Why events?

We've already signed up for challenges in the threads. Why have events for the same thing?

This was a suggestion from one of our members. After thinking about it, we came to the agreement that some members do not check as often in our group as they like, but wouldn't mind getting a reminder when a challenge is launched, and be given the opportunity to see if it is something they like to participate in or not. So Kasia and I were doing some "practice" test on sending out event invites.

I do apologize for those who are already signed up and still got the invite, but this is only for today. We were just trying to cover all the currently existing challenges.

As a result, we were please to see some fresh faces signing up.

After today, we will send out only event invites everytime a new challenge is launched, and since most of our challenges launchings are staggered within a month, you will not get this same amount of invites within the same day.

Again, I apologize if some of you feel you were being spammed by all the event invites.

I liked this idea, as I'm one of the members who don't check this group - or any group I'm in, to be honest - as often as I should. Yup, I'm that lazy. ;)

I just found the multiple event invites annoying. Then again, I check the group daily and have already signed up for the challenges I'm interested in. So I just clicked ignore on all the event invites.

The multiple event invites will not be a common occurrence I assure you.

I am new to this site and group and I thought the event invite was a huge help to let me know what was going on! It is probably easier for you to keep track of people that are participating also :) THANKS!

And I've ignored/rejected a few events myself. Not a biggie, that's what options "ignore" and "no" are for.

And as Yz said we won't be flooding you with this stuff.

I like the idea - I try to check and participate in the group every day but sometimes it is just not possible or its a fly-by!

I think it's a great idea. I try to check back as much as possible to see what's up with the group, but even then I sometimes miss some of the new(er) challenges.

I get individual emails and often it's a thread that I'm not interested in, so I just delete it from my email. No biggie at all guys, and thank you for all you do to keep the boards running smoothly. :)

I didn't mind it a bit. I find it will be helpful if I forget to add a challenge to my spreadsheet.

Yeah sometimes events can get annoying but I do understand why you are doing them Yz. I don't mind it at all if its helping your group :)

As long as we don't send the invites all within the same day, I think the annoyance factor will be outweighed by the pros it can bring. : )

It will also help the members see at a glance (just click on the Events link in the upper right corner) to see all the challenges available. It's an easy way to find what you're looking for without trolling all the topics. I like it. Thanks for making it easier to figure out what I've signed up for.

Great idea! I contribute regularly but I still sometimes forget/miss dates. And it gives me a heads up to start thinking about the next round of challenges.
