Great list, Amber. Christina Dodd is such a good writer, but she doesn't seem to get much buzz. Her heroines are smoking hot, IMHO.

I started to read a Christina Dodd book and could not get into it for the life of me...I read three chapters and put it away...just didn't move enough for me!

Her older, medieval books are a bit slow. Her governess brides series is probably a better place to start. She's autobuy for me, but I agree that her older books are not as enthralling.
What can you amazing ladies tell me about Jane Feathers? There are several of her pb for .50cents each at the library.Danielle, thank you for the Dodd recommend. I want to read her, I just need a better place to start. I'll look into Governess Brides. Thanks!
Has Judith McNaught been brought up yet? Someone gave me a few of her books (Once and Always, A Kingdom of Dreams, and Something Wonderful) , but I'm hesitant to begin them because their summaries don't intrigue me.What do y'all think?
A Kingdom of Dreams is one of my favs. The heroine is kidnapped and fights fights fights. There are some humorous parts as well.
Bekah wrote: "A Kingdom of Dreams is one of my favs. The heroine is kidnapped and fights fights fights. There are some humorous parts as well. "Cool. I'll start with that one, then. Thanks!
I've heard wonderful things about Kingdom of Dreams. I'm going to read that one... HEY!!! It's perfect for my Of The Royal Line book challenge!!! Thanks for mentioning it!
Sometimes book descriptions don't do a book justice. I really loved McNaught's books.I read Lynsay Sands' book The Switch. A very fun read. Reminded me a little of the Wallflowers. Very funny. About identical twin sisters who decide to escape from their uncle and potential husbands (one a wife beater, the other rather large and older). They decide the best way to proceed is to have one of them dress as a boy and attempt to ask their uncle on their mom's side for help. While escaping they are seen by a man who decides to take them under his wing. By having one pretend to be a boy all sorts of hilarious situations are created. I could hardly stop laughing. Perhaps not as steamy as Kleypas, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe a touch more like Julia Quinn's books.

YW, Dhestiny.
I think the Dodd book I started reading was Castles in the Air...I just couldn't get into it and I sold that one a a couple others on ebay.....
Heidi wrote: "I think the Dodd book I started reading was Castles in the Air...I just couldn't get into it and I sold that one a a couple others on ebay....."I was able to finish it, but it made me kind of hesitant to buy any more of her books. Though I do have Candle in the Window on my bookshelf.
I had that one too and sold it. I just didn;t like her style.....to slow and didn;t hold my interest. About 15 pages in, I knew wit wasn't for me...tried to keep going but after chapter 3...I was done.

