Yeah, I keep putting it off. I tend to save "stand alones' til I'm desperately waiting for the next book in whatever series I'm reading to come out.

I have Proof of Seduction and I am now anxious to read it after hearing you liked the author in that anthology. I am not very good about giving authors second chances with boo..."
--Ally, thanks for the encouragement to give LLG's newer books a try.
Dhestiny and Ally, I hope you enjoy Proof by Seduction. I'm excited to read it.

Book 1 - Rules of Seductions – Madeline Hunter
Book 1 - Slightly Married - Mary Balogh
Book 1 – Huxtable Series – First Comes Marriage – Mary Balogh
Hannah Howell Stand Alones -
Highland Hearts (2002)
Highland Wolf (2007)
Highland Sinner (2008)
If He's Wicked (2009)
If He's Sinful (2009)
Does anyone have any input on these? Are Howell's Highlanders PNR? I don't care for PNR Highlanders.

Dhestiny, I've read and enjoyed these HH books:
..."
Highland Bride
Beauty and the Beast
Highland Wedding
My Valiant Knight
HH is not terribly steamy, but she writes a very good, intense romance. The history seems authentic to me (I'm a stickler for that as much as possible). I hope you enjoy her.
Highland Bride and Wedding sort of reminded me of the Garwood historical with the perky, sweet heroine and the reluctant hero.

Excellent! Thank you, Danielle!!!

I'm with Bean on Lorraine Heath's Scoundrels of St. James series. I just read and loved Between the Devil and Desire and it reminded me a teeny bit of LK's Dreaming of You, mostly 'cause the hero Jack Dodger had similar beginnings/background as Derek Craven.

This is my review if anyone is considering this book.

(Is it awful to post links to your own reviews? I always feel weird when I do it. LOL)
I have this book and plan to read it next!

I don't think you'll be disappointed. While it's not "cry your eyes out dark," it's not a lighthearted romance novel, either.

I highly recommend Judith McNaught’s historicals. They were written in the 90s. Judith McNaught was always my No. 1 Historical Romance author since I was a teen for her memorable characters. I thought no one could top her and then I found Lisa Kleypas. McNaught isn’t as hot as Kleypas though.
These books should be read together, in this order:
Westmoreland Dynasty Saga:
- A Kingdom of Dreams (Royce Westmoreland and Jennifer Merrick - this is set in medieval times and the rest are all during the Victorian period)
- Whitney, My Love (Clayton Westmoreland and Whitney Stone)
- Until You (Stephen Westmoreland and Sheridan Bromleigh)
- "Miracles" (Nicholas DuVille's story) which can be found in two different anthologies - A HOLIDAY OF LOVE (with Jill Barnett, Jude Deveraux, Arnette Lamb) OR also found in SIMPLE GIFTS (with Jude Deveraux)
Sequels series:
(Not sure why it's called that but that's what they call it on wikipedia, maybe because they are considered "Sequels"? since Whitney My Love was her first novel and these are set in the same period?)
- Once and Always (Jason Fielding and Victoria Seaton - only real tie to the next two books is the secondary character of Roddy Carstairs, does not really need to be read before the next two)
- Something Wonderful (Jordan Townsende and Alexandra Lawrence - should be read before Almost Heaven as JT and AL appear as secondary characters in AH)
- Almost Heaven (Ian Thornton and Elizabeth Cameron)
The above 3 are my personal all-time fave McNaught books. I just adore Jason Fielding, Jordan Townsende and Ian Thornton. Ian Thornton is my fave McNaught hero, which makes Almost Heaven my fave McNaught book (I’ve re-read this one and Something Wonderful, the most). I’ve loved Ian for what seems like forever now. I have a soft spot for the hero whose own worst enemy is himself, and it takes love to heal him and break down his defences. *sighs* Or maybe I just have a thing for men named Thornton, as in, I also adore John Thornton from the BBC miniseries North and South, based on the novel by Elizabeth Gaskell. ^_^ I also highly recommend this miniseries.
I did enjoy McNaught’s Contemporaries but LOVE her historicals the best. For her Contemporary I loved Paradise and Perfect and also the Foster Saga.
Here's the wiki link which has a list of her books that are connected.

No, it's not, Dhestiny. Isn't the whole point of being on goodreads to share our thoughts on books we've read and to see what others think about them, too? And to recommend books to each other? I love reading your reviews! You write so eloquently.
Though, I must admit that I skimmed your review of The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie, as I didn't want to read spoilers. From the bits I read though, I have added it to my TBR. You know I love men named Ian. ^_^ Thanks, Dhestiny!

Danielle, have you read any Susan Elizabeth Phillips? I enjoyed her Chicago Stars/Bonner series and Lady Be Good and Breathing Room. I haven't read too many Contemporary Romances. Most romances in a contemporary setting that I've read have been Romantic Suspense.
P.S. Sorry, Danielle. Scrap that. I see you have read some SEP.

Thanks for thinking of me, Jayne. I used to be a huge SEP fan. I'd like to get back into her books. She is a good writer.

Thank you, Jayne! I tried to avoid as many spoilers as possible because I don't like feeling like I'm writing a Cliff Notes version of the story. I think my reviews would be better and more helpful if I could somehow not add spoilers.

I loved them because their characters are so much more developed and the storylines more intense. I need that, sometimes.
And... I don't know if you read my review, but in CtC, consider everything carefully before you judge Kylemore for certain behaviors. *whispers* please

Krabby Kitton, I love the Hathaways series, too, but love the Wallflower a bit more (because they were the 1st LK books I read so they'll always be special ^_^). But I do love the Hathaway family members! The Hathaway series is actually tied to the Wallflowers as the Hathaway family inherit Ramsay House, which neighbours Stony Cross Park, Lord Westcliff's estate. So, you'll still see a bit of the characters from the Wallflowers. ^_^ And Mine Till Midnight (1st Hathaways book) is about Cam Rohan, who was introduced in Devil in Winter (3rd Wallflower book).

We all have our unique taste in different things and thats great. How boring we'd be if we liked the same things equally!

Wallflower characters making an appearance makes me want to read the Hathaway series now! I just finished "A Wallflower Christmas" which was very sweet. The revisiting and updating of the 4 wallflower couples was a very nice treat from LK in that book. Definitely nice to see Sebastian again of course! Sigh...

Gotta gift certificate --- must buy more books!!

I agree, this book is wonderful! Tracy Anne Warren writes in away that keeps my attention.

Christina Dodd has a good "Governess" series that I enjoyed as well.
Samantha James has the "Perfect" series that I'd recommend.
Sabrina Jeffries with her "Heiress" series and she recently released Book #1 "Truth about Lord Stoneville" for a new series
Happy reading :)
