Sandi (sandi13) | 7 comments Under an author's bio and description, what is the criteria for websites that are used? Dorothy Dunnett has a fansite listed under her information panel, which is very good, but it is not the official association that she founded shortly before she died. It might be more appropriate to include a link to the Dorothy Dunnett Readers' Association (www.ddra.org) in preference to the fan page, or at least have links to both sites.

Ralph Gallagher | 200 comments I'm pretty sure only official sites should be listed - not fansites. Fansites often contain incorrect information. Fansites don't belong being listed, IMO.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments I think Ralph is correct. I think it's meant only for an author's official site. I know for individual books, the only web site that should be listed is the official site for that book, if it has one. That's my understanding of those fields.

Well, www.ddra.org is the closest to an official site that Dorothy Dunnett has - a Scottish charity set up by her to promote an interest in 15C & 16C European history, as well as encouraging an interest in her books.

Ralph is indeed correct.

Sandi, that site sounds like a better option than a fansite.

Sandi (sandi13) | 7 comments Having brought this to your attention, what is the next step? Do I have to raise this on another forum, or submit a request through another channel? Thanks.

Oh! Sorry, I made the mistake of assuming you were a librarian (and not checking).

I'll fix that.

Sandi (sandi13) | 7 comments Just a newbie (but a librarian in real life!). Thanks.

I am familiar with the problem.

Sandi (sandi13) | 7 comments Point me in the direction of the job description and expectations - and I'll consider it (seriously).

(Hate these subnimal messages - they are so compelling)

Librarian Manual
Basic job description
Apply here

Librarians are as active (or not) as they choose. We have librarians who make thousands of edits a week -- and some who just make one or two. Or just upload the occasional bookcover.