I might go that route next time I want to give her a shot.
Bekah wrote: "I'm thinking about starting the Night Huntress sereis(?) with Bones. How much am I going to wanna read book 2? Should I just get it right away or wait?Gotta gift certificate --- must buy more ..."
yes have book 2 on hand. Bones is yummy luv.
Thanks Kelly! I figured...the reviews were quite good! I went ahead and ordered the first two...Can't wait!
Just started reading Tracy Ann Warren...My Fair Mistress (first one of a series)...it's an 'ok' read so far.
Re-read them all over again .. LOL
Just started reading Meredith Duran's Bound by your Touch...really like her witty writing style...refreshing! Anybody else read her?
Me, Me! I discovered her last year and love her witty writing style, too. She's a fantastic storyteller and a wonderful new "face" in the genre!
Good to know Anne! She is different from LK but good in her own way...Rachael, I've read and re-read LK esp the Travis series...can't wait for her new stuff!
I so wish Lk would learn to write faster! LOl, It's pure torture waiting for new books of hers to come out!
Bekah wrote: "A Kingdom of Dreams is one of my favs. The heroine is kidnapped and fights fights fights. There are some humorous parts as well. "OMG!!! That is my absolute FAVORITE book of all time!! With McNaught's "Whitney my love as a VERY close second. OMG.... EVERYBODY should read that series! "Westmoreland" series!! Another fantastic one I read about a month or so ago was "Something Wonderful" and it blew me away as well. Just wonderful
Another author that everyone should check out is Tracy Ann Warren. Her books are PHENOMENAL!! I am head over heels for her "Trap" series, the first trilogy she wrote, however I've read every single one of her books and have never been disappointed so, y'all should definitely check her out!
Christine wrote: "Has Judith McNaught been brought up yet? Someone gave me a few of her books (Once and Always, A Kingdom of Dreams, and Something Wonderful) , but I'm hesitant to begin them because their summaries ..."WONDERFUL BOOKS!! You should DEFINITELY read them!
is my all time favorite book! You should read that entire series. The books that follow that one are
and
. All are fantastic. And I just finished reading
recently and it was AMAZING! She's a fantastic author. Do not deprive yourself the pleasure!! I promise you won't be sorry!
Going through a big Julia Quinn phase right now...her writing is light, romantic, funny...reminiscent of LK but different.Harry R fans, I just reread Tempt me at Twilight...sighhhh!
Is Something Wonderful as good as Kingdom of Dreams? Is it as emotionally intense as Whitney? I read Westmorelands back to back and it was a very emotional series.
Well, as I've mentioned, "Kingdom of Dreams" is my all time favorite so I can't imagine any other book topping it, however, I did extremely enjoy "Something Wonderful" It was wonderfully frustrating and it is only too easy to fall in love with the new hero and heroine. This is what I wrote as a review:Absolutely "Something Wonderful" to read!!! I enjoyed every moment of reading this novel. Once again, Judith McNaught does it! Another fantabulous book to add to the others. It was very easy to fall in love with Jordon and Alexander. Their character development is sensational and it's so easy to feel what the characters are feeling. The plot and storyline kept me on the edge of my seat throughout its entirety. They have their ups and downs that keep the reader on their toes and all together its a completely wonderful book. I absolutely adored it!
I hope I helped! You should definitely read it. I'm sure you'll love it. It would be really hard not to! =]

Haha, yeah, sorry, I kinda get carried away when it comes to that book. I guess I just don't want anyone to miss out on it. Lol.

Can someone tell me what an Advanced Readers Copy is, exactly? Why is it advanced? Does it have a cover like the actual book? Is it edited?I just won one and am sooooooooooooooooo excited I can hardly type!!!! I don't know what to expect, can anyone tell me?
ARCs are "advanced", because they are typically sent out to reviewers in advance of the book's release to the general public. How ARCs look can vary. Some look like the finished product, while others may not even be bound. Most are not the final edited draft though, so be prepared for lots of typos.I got several ARCs last year, and I just received an e-book ARC of the HR, Guise of a Gentleman by Donna Hatch a few days ago. Yesterday, I was also offered another e-book ARC of the sci-fi/fantasy romance, Red Leopard by Vijaya Schartz. Neither are even up on GR yet.
What book did you get, Dhestiny?
Julie (Mom2lnb) wrote: "AWhat book did you get, Dhestiny? ."I won Knight of Passion by Margaret Mallory. I'm very, very excited! The covers are so beautiful!

I read Julie Quinn's first Bridgerton book, The Duke and I, this weekend. It was excellent, I thought. It started out fairly light and lighthearted but the characters had a lot of depth to them.I'm on Viscount Who Loves Me now. Oh good, another big series to get into.
Sus, yes! I love the Bridgertons! The first 4 books are lighter, in my opinion. Then books 5 and 6 are deeper, and so, so good! I haven't read the last 2 as I've been busy reading for challenges, etc. But soon... very soon...
Great recommendations, I've added several to my TBR list!I'm currently reading The Dark Highlander(#5) by Karen Marie Moning. I love this series!

Heidi, The Clayborne Brides is very good, but it's a let down after For the Roses. If you're a big Clayborne fan, you should read it.
