is like the first day they've all met each other so YEA.

Lyra and Akrisios are in the Room of Requirement. I previously told someone they were having a pow wow, so yea. They're having a pow wow. During this pow wow, Akrisios, an animagus, has kindly informed Lyra that he is taking this potion to control the basilisk inside of him so he doesn't attack her again. And...I'm not really sure what else be happenin' 'round there so you'd best get askin' to the other people. OH AND BAI THE WAY. Lyra and Akrisios kinda...have a...thing. Bwahaha. Akrisios also likes Anni and Iris and somebody else THAT NOBODY WILL TELL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <~~Rage Requiring Plethoric Exclamation Points OH AGAIN. And Caleb likes Lyra. I'm not sure if she likes him...I haven't read her profile since July -_-

Avery and Medea are outside. Talking about...Quidditch? Something. I forget.

Caleb is in the Slytherin Common Room. BTW his twin is Avery in Gryffindor. They are not besties. I'm not sure if their relationship has been better recently, though.

Anni and the twins Milly and Lucy are in the Gryffindor Common Room. Being cool like the cool cats they are.

Another character is Sean, who is in Gryffindor. He is Anni's twin.

Yea, that's a lot of stuff to take in. Sorry 'bout that. And you're probably not on anymore. 'Cause that kind of took a really long time...

Mandy shot through the corridors with a large heavy bag of schoolbooks. She was very excited and very nervous. Stupid spattergroit had kept her from going to Hogwarts like all the other first years, and so she was late in the yearShe groaned and stopped speed walking. "This corridor looks like all the others..." Her voice trailed. I'm lost, gosh darnit. Where is that common room!?

((Lol a bunch of people came late. Drizzle, Milly, Lucy and Mandy. I also forgot Guin, Pudding's other character. She's a Ravenclaw. Oh, and I love you too! :D P.S. They aren't in class. Class doesn't start until tomorrow. In RP time, that is.))

Drizzle saw another girl his age as he was searching the castle for his common room. He smiled slightly at her, as she was coming in his direction.

Drizzle took her extended hand and shook it, smiling again. "I'm Drizzle. It's nice to meet you to. Are you looking for the Gryffindor Common Room?"

((It finally sank in that Drizzle is a really idiotic name. I'm laughing, imagining someone going through with a name liek that.))
