Arnaud Tarbangdo (young-milli) | 12 comments "In the darkest time, the eyes begins to see", this quote by Theodore Roethke
The Collected Poems of Theodore Roethke, 1966, is a symbol of life difficulties. Which means that it represent life in a way that tells us that at certain circonstances of life we begin to realize our mistakes, what we want and how we want to be betterin life. That's at these times that we now see our ennemies and friends and that's when we recognized and appreciate more what we have in life. this quote relate to the narrative life of Frederick Douglass and Dream from my father by the president Obama.

In the Narrative of Frederick Douglass, it is only at his time of slavery when Sophia started to teach him and then stopped andd became really mean toward him that he realized that a woman can be sweet in one minute and then have a stone heart the next. But most of all, it is when he finally escaped from slavery that his eyes started to open meaning that he started to see the reallity of life He saw that many people did not like him beintg free even thought that he was now in the south which was a slavefree, which caused him to leave the country until he was able to buy his freedom.

In the Dream from my father by Barrack Obama, the president discuss his life but at the beginning of the book he discusses the loss of his father and how he felt about loosing his father and he then realized how influencial his father. He then realized how much he learned from his father and he then look back at his father's life to see what he went through as a black man in love with a white woman at a time when interracial marriage was not permitted.
